Rediculous question!!!!
One knob, one button.

Sound Quality : 8
I use a Gibson Custom shop Non-reverse firebird (or a 70's SG for backup), into the MXR the a Boogie Dual Rec combo. simple set-up for massive rock sounds, think Foo's, Pumpkins, Janes Addiction, At the drive-in (odd one out!!)

I would have given this a 10, if i hadn't heard the Z-Vex Super-Hard-On. (Odd name, i know!)
There is a very VERY slight discolouration on tone but only at the highest setting. Otherwise, this is an exceptional gain booster. My only gripe, and the reason i had to research more, is that it just doesn't boost enough.

I use the boosts to make my Dual Rec louder in big riffs and solos. i've been unable to find a distortion pedal that does this while still giving tone as good as the Boogie. (even the V-Twin failed). so off i popped, down to the shop and picked up the microamp. Got home, plugged it in, got a boost, but not nearly enough. Sure it boosts, but its designed to saturate a clean amp into break-up, more than an all round booster. This makes sound bigger, not louder. (Yes! It is different)

If you want boost but don't need to be able to shout like Zeus, get this. if you need serious volume, i'm afriad your're in the wrong town. Buy a Z-Vex (twice as expensive #165) but its 60 times louder than theoriginal signal!!!! i'm not kiddin either. I'll submit a review for that one too

Very simply to use, just a gain knob that you can move with your foot if you put the rubber slip (supplied) on top - quality! This pedal sounds as good as your setup.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using this pedal with the following kit - SG with Wilkinson Humbuckers / Strat with Kent Armstrong buckers > Boss TU -2 Chromatic Tuner > Morley Power Wah > Marshall DSL100 with two tubes pulled (too bloody loud) > Marshall 1960A.

This thing is quality! If you set it fully anti-clockwise, you get a signal the same level as your bypassed signal, giving a sound EXACTLY the same as your bypassed signal. You'd be amazed how many so-called clean boosters can't do the simple job of keeping your sound in tact. You can use it to match output levels of guitars (when switching from a humbuckered gibson to a single-coil equipped fender for example) with no problem.

This unit sounds as good as your amp. It's great with valves; set your amp clean or slightly crunchy, turn the Micro Amp up three quarters and you get plenty of added level, warmth and sustain, but still with enough definition. My DSL100 has two footswitchable channels - I set one for a cleaner bluesy rhythm and the other a more rocky rhythm and with this unit, I get two new sounds - the bluesy rhythm sound with the Micro Amp gives me a brilliant blues lead tone, very meaty with a Strat, and the rockier channel nails a heavier lead tone - good for Rory Gallagher or Stevie Ray on "Sky is cryin'". So this thing has one knob and it's doubled the amount of sounds I get - brilliant!

Reliability : 9
I've kicked this thing around a bit and it's fine - built like a small tank.

Never had to deal with Jim Dunlop. My cry baby broke though - git!

Overall Rating : 10
Overall I'd say this is the best clean booster pedal there is. I can't imagine it getting any better. I've been playing guitar for about 13 years and I've tried a few in my time. I had a Boss EQ and a Blues Driver, but they both turned my Marshall solid-state in terms of tone. The EQ was all crackly too. The Micro Amp is incredibly useful and although I can imagine playing without it, the prospect seems uninviting. Perhaps the only mark against is the colour - what do we reckon - "Prosthetic Limb Beige"??

It's a joke, really. Just match your volumes with the Micro Amp turned on and off, then turn it on and set the vlume higher or lower as you need.
Really. You dont't need any kind of manual to use this...

Sound Quality : 10
I needed something to boost my signal and was pretty worried about changes in my tone... So I heard about this pedal and decided to give it a shot... Man, this pedal is amazing. I really don't know how I lived without it all this years... It boosts my signal without changing in my tone and adds presence to it. If you need a little bit more gain, turn the knob over 12 o'clock. I use it at the end of my effects chain right in front of my amp and it kicks ass!!
I play The Blues and Southern Rock and my setup is: PRS Bolt CE >> TS9 >> MXR Dist+ >> Boss CE >> Boss DD >> MXR Micro Amp >> Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10.

Seems reliable. Really don't know... Own it for a couple weeks only.

No idea.

