Ease of Use : 10
The usual 3-knob distortion. Idiotproof.

Sound Quality : 10
they say that this is a 80s compressed high gain distortion and it is. So if you don??t like this kind of sound you shouldn??t buy it.

Reliability : 10
First class building quality. I own it 3 years and it never failed.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Since it allways worked like it should I never needed to contact them.

Overall Rating : 10
You get what you paid for!

Volume, Gain and Presence. Everybody should be able to cope with this distortion.

Sound Quality : 10
With my slightly tuned 1974X Marshall (original Celestion G12H from the 70s and shinrock trannies)and a standard strat with a Seymor Duncan JB in the bridge position with a little bit of reberb and delay it??s the typical 80s distortion. With a 50s specs telecaster and an old 100W Twin Reverb with Master you??ll get 70s rocksounds like Lynyrd Skynyrd etc.. This distortion does a few things very well but it is not suposed to be an allrounder.
Compared with the Lovepedal Valve Drive it has more mids or isn??t as thin as the VD. On the other hand it doesn??t has the muddynes like most Rat-based distortions. I like it much better.

Reliability : 10
Seems to be well made. Very high weight for such a small box. High quality jacks and pots etc..

Customer Support : No Opinion
Works very well since I bought it (two years ago) so I never dealt with the manufacturer.

Overall Rating : 9
For what it??s supposed to be it??s a very good distortion, but the price is realy high, so I only give it a 9.

Very easy to use, just plug it in, adjust 3 knobs, and away you go.

I've been playing a long time, over 35yrs, and I'm very impressed with the MRD from Mad Professor. At the price, this thing should impress. It's the most $$ I've paid for a pedal in a very long time, but it delivers. The tone is flawless, very clear, biting lead tone with clarity yet chrunch not usually found. There is no hiss with this boutique pedal also, very high gain, more than you'll need. I run the pedal thru a Mesa Boogie DC-5 on the clean channel, with an 88 PRS Custom axxe. The MRD sounds better than the Mesa distortion channel, at least the way I normally use that side of the amp. There is much more definition with the tone with the MRD pedal. I haven't played thru many distortion pedals, but the samples on the net for the MRD convinced me to give this a try, and they didn't dissapoint me, at least thru my Mesa rig.

Reliability : 9
I think so, too early to tell, but this simple of a pedal should last. The case is built like a tank. Don't expect problems.

I play Classic rock, 70-90s rock, ala Journey, Kansas, Van Halen, Toto, etc.

I play a Mesa Boogie DC-5 with an 88 PRS Custom, with a custom pedalboard, with various other effects.

Best feature of this pedal is the presence control and the smooth nature of the controls over their range. The feel of the POT's are silky as well. If it had a mid or bass control, that would be nice, but not critical.

This unit will be a big help on leads, not yet sure how it will do for rhythm (just had a few days so far).

If you want a good solid high quality distortion, this unit is it. It is like a Marshall, has that one great sound, which I needed for an 80's rock cover band. It doesn't use gates or expanders, so it's very transparent. I wouldn't recommend this for simple overdrive, but judging this pedal, the Little Green Wonder might be cool as well.

Price is the main drawback. If it were $100 bucks cheaper, I'd give it a perfect 10.

Basic distortion stomp-box. Three knobs and on/off switch. Distortion, level and presence controls.

This is not an all-round distortion pedal. Actually it says that already on the manual (who reads those anyway?) that the sound is more or less compressed and 80s style. If this is not your preference, you might want to look at another pedal.

Pedal is designed by Bj??rn Juhl, the same guy who has designed the BJF pedals, so there is no question that this is a high quality product both sound and quality-wise. Pedal is amazingly quiet compared to the gain amount you get. No hisses or unwanted noises even on the highest gain settings.

It has presence control in place of normal tone control usually found on the distortion pedals. This actually works for this pedal very well, as you can tune in the top end of the sound, which is usually the only problem anyway.

I've played this pedal through variety of amps: through Marshall stacks, Fender vibrolux and even small Peavey Classic 30 and this pedal really gives you that 80s heavy lead sound it promises. But if you are looking for some all-round one distortion pedal to your pedal board, maybe look something different.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank. Wouldn't expect any problems in the nearest decades.

Never had to deal with them. I live in Finland though, so it shouldn't be a problem to get proper support, if ever needed.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing semi-professionally around 15 years and everything from classical to heavy rock. I own variety of gear: strats, lespauls, modeling amps, tube amps, digital pedals and boutique stuff.

My current pedal board setup where this pedal is now consists of couple of TS boutique clones and Fulltone Fulldrive 2. This pedal was needed for those more compressed, singing solos I was lacking some sound arsenal for.

I bought this because local music store had it on shelf, I tried it with Marshall stack they had there and bought it that instant.

This pedal does what is promised in the leaflets. I give it a nine because it is not as versatile as it could be. But on the other hand, this was not even promised and it does the one thing it promises well.

Very easy to use. Three Knobs. One each for Volume, Presence, Distortion. Battery housed in unit, so a Phillips(sp) head screwdriver is needed.

Sound Quality : 6

While it sounds good, I don't know if it is over $250 dollars good. Money really isn't much of a concern, if you are getting quality that works. This pedal has way too much compression for my taste. I used this pedal on a gig, working for a National network, and it kind of left me flat. The compression doesn't allow the pedal to open up. I Love the BJF pedals, and thought this was the MP version of the Dyna Red. I used it with a Gibson Les Paul Standard, an old Steinberger P guitar, w/EMGs, a Fender Twin, and a Mesa 5:50

Reliability : 10

Made with Premium parts. So far no equipment failure, just sonic failure.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I haven't contacted MP yet, and I'm not sure I will.

Overall Rating : 5

I'm a teacher, session player, sometime band member, and have had many distortion pedals.
This one, while cosmetically beautiful is not so great. If it were lost, I'd buy a Dyna Red from BJF
