Ease of Use : 10
Three knobs. Very easy. Volume, Compression and EQ.

Manual is basic but you do not need one.

9V battery or 9V adapter.

Sound Quality : 10
Bloody excellent.

I compared a MXR M102 and EH Soul Preacher with the Moen - and the Moen was hands down better. MXR was very noisy, EH less so but the Moen was very good (note they are compressors). The sound of the Moen was much better than the other two in my opinion. This unit is great.

It is true bypass.

Like all compression, it is a subtle effective but is really nice for soloing.

Against the MXR and the EH, the Moen is the least expensive but I picked it on sound quality.

Reliability : 10
Metal case.

It is as well built as any other expensive hand built pedal.

I would depend on it - no reason to see it would fail.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Unknown - no reason to call them.

Overall Rating : 10
Playing a bit of Floyd and it seems to capture that sound. Gilmore uses a lot of compression at times and this seems to be working OK for me.

It seems strong, well built and most importantly sounds great.

Great value for money.

I would definitely get another one without question if I lost this pedal.

Ease of Use : 8
Very easy. Much easier than most compressors I've used. Three nobs- output volume, compression level and 'bias' (which is a tone control).
It is designed to be used with bass aswell.

Sound Quality : 9
The sound from this compressor is great. If you havn't used compression before it's a more subtle effect than most but be very useful. I mainly use it for clean tones and to push the blues driver. For clean tones it gives a good compression which gives a bit more percussion to rythm parts and makes clean lead sound more polished. Great for adding definition to appegios, funk or country. Not as noisy as most compressors but you aren't going to find a silent compressor (because they boost the quiet parts of a sound). The trick is to use it as a compressor and set at about the input signal level. Buy a booster to boost your signal.

A big difference between this and many other compressors is that I can run it before the bluesdriver (which is a very dynamic pedal) and still retain some dynamics. It is possible to get a good natural sounding compression which still allows you to back of the gain using only your picking hand. Don't use it with distortion as I get enough compression from the pedal and from the tubes in my amp.

Another point is on clean if you back of the guitar volume alittle, and the tone, and then play really heavily, the compressor boosts your signal and gives a nice acoustic flavour.

The tone control is amazing. I've battled with a few EQs in the past as a means to boost the treble and give more punch to clean parts and the result has always sounded very EQ'd. This is very natural. My tele still sounds like a tele but is even more twang-tastic. My les paul retains its warmth but gets an added bite which helps cut through the mix.

It can also be used subtly after my envelope filter. If you've used envelope filters then you'l know that its (in simple terms) a wah which is triggered automatically by the volume of the guitar. So you have to control it with dynamic playing. This allows some really interesting and very fast effects which cannot be attained which a manual wah. However, using some extreme settings you lose alot of volume when playing quietly. With some compression you lose the volume swells but retain the tonal quality which is great for heaviuly overdriven, spacey lead solos where a volume drop would drop you fromt he mix.

Also great from volume swells as gives you a lovely swell in tone as it quickly swells your volume.

This is just a few things that I've found it great for. I apologise if its all abit rambling as it is difficult to explain subtle effects.

seems solid, will gig without backup, its not the sort of effect you cant live without. It merely attenuates your sound.

Good chunky feel to everything.

never dealt with

Don't buy this effect if you hate your tone- its not going to solve that. Buy a compressor if you think you need compression and you like your basic tone.

I've been playing for five or six years and have been in giging bands for most of that.
Im mainly using a fender tele, loaded with seymour-duncan single coils, and a gibson les paul with a p-90 in the neck and JB (seymour duncan) in the bridge. I run a few effects- I have two loops running, one with an envelope filter and a turbo rat in, and this can run into the second loop which starts with this compressor> boss bluesdriver> EHX smallstone> line6 echo park. I'm using fender hot rod (40W) amplifier.

One pearl of wisdom I'd like to pass on is that the Boss CS-3 is aweful and as this compressor is cheaper on ebay then don't buy one. The CS-2 is great and I think has a similar sound to this pedal.

I would probably buy another one if this were stolen, unless I could afford a tube-compressor (EHX black finger would be a good start).

Ease of Use : 10
Very easy to use. Three knobs and away you go!

