It is very easy. It is basically just a pre-amp in a pedal. Very straightforward. If you know how to run a guitar amp, you can run this .

This is my setup: A PRS Custom 22. Through either a 1971 50watt Marshall(4 input) going into a Marshall 4X12 w/25watt Greenbacks or a Matchless Hurricane 15. My Pedal board has a 535 Dunlop Wah, Boss SD-1 overdrive, Bigg muff fuzz, then the Marshall GV-2, Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe, Boss Super Chorus, Boss DD-3 Delay & a Whammy Pedal. All Powered by a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power. I run my amps clean so I needed a destortion that would not color my sound to much. This one really doesn't color my sound at all. It doesn't sound fake or weak. I've searched for the last 2 years trying Boss, Voodoo Lab, Fulltone & many others. This pedal is the most true to real amp destortion I've heard(so far). It sounds real close to an old marshall cranked. I've thought about getting the SIB Varidrive, which Josh from Voodoo Lab recommended, but its almost $400, so the $79 that I paid for this was perfect for me. This pedal does any amount of gain you would need, but I set it up for crunch and kick on my SD-1 for lead. I play for the youth group 180 so I get to play for thousands across the nation. My sound needs to be good. This pedal does the trick.

I think I could depend on this pedal. It's the toughest pedal I've ever seen. I don't feel I need a backup.

I've never dealt w/Marshall, but my amp tech has and says they take to long to get parts. But I don't feel I have to worry about customer support w/this pedal.

What can i say...its got MARSHALL written on it :) You can get such a variety of sounds from this thing its almost scary. You can turn the gain down and get some nice bluesy tones, or crank up the gain and add some deep bass and beat the crap outta yer speakers.... or you can roll off some bass add some treble and middle and get that 70's Ted Nugent "stranglehold" sound...raspy and all. And of course for shredheads crank up the gain, deep, treble and back the mid right off for a nasty grungy scooped mid tone....sensitive to pick attach as well very cool

well it certainly is tough enough...metal housing the thing is like a tank...just one beef the battery is a pain to get at...you need a coin or pick or something to remove the screw on the battery cover...a thumbscrew like BOSS pedals would be nice

This pedal rocks...it must be the most versatile distortion pedal out there...better than my BOSS SD or Danelectro Daddy-O...i think the deep knob and middle has a lot to do with the tones you can coax from this monster...boomy bassy muddy to hissy fizzy mondo gain!

Ok...this is where in boils down too...tone and sound quality. this thing rocks. I got a Marshall VS100R with 2X12..Set on clean channels with bass all the way up and middle at 1.5 and treble controls at 8,
man I tell you this thing rocks...It made my amp sound like it's plugged in with my 4x12, but it's not...=) it's sound like I got a wall of 4x12 when I got my boss reverb/delay RV-3...the best part was that it moves air.... Play drop D (open) then stick you hand near the speaker you can feel the massive air being moved....Whoa!!! I play like Creed, Staind, Limp bizkit, and Industrial heavy rock..This fits the bill.... Hey, if you want blues just turn down gain and fire away.
if you want heavy just mess with six knobs and you can raise hell with it.. One advice compatiblity, it's like a puzzle, tone and sound quality may vary with other type of amps... And the way you play it.
I gave it a 10 because what marshall claim it can do and it did...
"Jim Marshall" thank you... I am going to collect all of pedals they seem like a collector's item too And Jim thankz for the tone dude, who knows if I become famous I get to meet yah...

Overall this pedal delivers and tone/sound than I am loning for along time...it beats Boss's Metalzone ( sounds digital ) and I have been playing since I was 13.... And if they stole this baby.. I'll buy one the next minute I found out it's gone. And I am going to check out other marshalls pedals, see what they sound-like....this one the bomb yo.. it's got a wierd name governor but I think it's saying governor of all tone... hehehehe.. like the gold color too...Well try it out guyz...make sure you got good return policy just in case it not compatible with your rig or set-ups....Watchout for my other reviews and buying the Jackhammer and the Supervibe soon like very soon...so till then see yah
