Ease of Use : No Opinion
I just wanted to update my review of this autoflanger. I was the first one to review it and some other wag thought I was lying and didnt even have any experience with it. Again, It's easy to use. Finding the right voltage to give it (16-24) and building a box for it were a hassle.

Sound Quality : 5
I still think It's noisy. I had it repaired and it now works properly, but it is an early analog unit. It has no regeneration control so it will never generate that huge typical flanger sweep. It has some neat uses, I really like it when overdubbing artifical harmonics with a strat.

Reliability : No Opinion
no idea, it a collectors item and does not leave my studio. It has not stopped working since I finally got it repaired.

Customer Support : No Opinion
company that built it is a dead legend. I doubt if the modern dunlop company would give a shit about these units.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Its a cool studio piece and certainly a holy grail for collectors. I got it for a song and could get a small fortune if I sold it. If you need a good effective studio flanger, there are more cost effective units.

I AM SPEAKING FOR THE AUTO PHASOR AND AUTO FLANGER, THESE THINGS ARE CREM DE LA CROP. IF TIMBERLAND USES THEM I THINK THEY ARE THE BEST.

Reliability : 10
NEVER HAD A PROBLEM

HAHA, WOULD MAKE A GOOD PRANK CALL TO JIM DUNLAP

Overall Rating : 10
I HAVE THE SUPER RARE LUNCHBOX UNIT WITH 2 AUTO FLANGERS AND ONE AUTO PHASOR, NOTHING SOUNDS LIKE THESE THINGS, THIS IS FOR ONE REASON ALONE; I HAVE NEVER HEARD A FLANGER OR PHASOR (I HAVE USED MANNNNYYY) THAT DOESN'T WASH OUT THE SOUND...OR MAKE IT TOO FLANGY...THIS ISN'T SOMETHING YOU CAN CONTROL WITH THE AMOUNT OF MIX...THESE UNITS ARE EARTHY, THEY DONT SOUND LIKE THEY ARE FROM MARS...JUST VERY PURE AND SUBTLE SOUND....THEY ARE KEEPERS FOR SURE.

four knobs. easy.

This is a module for a modular rack mounted effect system that MXR made in the late seventies. These are the holly grail of vintage effects. And it's not because they look cool. It is because of how they sound and what they do. The first reviewer obviously has a broken one, is confused about which one he has or is just slow.

Reliability : 10
Works like a charm no adjustment needed always reliable.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
You can't beat these units. The flanger is the most common. There are at least three more modules that I have seen. The auto phaser is the one everyone wants. The first reviewer didn't even spell it right. It is two words auto flanger not autoflanger. If he bought it for $5, thinks it is crap and won't sell it. He's doen't really have it. He's just talking out his ass. Hey dude, proove it. You don't even mention that it ain't a pedal.

Excellent Ease of Use. This unit (along with it's partner the Auto Phaser) is probably the most comprehensive vintage unit I have ever seen or used.

Sound Quality : 9
Very low noise compared to the later generations (Full rack mount jobs). Not transparent, but definitely has a texture of it's own.

Reliability : 10
Never have had a problem with my units and have had them for over 10 years.

Customer Support : No Opinion
MXR is now owned by Dunlop. They offer no support for these units, however who offers support for products that are over 30 years old anyways. Then again, I have never needed support for these guys.

Overall Rating : 10
Really big in the early rock world. Made a huge comeback in the grunge era and is making a resurge again. If you can find any of these babies (Dynacomp, Minilimiter, Auto Flanger or Auto Phaser you'd be best to scoop 'em up!

Painfully easy to use, because this thing really doesn't do much or sound that good, it's controls will bore you instantly

Sound Quality : 2
Noisy. This thing was at least a design generation older than that fantastic 4 knob MXR gray thing...& it shows(and sounds) it

Reliability : No Opinion
It was busted when I found and adopted it from under a pile of greasy tools at the local flea market, and hasn't worked that often since I fixed it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
MXR doesn't exist. I have a cranky ART DR/x though, so once i get around to fixing that, I'll hazard to opine...

Overall Rating : 1
This is the grand dame of exotic collectible effects. It shares a remarkable amount of personality traits with the "spy who loved me" Lotus Esprit: Looks a hell of a lot better than it works, needs constant adjustment, expensive, cranky, and all your friends want it. A bit like my last woman. I never got as much email than over this thing, over at alt guitar FX. And No, it's NFS.