Sound Quality : 9
I will give it a 9 only because of a slight hiss, but it is nothing compared to other comps I have tried. I run it with a Vox AC15CCIX and an SG and a Gretsch 6120. I was looking for that cool Beatles compression and this comes very close. I bet it would kill with a Ric!

Have not had it long enough to comment

Have not had to contact any one. I got it from Strings experienced musical instruments at a guitar show. They seemed really hyped on the Moen stuff and I feel they would be of great help if needed.

I am a hack wanna be guitarist who is a pro drummer with 30 years in in out of bands of every type. I mainly write songs in my home studio. Very well built. Just be sure if you hook up an AC adaptor to pay attention to exactly what they say to use. I hooked up one I had around with the wrong ma's and blew out the led. Still sounds great though.

Ease of Use : 9
Very easy to use three knobs volume,, compression, bias which affects tone. The manual is only one page, and is more than sufficient

Sound Quality : 10
I am using an Ibanez rga 1260 prestige, and playing through a peavey ultra 112. This Comressor is one of the most quiet compressors on the market today. You have to spend 4 times the oney on a Keeley or other boutique pedal to come close to the sound quality in this pedal. It actualy sounds great at almost any setting. I even put it in front of a sans amp tri-A.C. through a direct box into a mixer, and it still produced an amazing sound, without loading up the bass like most oy=ther brands sw=eam to do.

Reliability : 8
It seems to be fairly well built, although the switch could be improved.

never contacted them

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 28 years, and have played professionaly for 20 years. This is without a doubt the best bang for the buck in the entire compressor stompbox world. If it were stolen,I would definately buy again. I own a Keeley 2 knob compressor, and a digitech, and a boss. This one does something more musicaly than the others, and the response is amazing right out of the box.

Ease of Use : 9
Its really easy, three knobs, not long think of, pluck and play.
You dont need a manual.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it with a Tele and a modded peavey classic 30 for country music.
I've tried all types of compressors, Boss, MXR (is really not bad) and some in digital-devices (POD, VOX Soundlab).
It has only aon high volume a little noise, but the compression is really great, you got a perfect sound for country bendings and steal git. effects and the best, it doesn't sound like a compressor.
The second best is the price, I thin it is a boutique thing on a mcdonalds price, you can't do nothing wrong.
I like it more than the mxr, and this one was good.
I dont need knobs for attack and this and that.

Reliability : No Opinion
It looks like reliable.

Customer Support : 10
It comes from Great Britain to Germany, no problem at all,

Overall Rating : 10
For country its a must, if you pluck it in, you want play and play and..., and if you press the bypass, you will miss it in your tone.

This is great Compressor from the folks at Moen. Comes with a small manual to show knob lay out ect, but certainly not required. With Volume, Comp and Bias ( High to Low) you can pull down a sound as soon as you plug it in and with a little tweak you for sure know that is there.

Sound Quality : 9
I have been running this in-line with either Marshall tube amp or 100wt Fender SS. This Moen delivers a huge compressed sound. The compressors I have had before it simply do not compare.i ma sure there are other vintage and boutique models out there, but I have not tried them(or probably afford them). The Moen creates a huge powerful "wall" of sound, great sustain and virtually zero background noise or hiss. Power chords come out full and majestic, picked chords very well defined. It really shines through the Fender and kicks the Marshall as well. With the Bias control you can compress from Low to High signal tones and I use the full range on guitar, but the Moen states very suitable for Bass as well.

Reliability : 8
No problems with this unit and I several others in the Moen Line. Built in full metal(very heavy)enclosure. No plastic to be found anywhere on the casings with Moen(and they certainly could in this price range).
I have had this for awhile with no problems noted.Time will tell down the road a bit more, but for now extremely happy I found this unit.

Customer Support : 9
The Moen presence is getting a bit stronger and I have purchased from a US Authorized dealer who seems passionate about getting things right, so I have no fear in getting a Moen product repaired or answers to any questions I might have. Not sure some larger companies can even move that fast.

Overall Rating : 10
This is the first comprssor i have thrown back into my set up and I find this thing pretty amazing for what they set out to accomplish. My last compressor simply killed the tone and dropped the volume dramatically. The Moen actually brings the tone to life and pushes the compressed sound out. I had kinda given up on a compressor until I got the Moen. It I lost this one, I would go and buy it again right away. They put the right 'tude in this one and in the price range it plays in, you can't go wrong.
