MG's Fuzzyland is super simple to use. It has two chicken head style knobs: 1 for Gain and 1 for Volume.

This is a fuzz based off of the infamous Fuzz Face pedal used by Jimi Hendrix and other greats.

Like all MG pedals the manual is minimal. Honestly, it is not needed due to its simplicity. It comes with a piece of paper that describes the sound they were trying to achieve and a quick synopsis of certain key components.

You may want to listen to Jimi Hendrix's 1968 recording "Electric Ladyland" to get an idea of the sound this pedal is meant to capture. Also, check out the sounds at MG's website: www dot mgmusic dot net/ingles. This thing can SMOOOOKE....

Sound Quality : 10
The Fuzzyland utilizes a pair of either NOS Mullard AC128 germanium transistors or NOS military germaniums. The 128's are getting harder to find. Mine has the military germaniums. I am not sure if there is any difference in sound between the two or not. It also incorporates oil capacitors. MG claims this is a significant part of the tone of his pedals. I don't know enough to say one way or another. What I can say is I have never seen anyone else use oil caps in their pedals.

I have used this pedal with a Fender Mustang Re-issue stocked with Seymour Duncan Antiquity for Mustang pickups. Amps are a cheap little Roland MicroCube for practice and a Fender Twin Reverb Re-issue.

As I've mentioned in previous reviews of MG products almost any fuzz you use will have noticeable noise as you turn up the volume and gain knobs while not playing. The Fuzzyland is no exception, but by no means is the noise annoying or strong compared to many fuzzes. The manufacturer recommends powering the pedal with a 9V carbon battery. I absolutely agree. Using a power supply will add noise. Alkaline batteries are better, but they tend to cut out the higher frequencies. Carbon batteries preserve the frequency spectrum and provide a great tone.

The old fuzz faces were known for cleaning up very nicely when you turned down the volume on your guitar. The Fuzzyland keeps this aspect of the pedal in tact. It also responds pretty well to the tone control of the guitar. As the previous reviewer said some may wonder why there is no tone control on the pedal. Tone controls on pedals are commonplace today. They are filters that cut out certain parts of the frequency spectrum depending upon where it is set. They color the sound from the get go. Remember, the original fuzz faces had no tone control. MG was going for the original sound. Besides, the combination of the controls on your guitar and the knobs on the pedal will provide plenty of tonal options.

The pedal has plenty of output. Quite a bit more than many fuzzes I've played through.

Overall, the sound is very 60's fuzzish. I like how the other reviewer said it can make sounds like a B3 on the verge of meltdown. It can certainly get fierce! Plenty of gain. Loud! Very chewy and thick without ever sounding muddy. Notes and chords retain their clarity even on extreme settings. Lots of harmonics. Very lively sounding. Listen to some Hendrix recordings to get an idea.

Reliability : 10
Seems dependable. I haven't had it very long. But I have had some other MG pedals for a while without any problems whatsoever.

I have commented at length about MG in previous reviews, so I won't go into great detail here. He had been nothing short of amazing. Very passionate. Loves what he does and is proud of his work. He will work with you on anything you need.

His pedals are works of art...on the inside and outside:-)

Overall Rating : 10
This pedal fits my style well. I love fuzz. I love all kinds of music from tone soaked blues and rock to shoegaze, acoustic, electronic....

I have not been playing for long, but I do own some other gear.

Pedals wise I currently own the following MG pedals: Fuzzyland, MGMuffFeliz, Tony Tender, Crunsh, Creamy, and Sexy Drive. They are all wonderful. I also own a Frantone Sweet, Analogman Beano Boost, Seymour Duncan pickup booster (for my low output Antiquity pups), and an original Ibanez AD-9 analog delay.

If this pedal were lost or stolen I would save up to buy another one.

It is boutique and thus is expensive, but I just love the artistry and sound of MG's pedals. Check him out. I think you will be glad you did!

Very simple to use fuzz box!! Two chicken head knobs one for volume the other for gain, their functions being handpainted onto them. one jewelled indicator light that is plenty big enough and a old school on off switch that is true bypass. could'nt be easier to use!!

