Marshall SV-1 Supervibe Chorus

very easy to use. intuitive.
nice access to battery but it won't satisfy people who use it in pedalboard. i use power adapter.

I use it with Epiphone MIK Les Paul and Laney LC15 tube amp with 112 cabinet. It reproduces very good quality sound with no hiss. The chorus effect is rather subtle. It doesnt mean "hard to notice". There's possibility to achieve chorus like Arctic Monkeys.

To be honest I didnt fully read the instructions. Was too keen to get the pedal plugged in and play. So didnt fully understand the operation of the filter. But other than that its very straight forward.

I run either an American Strat or an Epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Paul into my pedal chain of Dunlop ZW45 Zakk Wylde Wah, Dunlop MXR ZW44 Zakk Wylde Overdrive, Boss OC-3 Super Octave, Boss MT-2 Metal Zone, Boss GE-7 Equalizer, Maxon Phase Tone and then the Marshall SV-1 Supervibe. This all runs direct into the front of my Fender M-80 Head and 2 x 300 watt quads.

It is not the most audible sound on a clean amp but with my L.P on the front pickup and full treble it really brightens up my sound then on the Bridge pickup with half treble and the Metal Zone on it gets some nice fat Tone to it.

It works great for splitting sound to 2 amps and really fattens the tone.

I Love Zakk Wlyde and his overall tone so realistically this is prob not the best pedal for me to achieve those goals but im quite happy with its flexability.

My only complaint if any would be that when using it with my distortion I am actually after 2 tones.
1 thick and fat for rhythm, Thus the filter would towards the CUT side of the dial but then for lead i like a crispy almost doubled sound which requires the filter to be dialed toward PASS.

Oh well we cant always have our cake and eat it too.

I love the shape and design of the pedal.
Being a Zakk Wylde fan I wear Combat boots built big enough to decimate an entire Legion of ***holes with a single kick and the angled face with the switch on it is BRILLIANT!! The MXR and Maxon pedals are flat and its hard to stomp the switch button accurately.

Unfortunately this pedal has not gigged yet so I cant comment but I can say I would be confident enough to use it without a backup. Im pretty anal about caring for my gear and while i stomp on it when using the pedals they are kept covered and protected when not.
All my pedals are mounted to a board via the 4 screws in each corner being removed then a Bicycle chain link being screwed in place then the other end of the link screwed down to the pedal board, so I dont really have worries about pedals flying about.

I play all things from Metal to Blues to a bit of Stoner rock to some clean channel stuff and i think the pedal suits well to all of these.

If it needed to be replaced I would prob get another one or possibly a Boss CE-5

As I stated before I love the idea ofthe Angled face and switch mounting.

The only desing feature i dont quite like is the chrome knobs. They look absolutely awesome in theory and cosmoetic appeal but in practicality they make it a bit hard to see where you are actually dialing them in at.

If i had to name or state anything I wish it had all I could say is maybe a little more intensity on the chorus efect as in some clean use it is a little weak

Nice chorus/vibe pedal. Very easy to use and explore. Adds nice subtle character to your sound, which is what I was after. Manual is a good source for info on where to start. Can't really make adjustments during a gig but I just set it and forget it, its part of your sound.

It gives me exactly what I was looking for. Nice subtle chorus and vibe, but again completely adjustable to your liking. Fills out the tone I wanted. I place it last in my chain of effects. It works well with any good guitar. I use Gibsons, Fenders and Crafter. Played thru a Mesa Boogie 5:50. Not noisy at all.

I do indeed use it for gigs and while I depend on it, I could play on without it if it died on the spot. Take extra batteries. Easy to change quickly. Built very solid. I like it a lot.

Never had to deal with Ibanez for anything.

I play a combination of high energy and soulful RnR. This unit adds greatly to the tone and sound I was looking for. I play in a band with keyboard, bass and drums. I'm the only guitar and wanted a bit fuller tone at times. Mainly play Strats and a Crafter copy of the T5 Taylor. (Great guitar by the way and 1/4 the cost of a Taylor.) The Kent Armstrong single coil sounds great with this pedal. I play thru a Mesa Express 5:50 Been playing for 36 years and have had a lot of junk and a lot of good equipment. If it were ever lost or stolen I would surely replace it with the same unit.

