one knob for volume. pre-set fuzz tone/effect. no-brainer.

its kind of in-between a muff and a fuzz face. it has a tone of its own. which can be described as warm, expressive, and just plain round tone. no crazy, fuzz sounds here. just a nice useable fuzz. can be used to mimic some light muff sounds, and expressive enough to use for blues solos. really surprised by its sound. it cleans up really well too.

Easiest thing ever. One knob. Left of 12 oclock cut volume, right of 12 oclock boosts. Its fuzzy all the way round. You control the thickness of the fuzz with your guitar volume. It gets less fuzzy and less brittle as you roll off on the guitar. Wide open you get the full force fuzz of the pedal.

Sound is brilliant, but not extreemly versatile so it looses a mark on overall.
Its not super high gain fuzz, but its pretty hot and can also be backed down. The sound is just what I was looking for, hence the 10. I wanted fuzz that didnt take away the sound of your guitar and replace it with a wooly mess but I also wanted it to be noticeable. This is a great example of how transparent Seans pedals are and it reminds me of my COT in the way it reacts with your volume pot and picking intesity. Its growls with chords and sears with lead lines.
Someone looking for a thick ultra-warm mellow fuzz wont find it here, just as you wont find Ice pick sounds in this box.
Its everything I wish that the big muff was. Even though some bass is lost, thats part of the sound.
Most fuzz boxes cant cut volume, you might not think its useful, but its great for background. This box can do rhythme volumes to screaming in your face.
Basically the sound is pretty much what Sean thought sounded good, and you really should trust him, hes a bit of a genious.

Had it for a whole 5 days, so I dont really know. Its heavy, and I think its actually made out of a piece of a tank. Its not gunna break.

Why arent these made anymore?! If you see one, they go for pretty cheap now, jump on it. Then buy it.
I play rock, psycadelic and progressive. When people play psycadelic they bury their guitar and amps tone in a plethora of noise- this pedal brings out the wild side of both without drowning them which ive wanted to do for a while now.
They are round and very cool looking with gold glitter.
If it were lost or stolen, Id probably try a White Dragon or Karl or wait for another to turn up on ebay.
Its just quality sound, adjustable with a skilled pinky throughout the song. Armed with this a COT and an Eternity, Lovepedal owns the drive section of my board.

One knob, which is basically a volume knob. At about noon you have unity gain, after that the fuzz 50 boost the signal. The sound does change not only in terms of volume but also in terms of tone because your amp reacts differently when boosted. I would suggest to use your guitar volume and tone knobs to adjust your sound. It works pretty well with this pedal.

I play classic rock, blues, sometimes hard rock or metal.
My main guitars are strats, a Vox AC30 and a Peavey Classic 30 as amps. I have other fuzzes: a Carl Martin the Fuzz, a Keeley Fuzz Head, a Fulltone 70', an Analogman Sun Face NKT, a Mista Fuzz.
The keepers would be the Fuzz 50 and the Sun Face.
The Fuzz 50 has a very good fuzz sound with it's own personnality. It's not another Fuzz Face clone, it's different. By the way, the sound cleans up when you roll your guitar volume down too. It's not noisy at all compared with my other fuzz pedals. It's still something you have to tame before getting it's best, and in this sense it could be compared with the Sun Face. I find it more complex, more rich in terms of tone than the other pedals I have. Less bassy, too.
Did you experiment with a pedal which sounds very good when you play alone, but disappears with a band or in a mix? With the Fuzz 50, you won't have this problem!

If you are a fuzz addict, get it. As I said, it's one of my keepers. It's original tone is perfect to complete my Sun Face. They are really different, but both are excellent. Sean suggest to experiment with pickups, amps inputs, settings. I would add that you have to have some guitar skills too. It's not a pedal for beginers because it's very sensitive to your playing. Once you have understood how to play with it, you can do almost what you want. Another great Lovepedal. Check the COT 50, too!

To be clear, in case Harmony-Central misfiles this, this is a review of the FUZZ 50....NOT the FAB 50. I know from experience that whenever numbers are involved musicians tend to get confused.
Anyway, this is one of those finely crafted pedals that has a grand total of one knob. It's pretty easy to use...you turn the knob one way to make it louder, the other way to make it less loud.
OF course, then you have to know how to play the guitar; for a lot of people that's the tough part. Can't fault the ol' Fab 50 for that though, its as easy to use as a pedal can be.

This is one of those rare devices that has character. It's not the box into which you can plug any guitar and sound like your favorite rock star. It treats different guitars, different pickups, different volume levels, different tone settings differently.
It responds like a very standard sounding fuzz face to one of my guitars....you roll the ol' volume knob down and it gets muddy. On another one of my guitars, it sounds like an analog synth if you twiddle the knobs a bit. With a guitar I just got the other day it sounds like an overdrive just by turning down the volume knob on the guitar...cleans up beautifully.
Sticking a buffered effect in front of it seems to cause its fundamental characteristics to undergo some kind of sonic disintigration. As though it could use some antibiotics.
Why does it vary so much depending upon what's plugged into it? That I can't tell you. The circuit is thoroughly sealed in epoxy; a decent way to protect a trade secret and an ideal way to ensure that if it ever malfunctions it will revert to paperweight status.
What is clear from the fine tones that this thing produces is that there is some brilliant combination of science and magic in there that is capable of producing a significant amount of fuzz-joy.
Not much bass. If you're one of those people who always whines about how there's not enough bass....perhaps you should consider some kind of bass boost pedal.

Seems like a finely crafted device. Mine's extra special because it has a nifty jack for an AC adapter.
I get the impression that you could treat this pedal with a significant amount of disrespect, and it would continue to deliver finely crafted fuzz tones.

Mr. Sean is a fine fellow. He was kind enough to adorn my Fuzz 50 with some fancy asian characters. He also installed an exceptionally useful AC-adapter jack without any extra charge.
I have not had occasion to break the pedal, so I can't really speak to whether he's good about fixing his stuff, but he's an accessable, friendly, and highly skilled fellow with magic ears. (in the sense that he hears well, rather than having pointy elf-style ears)

This is not a rags-to-riches style pedal. If you don't know how to play, it will not solve your problem.
However, because of it's versatility, the nuance with which it responds to tonal, dynamic, and electronic changes, in the right hands it can produce a lot of wonderful tones. If you have some level of creativity and skill, it can function as a vehicle to enhance your music in a way that other pedals can't....this is a one of a kind pedal, particularly among fuzzes.
