OK, pay attention. Don't try and use this with another one of the Marshall series pedals, (a gain pedal) the gain is governed by the last pedal used and it won't do the analog thing, instead it will sum the two and you'll get more circuitry not more tone. It will feedback good so I'll give it an 8 for that.

Still a better buy than an expandora, barely.

Ok, if this is your main distortion pedal.
Forget the series thing, if you set the gain up on this and run it through something else in this series it will be limited by the last pedal, (if it is switched on) instead of adding to the volume. Then when you open either of the other pedals by itself, they will have more or less volume. This may be logical, but is counter to the screaming bitchwailing we all know and love. An example is a BB-2 to a Guv-nor, which is what I tried. Instead of total disarray or wayout feedback, I got very controlled and unaffected sound by the first pedal. Use one of the gain pedals by itself. As a comparison, a tube driver through a ts9 = scream, or a ts9 to a rat...damn.

This has a very distorted blues sound. Very unlike a ts-9.
The tone is very fixed frequency.
It doesn't have a blues sound, more rock I think.

very good to get good sounds out of. On my valvestate marshall amp the boost feature is really good to kick my solos over the edge. but a pain in the arse to get the battery in.

Its really quiet-especially for a raunchy overdrive sound. The effect is usable. Every minor tweak of the gain knob produces a subtle difference, yet really inspiring tone. I wanted to use it with my Marshall because it lets me switch between light overdrive (pedal) and the jazz clean and ultra heavy metal tones of my amp, but this pedal does the light od sounds much better than my amp. Don't even think about buying a piece of s#$t tube screamer-this blows it out of the water any day. Oh-the boost feature is really cool too, but takes more experimentation-it allows you to use the bluesbreaker even if you aren't feeling bluesy. Also the range of tones is HUGE from a "barely breaking" sound all the way up to a cream type overdrive. Top Stuff.

Built like a tank. No problems yet. I'd gig without a backup if I wasn't relying on batteries.

Awesome pedal. I think I will be buying some of the other Marshall pedals as this one rocks (I usually hate pedals too)

It's very easy to use. Quite versatile, but easy to get great tone. Four controls: BOOST/BLUES mode switch, DRIVE, TONE, and VOLUME. Also, there is an LED on the top deck that indicates that the pedal is in operation, and not bypassed. In BOOST mode, it's a clean preamp and in BLUES mode it emulates the tone and overdrive characteristics of a 60s vintage Marshall tube amp. The TONE is self-explanatory. The DRIVE is the "early-stage gain" that controls the amount of overdrive in the BLUES mode. And the VOLUME is self-explanatory. Just increase the DRIVE control until you hear the amount of overdrive that you're looking for. This thing sounds GREAT! It's just what I was looking for.

So far, I've played two different Fender Stratocasters through it and I've used it with a Fender Blues Jr., a Fender SF Champ, and a little Squier Champ. Exactly the results I was hoping for in each case.
In my opinion, the pedal is very quiet. Noise has not been a problem for me at all.
The effect is absolutely excellent. It does a wonderful job of emulating the overload characteristics of an old tube amp [very Marshall-sounding to me] and the DRIVE control allows you to "drive the amp" (virtually, of course) as gently or as hard as you want to.

I've not had it long enough to testify as to its long-term reliability, but the choice of materials and quality of construction are excellent as far as I can tell. Nice, heavy metal case. I'd gig with it without a backup as quickly as I would any other pedal.

I bought the pedal to achieve a blues/overdrive tone at low to mid volume and it does exactly what I wanted it to.
If it were lost or stolen, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I love the tone and I'm very happy with the choice of materials and quality of construction. I am very pleased with the fact that the controls are recessed so that a careless "stomp" won't knock the back out of the pots! My favorite "feature" is the tone. To get this tone, it would be worth having the pedal in just about whatever form it would happen to be in. It definitely helps me make music. It never gets in the way. I also like the LED that tells if it's online or bypassed.