Hmmm this is the reason I'm writing the review at all. I was highly dissapointed with the lack of effect. I could hardly tell when it was on at all unless I had the speed up to vibrato levels. Also a slight amount of distortion was noticable.

I'm playing an Ibanez SZ520 with EMG pickups through a Marshall JCM800. I was hoping to have chorus as a separate pedal from my Korg multi effects but it's just a waste of power in my opinion with this pedal

I like to play mostly hard rock sorts of stuff. I like an effect that is very noticable which you can tone down. I find that the Korg1500g multi effects chorus blows this away. I thought that a dedicated unit would be better - maybe mine's broken??

At first it looked put together well but after a month the first output broke so i carnt now use it in stereo. I also couldnt find a wall wart that would go in it without making it hum.I just wouldnt take this to a gig

not a bad pedal if you want a chrous sound but not if you want a lush watery warm chrous then get something else.

very simple and straightforward controls, I knew it was worth keeping within the first 15 minutes of playing it!

This is where it shines! you can get an amazing quality, noiseless chorus effect that has the option of being either more of a leslie speaker simulator, the pedal can also give you some great contempoary/ modern sounds. Not forgetting it's totally TRUE BYPASS, but I recommend only using it with George L cables! these leads cut noise by more than 50%! I normally use my supervibe pedal with a keeley phat BD2 and a Keeley Java Boost going clean into a Peavey Bandit 112. It sounds beautifull with my JJ Retro guitar!

This pedal is extremley dependable, compare it to a boss chorus body shape! This one's made out of metal and I've even dropped it accidently onto a concrete floor and it still works perfectly. It works under all enviroments, in the studio and at gigs perfectly! I've even used it in minus temperatures at an outdoor music festival. altough it could be slightly tougher, the knobs could be made smaller, stopping them poking out but for #45 brand new! try and find a tougher chorus pedal. It's as solid as a diamond!

I am a lead guitarist and I play in the style of HARD ROCK. here is my setup JJ Retro Guitar/Budda Wha/Keeley Java Boost/Boss-Keeley BD2/Keeley Fuzz Head/Boss DD3 japanese original/Peavey Bandit 112 amp. Marshall supervibe and Line 6 Liqua Flange in FX loop of amp. I love the leslie effect that the supervibe can produce, it can really add lots of Hendrix/Vintage Magic to your sound. If I could afford it I'd choose the Fulltone Deja Vibe over this pedal but that costs miles more money! 100's of pounds infact. so to conclude #45, true bypass, sterio out, all analogue. I think it's well worth it! go and try one, you'll be amazased.

I use a Blade TE-3 Strat with an EMG-SA Set in it. Im running this Sv-1 effect straight into the Laney TF300.
I ve teseted the Boss CE-5 and the SV-1 for a long time. The SV is more brilliant.This is one of the best chorus pedals that I've heard. Near the TC Chorus.

pretty easy to use. a really basic pedal.
kind of small knobs, so not so easy to adjust on the fly in a show...

I had the same problem as severyone else with a large hum noise...
but then I put in a battery and the things completely silent.
its basically a problem with unclean ground in the ac adapter. easily fixable with a clean ac adapter designed for use with pedals. or just get a rechargable battery.

the thing is built pretty solid, so you'd have to try really hard to break it. I've seen it dropped, kicked, had beer spill on it, the usual works... it sounds good.

But it's because I was looking for a "VIBE", not a chorus pedal, which I've played through a bunch, and wasn't what I was looking for.
Strat,Keeley Modded DS-1, Keeley Modded TS9, SV-1, Ibanez Delay, Blues Delux, which I love.
I play mostly blues, SRV, Clapton, Buddy Guy, etc. and the added tone is great.
Adds magic to Little Wing, River of Tears, (Clapton), Feels Like Rain, (Buddy Guy).
No problem with noise as noted by other reviews. It may be because of my set up, ie. I don't play a high gain program, however I do over-drive my amp.

Built solid.
If it failed during a gig, I would work around it for the night.
I don't depend on batteries for power. I use a 1 Spot, which has worked perfect for the past year with all my pedals.

I really like the sound, even though when making the decisiion to purchase, the reviews that said the pedal was noisy made me a bit nervous.
Glad I went with the positive reviews. High Gain settings may cause a problem.