Sound Quality : 10
Sound quality? Quite possibly the finist fuzz I've ever heard and most certainly the best I've ever owned!! The bestway to describe it is that all the other old school fuzzes I had over the years ether got tossed out right away or are lost in my closet somewhere! They were just one trick ponys. Make no mistake this is a fuzz but has a lot of range wether using a little or lot it goes from overdrive to almost octive up! wether its volume up gain down or vise versa there is quite a diverse palate of tone colors here! And notes and chords always retain there character and body, The manufacturer was inspired by Jimi's electric ladyland recordings for this pedal and I think this is where they hit the mark, just like Hendrix even in extreme settings you still hear everything! Some will be put off by the lack of a tone knob! Don't need it! wherever you set the volume and gain on the pedal you're guitar takes over! absolutely the most volume and tone interactive pedal that interfaces with your guitar I've played, makes you interact with your guitars knobs with always pleasing results! Hendrix runs did not fly out of me the new digitec hendrix pedal did that for me but with the fuzzyland I found a lot of Beck era yardbirds, black sabbath(paranoid solo)and deep purple, not blackmore but Jon lord! this will make your guitar sound like a B-3 on the brink of a meltdown!! drop down to D and play the jon lords part on perfect strangers and see what I mean. on the other end of the spectrum low gain brings out kieth Richards licks in me like get off of my cloud. this pedals fidelity takes you to the sixty's I hate pedals that say classic fuzz or flashback or something and their not, their just no personality washes of transistor static!!

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't know any thing about these people, but this appears to be very well made! I would like to have a backup just in case though!

there in Brazil! I would have it fixed locally if anything happened short of it having a scarce op-amp chip it looks like simple circuit. I buy most of my pedals from pedalgeek and I give them a ten+ I always give them my buisness first.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall rating for me is a ten, and yes I've seen all those ten ratings out there, but if you're looking for truly great fuzz I don't see how you can go wrong with this pedal! it put a smile on my face instantly and I gig mainly for fun I won't keep this one a secret! If lost or stolen I would replace in a heartbeat. fact is with the cool Jimi graphics this practically begs steal me! so keep a close eye on it! What I would like to see changed? it needs a 9v adapter so you can hook it up to power supply, taking the base off to get to the battery is too old school! alternate plain jane finish would be nice so you can go get a beer between sets and not come back and find your artwork stolen! I like the message painted on the back, mine says (money cant buy friends, but you get a better class of enemy)compaired to big muff and the like forget about it, this will not be keeping them company in the closet!! I've been playing since 1979 currently in a classic rock cover band, currently using Laney VC212, vox valvetronix 60watt half stack, I always use a phaser delay and wah pedal and have about everyone of them imaginable since the last twenty years. gibsons epi's and fenders, one rick 620. for my review I mainly used a gibson SG and epi dot deluxe with the laney vc212 but a tele sounded great to! I also have a marshall jtm45 packed away and after we move I cant wait to crank it up!

3- GRS Telecaster Thinline (Brazilian Mahogany Body and neck, Gibson 490T/R pickups

My amps is a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 122 (and sometimes I play through a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 combo)

Cables: Georgel's .225

My setup:

Guitar >> MonoVibe >> The Drive >> MgMuffFeliz >> Fuzzyland >> RMC Wizard Wah >> Alien Booster >> Amp

I also use a VisualSound H2O and Guyatone MD-3 on fx loop

If you do use Single coils and wants a fuzz like that on "eletric ladyland"... Here is your pedal. What else could I say? It also sounds close to fulltone '69 pedal, but with a warmer sound. But fulltone works better with humbuckers.
It is a very especific pedal, wich easily gives you that vintage fuzz sound... As it is a very especific pedal, it is not a versatile pedal.
But remember it is a single coil pedal.
I gave it a 9 because i'm not a single coil player, and the pedal isn't very versatile.

Build as a tank, with high quality components (new and NOS), what can you expect? :))

Marcelo is a great guy. My MOnoVibe pedal had some wrong sound when bypassed. I emailed him and I got an answer (solution) in a few hours (I do live far away from him... I live in Cuiaba and he lives in Sao Paulo (1500 miles away).

Overall Rating : 10
Great Pedal for that what it was made for. I didn't buy (just testeD) this pedal because I'm a humbucker player. The pedal is very beautiful. If anyboy wants I can send pics of MGMusic pedals.
As all other reviews of MGMusic pedals, sorry about ny poor english.