Overall Rating : 10
It's a very simple pedal with a very big responsability. And does a very nice job!!
It is one of the best pieces of gear that I've ever bought and I would definitively buy another one if needed.
I recommend for everyone who need a gain boost for solo work.

Ease of Use : 10
Very easy to use. I have one of the first Micro Amps that MXR ever made, I bought it new in the the 70's and it's been on every pedal board I've ever had. I've used it to keep the signal fresh and also used it for soloing. It makes all the other pedals sound more alive.

Sound Quality : 9
I use 2x '52 reissue Tele's (one with Seymour Duncan Vintage Stack lead and rythmn pick ups), 60's reissue Strat, 2x Charvel Model 4A's, Vintage VH51 (brilliant), Fernandez Dragonfly, Takamine EAN15CX electro acoustic, 1972 medium bowl Ovation Electro acoustic, Boss AC2, 3x Boss CS2, Ibanez CP9, Cry Baby, Digitech Whammy 2, Electric Mistress, MXR Micro Amp, 2x Boss OD1, Boss OC2, 2x Boss GE7, MXR Distortion +, Z VEX Fuzz Probe, Boss MZ2, Sansamp GT2, Boss DD2, 2x Boss Dimension C, Boss PN2, Boss FV300H, Boss FV300L, Roland FV20, Digitech IPS33B, TC Electronics D2, Lexicon MPX1, Marshall JFX1, Rocktron Hush ICII Noise Reduction, Ground Control pedal board, Ground Control GCX guitar switching system, 4x Voodoo Lab power supplies, 2x Marshall JMP1 pre-amps, 2 Marshall stereo 50 watt MonoBloc power amps, 2 Marshall AV 4x12 cabs, Roland JC120, 2x Trace Acoustic TA100 combos. I have used this rig for some time now and once the initial earth loop problems were sorted out it has been bliss to use. The MXR Micro Amp keeps the guitar tone strong regardless of what toy I have switched on. The noise is minimal unless on full whack. I prefer the sound of the effects when the Micro Amp is left on. I seem to remember that Alex Lifeson of Rush used one of these for quite a while.

Reliability : 10
I have been using this pedal for about 26 years now and it has never let me down. It could be psychological but if it wasn't in my effects chain I would probably miss it. If stolen or lost I would try and find another one of these old original ones as I don't know about the build quality of the re-issues.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to use them!

Overall Rating : 9
I play a wide range of Rock styles and have been playing 32 years. This little white box has been a constant companion on tours and recordings and I can still remember when I seemed to be the only person who knew just how good these things are!

Are you bloody serious? A gorilla could figure this pedal out.

Sound Quality : 9
It sounds awesome. It's just a simple gain boost. I use a strat and a Hamer FM studio (look st the reveiws for that guitar) and it sounds equally awesome with both guitars. I never go past 12 o'clock on this bugger just becasue I start to be way louder than the rest of the band. You can use it to drive a really ginormous tube amp that would never distort, to a nice tube overdrive, although you might loose some hearing in the process.

Reliability : 10
It's a metal box. No back up needed.

Never had any problems with jim dunlop products.

Overall Rating : 10
awesome pedal, for pretty cheap. It only does one thing, but it does it dammed well. If you are considering getting an equalixer instead of this pedal for a boost, this pedal is better! The low end on this pedal doesn't get all muddy like that equalizer will.

i own an Ibanez (it's an 80's strat copy)..and a french guitar floydrose...PRS style of shape but made out of a single piece of wood...my two prercious babys....i i run them both thru a Mesaboogie combo.

this stompbox sounds very good...keeps the original signal and gain it up.

Reliability : 10
its dependable alright...very simple and solid construction(MXR MO)...no problems here..

Customer Support : No Opinion
never needed...so no opinion ( thank God)

Overall Rating : 10
I bought this cause i needed a boost on my guitar work for solos...this was it...problem solved...plus...if i need extra gain to mess things a little bit it's easy...just dial above 12 o'cklock.
It's white and small so beside of beeing cute its practical and very useful especialy if you suffer from signal lost on a big efect chain..but also if you need your guitar to step rigth in front of the mix for solo work.
Stolen or lost i would definently buy another one..

one knob, one button, one little red light - as long as you understand the word "gain" you'll be fine.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this with bass and guitar.