Very easy to use. The manual has some basic settings. It's a pretty basic pedal though so if you REALLY need the manual you should really think of taking up another pastime other than guitar.

Setup: USA Strat -> Dunlop 535Q -> Ibanez TS-7 -> MXR phase 90 -> SV-1 Supervibe -> Boss DD-5 delay -> Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10. At first I was disappointed because the unit was pretty noisy. I could hear my air conditioner make this thing hum every time it came on while I was using it. I read a few reviews here to see if anyone else had the same problem. That's when I came across a post about using a zero noise AC adaptor. So I picked up a DanElectro zero noise adaptor at Guitar Center. WOWIE KAZOWIE Batman! That made all the difference. No noise. Zip. Nada. With the air conditioner on and my PC running next to it.

As far as tone goes this unit is awesome. I think some of the other posters must have been smoking crack when they said it sucks or is too subtle. For a relative low priced chorus pedal this thing can mimic digital and analog pedals. If you get the depth, speed and your overdrive setup correctly you can make some very Hendrixish/Trowerish with this puppy. It's a keeper.

It seems tough. I haven't dropped it on its head yet but it feels very solid.

I haven't had to call about this pedal or my ED-1 compressor so I guess that's a good thing. Doesn't really give me any idea of what their support is mike though.

Excellent unit. Anyone from phenom to a nipple scratching nitwit should be able to get good tone out of this thing.

I'm usig it with a fender Stratocaster through a Marshall 50w one channel combo.
This pedal sucks. It's very very noisy, really I can't understand how at Marshall could come out with a product so noisy when used with Marshall amps! The Depth knob is a real pain. I have tried it with "clean" channels, and it works decent, but, believe me, you can't use it if you tun up a bit the gain of your amp. I'm very disappointed with this pedal.

Really, a bad deal.
The price is high, the quality of sound is bad... too much gain and almost not usable with a high gain amp.

4 knobs - pretty versatile and easy to get a good sound out of.

Here's my story. I play in a bluesrock band, and wanted a good leslie type of sound, like SRV Cold Shot you know. Tried several pedals and bought Rocktrons Vertigo Vibe, which should emulate a leslie. However, I found it to be too "flangey or phasey" so its up for sale now. Tried Hughes and Kettner rotosphere, but found it too expensive. Tried JD Rotovibe and JD univibe, but wasn't really that impressed. Then I got a really good deal on this Marshall supervibe. And MAN what a pedal. It makes the best leslie emulation I have heard - almost as good as the Rotosphere. When I jugde a leslie emulating pedal, I listen to it while I imagine and picture the sound of a rotating speaker. I must say that this pedal really nails that sound. And to my ears it doesn't have that unnatural Phasey or Flangey sound. Sounds very natural and it is also possible to get a slight trebly shimmer to your tone (thanks to the cut/pass knob), which i think sounds much like SRV. Sounds good with or without overdrive after it. I have
speed=4 o'clock,
depth=10 o'clock,
fix/var= between 12 and 1 o'clock
cut/pass=fully clockwise.

The unit is true bypass, which is a plus as well. For what I'm using this pedal for I'll give it a 10. I wasn't really looking for a traditional chorus sound after all, so my mark is based on my opinion on qualities of this unit as a rotary speaker simulator. Very cheap as well.

This pedal is very easy to use. if you can't use it you must have some serious cerebral damage going on inside your skull. The manual is good - in depth description and offers 4 different settings to get you started. Although I believe the whole idea of having an effect is to fuck with it to get the sound you want. Be daring and spend the time to explore the pedal.

The sound quality of the Supervibe is fucking brilliant considering the price. About half as expensive as the Boss pedals etc and in my opinion better sounding. The supervibe has a much better vintage sound than alot of choruses out there. Use it with a DD5, and Bf2 Flanger and Ibanez Mostortion pedals. I use a 1982 Custom Telecaster with a seymour Duncan pickup in the bridge through a laney TF320. BUT I must say it is a real BIG PAIN IN THE ASS about the HUM which this pedal gives off when engaged. Sure you can use a battery or a seperate adaptor but thats extra fucking around that you don't need when gigging. It fucks me off that I have to keep buying batteries for this pedal when all the others run sweet as through the single adaptor/daisy chain set up. so that is the ONLY problem with the pedal, pitty it's such an annoying one!

