Ease of Use

Easy enough to use. Time, Mix and Regen controls are pretty standard on a delay pedal. This pedal also has a switch for engaging the modulation effects and has speed and depth to control those. In addition, there is a switch to change the bypass mode from true bypass to buffered bypass. Delay time is adjustable up to 650ms which is longer than most analog delays. If you max out the mix control, the delays will be a little bit louder than your original signal. I was hoping for a 100% wet option, but no such luck. Regeneration seems to interact with the other controls. It's very easy for this pedal to take off in runaway oscillation no matter how you set the controls, but the point on the dial where it takes off changes based on where everything else is set. No manual included with the pedal, but I downloaded it from the website.
Sound Quality

I'm very happy with the sound quality. The pedal is very, very quiet. The fidelity of the repeats degrade the more regeneration you dial in, but that's why you bought an analog delay, right?? I owned an EH Deluxe Memory Man 25 years ago and in comparison to that I'd say that the delays on the Malekko aren't quite as crisp and clean as the DMM, but it more than makes up for that with the low noise and the huge flexibility in the modulation.
You can get many musical sounds from chorus to vibrato to some leslie type sounds. You can also get all sorts of wild pitch swings and out-of-tune sounds as well as bizarre outer space weirdness once you push the pedal into self-oscillation. To be honest, I'm not able to tell a great deal of difference between the true and buffered bypass modes. The buffered may be a tad bit brighter, but if it is, it's subtle.
One thing I want to mention is that this pedal seems to be very picky with the AC adapter you use with it. I have a generic 9V adapter with plenty of available power (800ma) that I borrowed from my chorus box and it wouldn't work on the Ekko 616. The lights lit up, but the pedal was non-functional. The manual says "Non regulated power supplies could kill your new pedal". So I went out and bought a BBE Supa Charger to replace all my various 9v adapters powering my pedal board. It works great with the Supa Charger, but that was $150 extra dollars I didn't really want to spend.

So far, I like this pedal very much. It's quiet and doesn't kill your tone while giving you a huge range of usable (and not-so-usable) echos and modulation effects. I would definitely recommend one of these especially if you like to experiment with strange new sounds.
