one knob. Gain. duh.

Sound Quality : 10
NO noise. Boosts signal and adds presence and sustain WITHOUT getting gritty, crunchy, muddy, etc. the best boost box i've ever seen, it was exactly what i was looking for. and for 20 bucks... geez.

Reliability : 10
metal casing... i haven't run over it with my car or killed anyone with it, and i'm trying to keep it that way.

no beef with MXR. or dunlop. or whoever is making them great pedals these days.

Overall Rating : 10
great pedal. super pedal. this is the pedal you want when you're all revved up for the big solo, your balls are the size of oranges, and you want that extra boost and fly to the front of the mix. yep, this box'll do it for you. simple. effective. perfect.

It has one knob, gain, and a switch.

Sound Quality : 8
When engaged, the pedal just boosts you signal. It adds a slight high end boost and a tiny bit of noise. Both of these things can be a little unnerving when in isolation, but the presence boost is actually a plus on stage and the noise is almost unnoticable.

Reliability : 9
No problems yet. I have used with only another distortion pedal as backup.

Never had any problem

I wouldn't be without it. I think that it is a great way to do the TS-9 thing (I have one) without losing the basic tone of the amp and guitar. It is surprising how much overdrive you can get with this pedal and an only slightly overdriven amp. I used it once with a Groove Tubes STPG-1 where the Micro Amp was overdriving an Experience Pedal which was driving the GT. Pretty sick distortion, and it would feed back in a second.

What does that thing do?!?!?! Well, the micro amp does nothing but boost the signal. It does eliminate line loading, and I feel it adds a bit of presence. It does have a good amount of boost power, actually a bit too much for some amps when cranked.

Reliability : 10
Very heavy duty.

I've broken my share of Crybabys and other Dunlop stuff, but never an MXR pedal, even these reissues.

Overall Rating : 7
Yeah, it's boring, but sometimes you need a boost without distortion. You can spend a lot more and get completely transparent clean boost (on something like the Centaur by Klon) but this is hard to beat for around $50.