Definitely dependable, I have gigged it wothout backup - and tough as fuck. Sturdy as and solid - can take a beating even in a pub full of dumbass drunken redneck rugby heads.

I play in an original band. The Supervibe is part of our sound. I am a big fan of funk style guitar playing (frusciante, nolan, prince etc) and the supervibe is great at getting that wicked "choppy chicken pickin" sound. If lost or stolen I would probably splash out and buy an expensive chorus that would be as solid as the supervibe, I only say that because of that fucking HUM! Pity coz it's such a sloid pedal.

Standard 4 knob chorus. Inverted phase stereo out, typical with stomp boxes. Bought it used no manual, but dont need it anyway

Use it in this order. One of 18 guitars> morley wah volume> Roland sustainer> Marshall Edwards compressor> Marshall Supervibe> One out to Marshall half stack with rack processors in its loop, The other out goes to a morley overdrive unit>to an old sun concert lead 200w with 2x10 cab. I use this unit last in my chain before the amps because it gives a bright sparkle here. When it is placed before other boxes it looses about 15% of its sound quality. I'm an electronic tech and Know uou must use a zero hum adaptor or the hum will be amplified by the pedal. The boss or dan electro 200 MA should surfice. I modified my adaptor with a choke coil to get rid of the hum in mine. Its unique to this pedal not theyre other boxes. As far as sound goes it can be adjusted for a littel or alot. Like with all effects if you use more than 50% effect depth you arent playing a guitar anymore. If a sound setup needs more than 50% effect you either suck as a musician and got to cover up you're crappy playing, have a crappy guitar and amp, or just don't appreciate the sound of a guitar anymore. Ask any professional and they'll tell you effects are like spices on food. If you cant hold a croud when you play, You cant cook. So many musicians these days want to be the whole band and think a pedal will do it, instead of learning theyre instrument and learning to get along with other musicians. This pedal does what its supposed to and does it well. I have 1000 dollar rack units that do the same but this one is mobile and easy to use. I have hundreds of digital effects in my studio I can add to a guitar once theyre recorded clean. Cant do anything with it if the sounds coverd up by too much effect to begin with.

Had it for 2 years now without a glitch of any kind. True bypass, solid construction. Knobs are hard to read in the dark, Black on silver, but I use basically one setting anyway.

Its a chorus that interacts well with other boxes. If its placed in the chain before the echo/amp (where its supposed to be)it functions best for me. Been playing for 38 years, 20 professional. God has it been that long. Ive owned or do own most of the competitor products out there. Some suck and some don't this one enhances my sound. Of corse I dont want to sound like everyone else. I gave up my copycat days many years ago. Its too boaring. This littel brick has enough to get a great sounding chorus. Thats why I bought it. If you need something heavier than this try a flanger or get a guitar synth or something. I prefer to have some of my guitars original signal ending up coming out of my cabnet an not coverd a wall of effects.

Very simple stompbox type arrangement with 4 rotary knobs for chorus shaping (ultimately depth/warble control). User friendly!

Considering the relatively cheap price of this unit, the overall sound quality is really quite good. When I was shopping around for a chorus I tried it side by side with the Boss CE and really preferred the tone of the SV, coupled with its more transparent signal path. The chorus is quite nice, bright but still smooth and "rounded" the way a good chorus should be. Adds that perfect "shimmer" and fullness to the sound without being overbearing or overly ice-picky. You can modify the tone from off to subtle to totally overboard effect which is reassuring for those more experimental moments. I've used it in conjunction with a few rigs; Framus Cobra through Mesa 4x12 and DIY open back 2x12, Mesa Nomad through the same cabs, Fender SF Twin, Fender Stage 160, old SS roland amp. The results are pleasing for each application either in effects loops or in front of the amp as the situation demands. I do agree with the problems of other reviewers - there is a loud hum with an incorrect power supply that is way too offensive to ignore but with batteries and the correct supply (I think the standard boss unit) you'll be fine. I like the construction of the pedal; its a lot heavier than it looks and remains stable on even spongy carpeted floors. Another factor I touched on above was the transparency of the signal which I found to be excellent. With most of my pedals, I try to avoid looking at whether thay are "true bypass" or "buffered" etc and just judge the sound with my ears. I have experienced some apparently "true bypass" pedals which colour/strip the tone too much and vica versa. Even true bypass will colour your tone as there is at least another circuit and guitar lead for your signal to pass through. I also have pedals which are exclusively for studio use so true bypass is not an issue. I am reluctant to use pedals of any sort which strip tone too much but will happily include this one in my live rig. So overall you're getting pretty nice chorus sounds with a good degree of tonal variation in a tonally transparent package. What more could you want? A 55 tweed deluxe? well apart from that... A well deserved "8".

