its a pretty well built pedal, except for the casting flaws on the case. i sent mine to Dunlop and they were going to wait for some better castings(im anal like that) and after two months they sent my original pedal back. if the Dunlop QC people read this, your doing a not so good job on the QC aspect. how could you let these pedal enclosures leave with these flaws? it looks like big cracks.

the QC isnt that good. but they make a good wah pedal. lets face it, if it isnt a real MXR pedal it will never be good enough.

The sound quality out of this thing is superb! Nice, lush, clean, and natural. It sounds like it should exist somewhere in nature.
I run it through both a BlackHeart all-tube amp, and a Hartke GT-60 hybrid-tube half stack, using both Fenders and LP style guitars.
Here's a couple of things. If it's turned on, and you turn the knob ALL THE WAY DOWN, you will still get a very discernible effect. It is extremely sweet for leads and single note arpeggios, but IMO doesn't work at all for rhythm and most chord playing. I guess that's not what a phaser is for, true, but I was hoping to get oh-so-little effect on the lowest setting to give rhythm playing and riffing that extra dimension. In most cases the effect is still too much at the lowest setting for that. So I guess you could say it would be nice if the lowest setting went a little lower.
Both with the phase ON and OFF, you will not get changes in volume. It's surprising how many pedals have an annoying habit of changing your volume, and this one doesn't.

Well, I've only had it for a week. But I must say I love the build quality of it.
The knob turns like glass! The switch has a solid click. And it's heavy, I like that a lot. It feels substantial in your hand. You know those El-harmx pedals that feel like they are made out of tin? This one ain't like that.

No idea. Just don't make me regret giving you good review MXR !!

I say 9 only because $120 is a premium price, but you are getting a premium pedal. So for the money they aren't doing you any favors, but it's a fair deal and you are getting what you pay for. If they sold these for $99 the value would be a '10'

Completely quiet except for the pop when you hit the switch, typical of Carling switches that don't have true bypass, but this pedal is true to spec from the ground up, with a hand-wired board and "select resistors paired with hand-matched FET's" so once you get past the pop, you go straight to Phase 90 nirvana, and that is no lie. The swoosh is so sweet and engulfing. At low settings, it just adds a lushness to your tone that is absolutely heavenly. At 12 o'clock, you get a very Leslie-like tone. I'm 57 and I've been playing for 45 years. I've spent a fortune on pedals that sounded like crap. This is the real deal and Dunlop is listing it for $119, which sure beats having to shell out $350. for a 40 year old pedal on it's last leg. This line will totally kill the vintage market for these things but I could care less.

MXR pedals always had a good rep for reliability, even the Dunlop-made pedals. I don't think you need a back-up.

Dunno, but as I mentioned on a previous review, I suspect Jim Dunlop will go the extra mile for this new line to shore up the rep of these pedals.

Look, I don't rightly know why Dunlop has finally decided to listen to players who for years have been begging him to recreate the pedals of old, but Thanks, Man, for doing the music community a real solid. This pedal is everything I could want it to be. A recreation of a pedal I love that is has true fidelity to the original. Good job Jim! I hope you plan on doing a retool of the MXR Dyna-Comp real soon. I will definitely grab one of those. Looking forward to checking out the new Octavio, built totally to spec and the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face. These pedals are a steal at the current prices. My advice-grab one now. Who knows what the future holds.