For bass it's my Rickenbacker or Warwick Streamer Jazzman 5 into a TU-2, then into the Micro Amp, then the amp, either an old Marshall Superbass 100w head, or a Hartke HA2000 - it adds a bit of growl or power to the sound when needed. I tend to use it fairly sparingly, and at low settings.

For guitar it's either my Voodoo Les Paul or US Tele (with Fralin p/u's) into the TU-2, then the Micro Amp, then into a Sans Amp GT2, and finally an old Marshall Sper Lead II 50w Combo. For this the Micro Amp has three uses:

1. A signal boost for solos. Very clean, so adds volume/gain without changing the tone.

2. To add dirt into the Sans Amp for the Tele, to balance out the signal with the Les Paul.

3. To boost into a clean amp, just to add a bit of gain to the signal.

The pedal turns up trumps for all these uses. Quite subtle, even at higher settings, mainly because it doesn't aim to add distortion, just gain. If you don't appreciate the difference then you probably won't like the pedal, but then you'd probably be getting a fuzzbox instead.

now, while MXRs are built like tanks, and I'd never worry about bringing along a spare, it is the second one I've had, after my original one died. It did take about ten years of solid gigging to kill it.

Day to day, no problem, I'm just not sure that they last forever.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to use them

Overall Rating : 9
fantastic pedal, as long as you understand what it does. If you want to add uncoloured gain, then this is the boy for you. Like I say, I've already replaced this once when my last one died, and I'd do so again.

It's not something that I use for every song, or even at every gig (especially for bass), but it is one i wouldn't want to be without.

Easy, very easy...

Sounds great, does exactly what it is supposed to do. Slight precence boost. I use it to boost my clean and overdrive leads. Works really nice with my Peavey Delta Blues. As the amp itself has a great overdrive, I only needed a pedal to push the amp harder and I've been really satisfied with my setup with Micro Amp.

Reliability : 4
Only thing that I'm satisfied with is the pedal's reliability. After one year of use, the on/off-switch broke. And I haven't been on a world tour, gigging every night. I'd say I've done some 20 qiqs plus rehersals with it. I do not weight a ton and I take a good care of my pedals.

I opened the box to fix the problem and what do I see...all switches and jacks are attached to the circuitboard as if it was ment to be hard to fix. What the fuck is wrong with the people at Dunlop? They make basically great pedals but screw up with the details. I don't care if a switch or a jack breaks on my pedal, those parts only last for so long. But for heaven's sake...I wan't to fix my broken switch without not having to spend a day with it, dam it!

Is there any?

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I really, really like what the Micro Amp does to my sound. I also own Phase 90 and I almost could tell somebody in a need for a boost-pedal or a phaser to go and buy one or the other...

...but I cannot do it without warning about possible problems with Dunlop manifactured MXR's. People at Dunlop...wake up! You carry on delivering great heritage, but please pay attentition to the details such as reliablity and durance, such aspects that has made MXR-pedals known in addition to the sound.

If the case is built like a tank, why couldn't the stuff inside be. I'd even pay an Euro or two extra if I knew I can rely on my MXR's.

one knob and one footswitch very easy.

Sound Quality : 10
i use a strat style guitar, a lot of pedals (9-10) and a marshall jcm 900 or a fender hotrod (both tube amps) , it only makes noise after the 75% gain point, it will add a bit of distortion. you dont have to go that far, when you set it to 50% gain it is louder than the amp and very clear sounding, o.k so what do you need it for? i play over 10 years and i am a total gear head and sound fanatic and let me tell you something... put this little thing last in the chain closest to the amp set it around 50% and every thing you have pedals, amp, guitar will sound 10 times bigger and better! it will add more than volume it will add tone! get it!

Reliability : 10
looks solid to me.

did'nt have to deal with them.

i play rock and blues for over 10 years, i have had many pedals , guitars and amps if it would get lost i will buy another one on the same day it is my first clean boost pedal so i can't tell you if anything is better but i think it's a great pedal ,yea it will help you make music you gona hear every thing you do better in terms of precence and clarity as well as volume the first pedal i own that truly gives me something that i couldn't have with out this pedal. magic box!!! but keep in mind... real sound comes from the soul.