Solid construction has not faulted thus far. Also I really like the switching action of these pedals - feel solid when you step on them and the action here is smooth and instant. Have a Marshall Jackhammer which is the same construction but the switch is not as smooth - maybe I just got lucky with this one.

Have a good relationship with my local dealer. Can't see anything going majorly wrong without getting it sorted

Good solid pedal with versatile and musical tones and suprisingly good signal transparency. What's not to love? Buy one if you're looking for a chorus that's more versatile and less noisy than a small clone and more transparent/better sounding that the boss version. You'd probably have to knotch up more than one price range to find better.

If you are into Vibratos and chorus pedals then this is a good pedal. It is easy to use without a book. It has four settings. The Speed knob is how fast the effect is. The Depth is basically how loud you want your effect to be, the Wave is what turns the effect from a chorus sound to a vibrato sound, and the filter is like a tone knob in a way. It may take some time to get it to sound like you want but good sounds ARE possible to achieve.

Some people on this site said that this pedal was noisy when powered by an adapter and quiet when you use a 9volt battery. This is true sorry to say. It makes a loud humm when you power this pedal with an adapter. Not sure why it does that. But, this is not a big problem if you get a noise reducer pedal. Boss has a good noise reducer pedal. But if you don't wanna spend your money on a noise adapter just buy a 9 volt battery. It is quiet as a mouse when you use one of these. Other than that little defect the pedal sounds great. You can get it to sound like a Jim Dunlop Rotovibe if you play with it. The Supervibe is a good Leslie sounding pedal too.

This is built like a tank like everyone says. Stomp the mess out of it. 9 times out of ten you won't break it. I dont play gigs so I wouldn't need a backup. Even if I did gig I bet anything that this would last a VERY Long time. As far a using it I would definetly not use it for recording an entire song because the vibrato sound can get irritating if you try to make an entire song using the vibrato. The vibrato is good only on spicing up solos and background effects like Jimi Hendrix had in some of his songs.

I play R&B, soul, a little rock. I basically like to try to immitate my favorite guitarist (Ernie Isley from the Isley brothers). I heard he is currently using a Jim Dunlop rotovibe but I didn't have enough $$$ to get one so a bought a Marshall supervibe which does the same thing but sounds slightly different.

Very easy to use. A classical analogic chorus. You can turn the wave form knob to go from the modern chorus to leslie effect.

I use a Fender Standard Strat, put it into SuperVibe and then to my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Tube Amp, and it sound very good. I like this pedal first of all because it's an analogic effect; second, it has a real passive bypass, so no alteration on original sound when turn off, and a real respect of level sound when turned off.
I used many kinds of chourus, from Boss Super Chorus to Boss Chorus Ensemble, but i prefer SuperVibe cause it's hotter and more vintage.
It's simply to use and you can obtain any kind of sound, even if you play vintage music or modern music.

The box is resistant and affidable.

I play any kind of rock music, from classic rock (Hendrix, Police, and 70's) to hard rock music (Van Halen, Ozzy, ecc.); but sometimes i also play blues or country or jazz, but fondamently i am a rock guitarist; don't be afraid to use this pedal for many kinds of music.

The SV-1 is of easy operation, the manual has examples of parameters, being easy thus its use in diverse musical styles, the pedal is original of plant.

I have used the SV-1, with several setups of guitar and amplifiers, notice that with guitars to stratocaster its sound it is more natural and similar as one chorus must sound, in guitars as gibson sounds a little distorted, binding in the Loop of the amplifier its sound is weakker and extinguished, to put as the sound of this pedal with guitars said is fantastic to stratocaster and amplifiers Fender or marshall, and Warm Music(Brazilian Amp)

The pedal is trustworthy, never had problems with it, the casting metal box is very resistant.

