This mixer is very easy to use, very straight forward.

Sound Quality : 9
The effects (I haven't tried them all yet) seem pretty decent. I didn't expect much, but I'm impressed. I use this for our vocalist at band rehearsal, haven't gotten to try it live yet.

Reliability : No Opinion
Seems to be build very solid. The sliders are smooth, as are the knobs. I haven't had it long enough to know much about it's reliability.

Customer Support : No Opinion

We had a small 200 watt powered PA. It just wasn't cutting it for our vocalist. We use the Mackie with a 1,200 watt power amp, and now we can hear him clearly. Not muddy at all. I chose this one mostly because of the price, with the built in effects, and it has more than enough channels for us.

Very easy to use and versatile mixer with quality effects. I use it for my band rehearsal space and send it into a power amp and then into two PA speakers. it's very cool, you can input just about anything into it. It has phantom power for condenser mics, it has inserts so you can put your own effects, compression on the channels. It has it's own 24 bit effects section with some very usable reverbs and delays. Some of the other effects are quite as good, but at least there is a large assortment to choose from. Everything seems very well thought out and laid out. You don't have to be sober to operate the mixer, which is nice.

sounds excellent to my ears. I don't know how it would stack up against the more expensive mackies, I think the preamps are of a lessor quality and hence the price, but hell, it sounds just fine, espeically for controlling mics and drums and stuff. I don't know if I would use it for a critical recording situation, but if I was ever in that situation I'd probably go either into a professional studio or purchase a high end mixer dedicated to recording. This is more geared for live sound reinforcement and for that it is brilliant. Well-built, seems like it would last, like you could take it to shows and it will hold up for years, it's a mackie after all

Reliability : 10
yeah, I can depend on it, built like a tank, rugged, no backup needed

Customer Support : No Opinion
don't know, seems like their website is a good one

I play in an indie band and this does the trick just fine. Recommended as an all around swiss army knife kind of equipment, every band should have a dfx12 - it's cool, I'm glad I bought it. if it were stolen, yeah, I'd buy another one. I compared it with the Behringers and this sounded better and seemed better built - mackie seems like a good brand. I wish it had more headphone outputs I guess. that's it, a good piece of equipment
