sounds pretty nice for tunes requiring a little gain. but if you crank the gain way up......sound kinda thin. i want a nice thick warm sound, i play it through my marshal 8020 with a fender squire, but im not contented w/ the sound....so i turn on the boost channel and stomp on the pedal to get more gain...and man!!!IT RULES. the only thing that sucks is that when i have a gig, i dont know what amp ill be using and i need more gain than this pedal will be giving me. i really like the contour feature,i can get a whole wide range of sounds.

if u hate someone...kill him with this pedal coz you wont have to use a lot of effort to cause him serious brain hemorage. like someone said, after a nuclear fall out..it will be cockroaches and this pedal, but i think after the all the cockroaches die out this pedal will still exist. the only thing though, it drains the battery after an hour or so....for a period of a month i think i would have to buy 7 , nine volt batteries..so buy a power supply adapter.

a pretty good pedal but i think i wont buy it anymore...coz i dont need to its pretty big and wont get lost, and durable enough to withstand an iceberg collision. the reason i bought this thing is that my favorite guitarist is using this pedal. but i didnt regret buying the thing. i have the best sound in school after mixing the gains of my amp and this pedal.

5 knobs, each knob changes the sound differently, it's as simple as that.

I'm using this with an Ibanez Voyager Guitar, 5 DOD effects pedals (including EQ)a digitech chorus/delay, and a peavy amp. I've had no problems with feedback since I plugged it in to the EQ (it's the next on in the effects chain). Over-all sounds great (even w/out the EQ).

I've had this for about eight months, I had some crakling coming out of it, craked it open and one of the connections was loose, re-soldered that, and it sounds better than ever. I would use this w/out backup, but I'm a sucker for a cool effect.

I play punk/alternative/ska, it's perfect. I'd definitely buy it again, or I'd give it all up and buy a multi-effects unit.

Very easy- just don't use the factory's suggested settings and you're on your way to great tone and outrageous distortion.

The best fixed buget distortion out there, although it's too tame for some (For those people I would recommend the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone) I really can't say enough good things about this pedal.

Short term (up to 3 years) Reliability = 10 Long term Reliability = 1 I can guarantee you that this will perform great for a long time but approx. 3 years from the date you purchased it it will become completely useless. (I guess I haven't checked into having mine fixed though)

Im very satisfied with the sound! It is maybe slightly too hard for my kind of music but I like it! I think Im going to buy a Sovtek Big Muff instead because this is not my dream pedal dist.

I play like the subpop/rock dream flum kind of music and this is not the right pedal for me. But It's a very good pedal if you like to play rock (a bit harder). I wish it was a bit more "un-metallic", like the same distorsion but more creamy.

Very easy to use. Just tweak 6 knobs to get your sound. That's gain, bass, contour, treble and volume.

Great sounding pedal. Anything from blues to heavy metal. Bass response is extemely powerful. But the only drawback is the loud feedback when the volume of the amp is set at a reasonable level. Suitable for recording and home use.

Had it for about 8 months and no problems so far. It looks really sturdy. I used this for a gig about a few months back and it just kept on giving out feedback when ever i'd stop so i ended up using the amp distortion.

I would buy it again if marshall fixed the feedback problem. But great sounding distortion anyway.

After 3 years of use, and constantly being babied, cleaned after gigs etc., it rewarded me by croaking in the middle of a gig. Too expensive to fix, so I guess I will toss it.

No I wouldn't. It should last for a few more years. I replaced it with a OS-2 Boss. I have had real good success with Boss products.

There are 5 knobs on this pedal: Gain, Treble, Bass, Volume and Contour. The nature of these takes a little getting used to. The contour knob I haven't seen before the Marshall and it offers everything from Sepultura beefy sound to a very rich overdrive sound. The manual is very helpful and demonstrated hoe to get a wide range of sounds out of it.

In the long run, the sound quality is superb. Although it tends to feedback more than say, a BOSS HM-2 or HM-3, so I wouldn't recommend using it on stage.

I have never used this in a gig due to it's slightly overactive feedback, it's great for home use and basically everything apart from high volumes.

I've only had this for about six months now after my Boss HM-2 broke, but so far I've had no problem although the On/Off switch is a tiny thing in the centre of the pedal and I can visualise a forthcoming replacement.

I really like the sound from the marshall amp combos, so I tried this out and found it gave the same thick, heavy sound so I bought it. I love the real heavy sound it gives but I'm not too happy about the feedback at high volumes.

2, poor. Ive had two of these go bad on me, both with the same problem they use a dual op amp for part of their drive (motorola tlo72cp, I think) both failed and were hell to find replacements for, dont get the ones radio shack trys to sell you they'll sound like garbage and youll porbibly fry em when you install cuz they cant take the heat instead install an 8 pin IC socket it makes things easier and safer and easier in the end.
Most of all if you understood nothing of that take it to a dealer or repair shop, leave the screws in it and let them mess with the bugger.

customer support is virtualy nonexistant near as I can figure, the first time I returned mine it took 6 months to get it back and it still didnt work, the second time I was told that the pedal is out of production and support has been withdrawn on that model (nice work guys!)

End result, works great if it works but if you plan to own one learn basic electronics youll be fixing it alot or go broke at the repair shop for 40$ an hr for 2$ parts. Buy it again??? hell no! never use these at a gig but great for recording projects and other random stuff.

GREAT DISTORTION PEDAL FOR THE MONEY, IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THAT SOMETHING TO GIVE YOU THAT KIND OF CRUNCHY EDGE THEN THIS IS FOR YOU THE ACCOMPANYING MANUAL GIVES YOU DIFFERENT IDEAS FOR TYPES OF DISTORTION BUT I FOUND THAT FULL THROTTLE ON THE GAIN, BASS AND TREBLE IS THE ONLY WAY TO "FLY". ALTHOUGH IT IS A SOLID STATE DEVICE, THE PEDAL REALLY DELIVERS THE REQUIRED "BALLS" FOR THE JOB. NUFF SAID.

I DIDN'T FIND IT THAT NOISY, BUT WHEN YOU'RE CRANKING AWAY ON SOME "HIP" TUNE YOU REALLY DON'T THINK ABOUT IT. IT IS RATHER WARM ON LOWER GAIN SETTINGS WHICH BY THE WAY ARE GREAT FOR BLUESY TUNES.
Reliability

I WOULD SAY THAT IF YOU USE IT WITH A BATTERY YOU ARE DEFINITLY PLAYING WITH FATE. IT TENDS TO SUCK THE LIFE RIGHT OUT OF THE LITTLE 9V. I THINK EVEN THAT FREAKIN' BUNNY WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME "ENERGIZING THIS THING. SO USE AN ADAPTER; BESIDES THEY'RE CHEAPER. I USE IT AS MY BLUES DISTORTION; AS THIS SUITS SOME OF THE SONGS I PLAY FAR BETTER THAN MY "SUPREME 160" DISTORTION.