I ordered an email for helpdesk of the Marshall in Brazil (country where I live) I was answered in the same day, the reply was clear and objective excellent

I play diverse musical styles, Rock, Pop Rock, Funk, DiscoMusic, Brazilian Music(mpb)and Bossa-Nova. always use the SV-1 that I play Funk, Bossa-Nova and Pop Rock, I chose this Marshall because I find chorus more complete of the market, already I had other pedals of chorus, to put the SV-1 I am special, mainly to play Bossa-Nova.

To get the sound you would like out of this pedal is pretty easy control wise. The manual is a definate to look at if your not entirely sure what each dial does but sometimes its better just to fool around with things untill you find a sound that you prefer.

Effect wise the sounds possible to get out of this a good but what i get with mine is terrible. Every time i strum a note it adds some type of distortion or overdrive, no matter how soft i strum, how mellow the settings are, what pick up i use, what guitar i use it always sounds crap due to the overlay of distortion. It didnt do this in the shop but i presume that something may be broken. Battery or adapter doesnt change this although the battery does make it worse. I run this through a marshall mg50 with a ehx big muff and an ibanez rg320 so its not like im running it through cheap equipment.

I would never depend on this pedal or any marshall pedal from now on after owning one of these. I definately wouldnt gig with one, I dont even use it now it just sits in my draw.

Dont know of anyone who could fix this and im sure the waranty would be over by now if it even had one that is.

Overall this pedal would be good IF IT WORKED! If this were lost or stolen i would never consider getting another one I would go into a boss ce1 or ce2 depending on availability, as i have played on a ce2 and loved it, no distortion added nice beautifil sound.
I may have given this thing a bad rap but others seem to like it, sounds like mine could be a dud, and for that reason i plan to steer clear of any marshall pedals in the future, their amps are fantastic but the pedals..

This pedal rocks ass. Very easy to use, just toy w/ it for a couple minutes to get the sound you want out of it. Just 4 knobs, not rocket science.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A REGULATED, 200 MA, ZERO NOISE 9V ADAPTOR!! When I first hooked up this pedal, i was powering it through my old ibanez 300 ma 9v adaptor, and whoa!! horrible buzzing noise!! i was like wtf, it worked fine in the store w/ the batterey, so i read into it, and this pedal just reacted much worse than any of my other pedals to my old cheapo transformer. Anyway, I got a danelectro zero noise adaptor, and sure enough, it's totally silent. This is the best chorus i've heard, and I have tried every Boss chorus there is, and a couple ibanez. very clean, not over the top, perfect w/ clean tones or distortion.

it's Marshall, full steel construction, it'll survive. but nothing's indestructable.

I play rock/metal and this chorus is perfect for laying over the top of distortion to make a section stand out, or for playing w/ a clean tone in a melodic part of a song. i'd definately get another one if it disappeared. these new Marshall pedal are awesome!!

I found this pedal to be very easy to use, even though the controls are not the standard speed, delay time, depth, and mix that I like to see on higher end chorus pedals. The instructions included with the pedal are very clear and give several good example settings that can be used as a starting point.

I have a Yamaha UD Stomp which is a fun pedal and can certainly cover the range of sounds that this pedal can cover, but I wanted another chorus for "quick and dirty" sound adjustments that does not require the thought and time for programming as required by the UD Stomp (similarly with a delay pedal). The price for this pedal was very good, so I decided to try it. It fits the bill quite well.

I have a large collection of effects pedals and am always rotating them in and out of the mix. I also have a pretty large collection of guitars. I am using this pedal primarily with a Carvin Holdsworth Fatboy through a Carvin Legacy amplifier or a Fender Hotrod Deville for fingerstyle jazz playing. The only other effects I have combined with it right now are an Ibanez Echo/Delay which I am using for very subtle analog-like delay. The pedal is plugged into a large chain of other (mostly true bypass) boxes, though, and does not seem to add noise or degrade the signal. Contrary to what at least one other reviewer posted, the pedal does not add any noise when used with an AC adapter. In my case, the power is coming from a Furman SPB-8 powered pedal board which is plugged into one of the outlets of an ART SP 4x4 power conditioner; there is pretty good isolation from ground noise etc.

This chorus pedal covers a range of sounds from very light and subtle shimmer to classic chorus sounds. It covers the range of sounds I wanted for this particular application. For really deep or unusual chorusing and/or pitch-bending/wiggling type sounds that can be obtained by adjusting the delay time along with the rate, depth, and mix, then you need to spend more money on a pedal like the Fulltone ChoralFlange (which I also own and use as a Flanger) or the Yamaha UD Stomp. You can adjust feedback on the UD Stomp as well, which is usually an adjustment found on Flangers and not Choruses (the UD Stomp is a programmable Delay and modulation device).

This pedal is built like a tank. It is extremely heavy for its size. I don't gig right now so I am not concerned with its reliability in a live situation, but if I were to go live I would always have a backup (and I have enough pedals for that...).

I have never dealt with Marshall so I am not rating this category.

Overall, I give this pedal a good rating for doing what it is supposed to do, being structurally sound, and available for a very good price used. For adding a slight shimmer or classic chorus sound to fingerstyle jazz or chord strumming it is a great pedal. It is not the right pedal to choose if you want weird modulation effects - it is not designed for that.

It takes a little time to get a good sound out of it. The controls can go into the "overboard" range if they are dimed. Restraint is the key here. It has a lot of play with the settings but I found one basic sound I really like and I pretty much leave it there.

I used this with this setup: Carvin strat with SD mini-humbuckers-> phase 90-> Guvnor or Jackhammer-> Ibanez analog delay-> mxr noise gate-> supervibe-> stereo out into a 1965 Pro Reverb and a Hot Rod Deluxe. This chorus sounds amazing when properly tweaked. Very watery and glassy. I mostly use it on clean tones. It has more definition but a little less warmth than my other choruses, a CE-2 and a Rocktron Tsunami. It tends to work better with the neck-pickup clean sounds than the other two, but gets a little sharp and edge-y when used with heavy distortion and the bridge pickup. Stereo seperation is decent, and gets much better when I kick in my delay and phaser. I was on a kick to get rid of my digital stuff and would have sold it if I hadn't discovered that it's analog. Guess I'm lucky I kept it as it has a very clear and unique tone to it. I'll give it a ten because I feel it performs exactly as it was intended to. It's no more noisy than any other chorus. They all add a little noise...

Hmm...I already had one fail on me. One of the outputs quit working and it started humming loudly after about two months of very light use. I've had the replacement for over a year and it seems to be okay.

As I said before, the first one failed after 2 months of light use. Spent quite a while figuring out who to call and then had to pay for shipping to send it back. Marshall advertises a five-year warranty but fails to mention that these Indian-made pedals only get a 90-day guarantee. I only found that out after calling the distributor. It's a pretty crappy warranty considering how much these things retail for...I'll give it a low score hear because of the short warranty.

I play blues, classic rock - Trower, Clapton (cream-era), Pink Floyd, etc. Occasionally some Hawkwind psychadelic stuff. Been playing guitar off and on for 6 years, Bass for 10 years. If it were stolen I would consider myself lucky they didn't take the Rocktron Tsunami chorus which I prefer greatly over this one. It's a good chorus, but I wouldn't replace it.
When I bought it I didn't really compare it to anything, as it was on sale real cheap ($59). It was the only true-bypass chorus at that price. I was really amazed to open it up and find only ANALOG chips in it! Id give it an 8.5 overall, but since I can't I'll round it up to 9.

Bought this used for $50.00 CAN. Not difficult to figure out. Just keep the speed low (that's how I like it).

Not noisy at all. Running it with a boss metal zone with an old kramer guitar through a jcm900 combo. I loved the fact that there is NO level control. Sometimes level control is good but not on every ******* boss pedal i own!

Haven't had it that long, but like I said I bought it used with a few dings on it and I haven't had any trouble. Left the input plugged in over night once and it totally killed the duracell, so get an adapter.

I actually contacted Marshall to see if they had an owner's manual for the unit. They explained in email that there is no manual for it. They were courteous and all but some suggested settings would have been cool.

Don't want to go too crazy here, but I love it. Best 50 bucks I've ever spent on guitar equipment. Like the looks, like the sound. Never really fooled with chorus effects before so you may want to try a few before deciding on this one.

4 knobs : Speed (chorus rate) / Depth (intensity) / Wave (fixed - variable) / Filter (cut or pass, frequency bandwidth)

It's not difficult to get a good sound out of it (if you're familiar with modulation effects it won't take you longer than a few minutes experimenting), but it heavily depends on what sound you're after! To put this straight: if you're into warm, deep chorus sounds (like Electro-Harmonix' Small Clone): forget it! On the other hand: if you're looking for bright, shimmering, polished chorus (a bit like Boss choruspedals) with a touch of flange & rotating speaker feeling, you're all set!
The suggested settings in the manual are all very usable, I particularly like the "ensemble" setting.

At this moment I use this stompbox in the following setup: Gibson Les Paul > Boss turbo distortion > Marshall Supervibe chorus > Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 W > Marshall 4x12" cabinet.
Sound quality is great, especially on clean sounds (if combined with a Boss Flanger it's amazingly similar to The Cure's early clean guitarsound!). No significant noise.
It's stereo too, but I haven't had the opportunity yet to connect it to 2 amps.
I would like to stress once again: in my opinion the sound is absolutely GREAT, but it might perhaps not be the sound that YOU (yes, YOU!) are looking for! It's all a matter of taste. If you're planning to buy a chorus pedal, go to your musicstore and make sure you try several different boxes so you can compare... play and your ears will do the rest!
I'm overall satisfied with it. My only complaint: this pedal adds a considerable amount of gain and also a bit of extra treble to your sound. If you have 'hot' guitar pickups, your clean sound might get overdriven. Roll down the volumepot on your guitar a bit to prevent this. If it weren't for the superfluent additional gain, I would give the Supervibe a 9 for sound.
(oh, I almost forgot: I also use this pedal for my bassguitar and it sounds fantastic! I can get that typical early 80's new wave/gothic bass sound a la The Cure/Cocteau Twins/Dead Can Dance/Joy Division with it!)

Never had any problems with it. Looks sturdy enough to bear life on the road and accidental drops.

I'm into several styles of music, but I mainly use this pedal for 80's rock and new wave. If it were stolen I'm sure I would buy it again as soon as possible!
I've been playing for more than ten years.
I also own an Electro-harmonix chorus pedal (the 'Small Clone') which is very nice as well, but you can't compare both pedals. Like I mentioned above, they each have totally different sound characteristics, which makes that I use them for different purposes. Generally, I noticed that the Supervibe seems to work especially well for clean sounds on guitars with much sustain and humbucking PU's (eg. Les Paul Models); the E-H Small Clone does a great job combined with distortion, on Strat-style guitars.

This unit is relatively easy to use. The manual gives an adequate explanation of functions. No major tricks here. As on many "stompboxes," a little more "finger space" around the knobs would be helpful, as would larger and clearer markings. But it's no worse than other brands.

I play chord melody jazz guitar. I really like to keep things simple. Occassionally, however, I delve back into my childhood and start playing those old Van Halen and Rush songs. I have one amp: an Evans AE100. If you are unfamiliar with Evans Amps, they started making amps for lap steel guitar. Jazz players discovered that they were powerful, lightweight, reliable and very clean amps. The AE100 weighs less than 30 lbs. and has an eight inch speaker in a ported cabinet and it cranks out 100 watts! This amp is incredible, but it's only clean. I use the Marshall Guv'nor Plus in front of it as the soul (and sole) source of overdrive/distortion (a great pedal). The Supervibe, the only other pedal I use, provides strong chorus that goes from vintage analog to shimmering and sparkly. You can also coax pseudo rotary and vibrato sounds from it. The sound is thick and lush, whether originating from a Tele, a 175, or a Strat. I use the chorus to play glassy single-coil apreggio passages (think John Petrucci) as well as distorted chorus (think vintage Alex Lifeson). I also have a Boss Super Chorus and, side by side, the Supervibe has a much stronger effect and a bigger tone. Anyone who thinks there isn't enough effect from this pedal needs to try a new battery!

All metal casing seems reliable. Time will tell.

Hopefully won't need to find this out!

I've been playing for over twenty-five years, semi-professionally. I've played just about every conceivable guitar over the years! Although I could play pretty much any style, I tend to lean toward traditional jazz with influences like Joe Pass, Jimmy Bruno, Howard Alden, and progressive music (the "thinking man's rock") ranging anywhere from Yes to Spock's Beard to my favorites: Rush and Dream Theater. This is the best sounding chorus I could find for the money and really nails the tone.
