Using a telecaster plus, Fender twin reverb reissue. very quiet operation(on/off switching). of course this pedal screams. Great distortion quality, best I've ever used. You too can be Jonny Greenwood...well, almost.

I've only had it a few months, but this pedal is built like a tank. Rugged metal box. I haven't had a single problem out of this unit. I bought this pedal used and was missing battery cover...I hear this is a common problem with this particular pedal.

Setup is: Fender Stratocaster > Shredmaster Pedal > Marshall 50W NON master head > 4X12 (w/greenbacks) cab. For a pedal with a ton of gain, it is pretty quiet & stable, except for the usual hiss at high volume. This pedal gives a very convincing Marshall crunch. Does not kill the guitar's natural tone and lets the amp breathe - especially when played loud. Easy to get Hendrix, AC/DC, Sabbath, Metallica, etc. tones with this gem.

I play music ranging from the style of Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, AC/DC, Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, etc....Been playin approx. 20yrs. If lost or stolen, I'd go crazy looking for another one. Compared it to Metal Zone, DS1, Distortion+ & Jackhammer. The shredmaster's a keeper. The contour help obtain a very wide range of sounds making this pedal very versatile for all the rock spectrum.

I've been around the block a few times, stomped on a few fuzzboxes throughout the years, from A to Z...nothing really ever came close to this slice of heaven. This is the one for me.Get an old silverface or blackface fender(super reverb, bassman 100 or a dual showman),find the right rotovibe,and...sell my clothes,I'm going to heaven! This baby is warm and transparent. No tone loss! From overdrive to paint peelin' distortion.Standard low level hiss when the gain is turned up but it's a small trade-off for the sound you get.The contour knob is fantastic.Tone sweeps galore! Works great with single coils.Unfortunately they are discontinued and the new Marshall line is pale in comparison.I've been stockpiling these...got 5 so far.The cool thing is they are all so consistant. One sounds just like the other.

It's all personal taste.Sound is so subjective. But if you dig Jimi Hendrix,Stevie Ray,David Gilmore,Fusion players from the 70's,(I could name them but there's not enough space),Pearl Jam,Soundgarden,Aerosmith,etc.etc...This is worth checking out. This is a class pedal for anyone silly enough to take the guitar seriously, like me!

This is the easyest pedal to master. 5 big dials, leave the volume and gain, and fiddle with the MASSIVE contour range and treble. Any setting sounds sweet.

I use... 70's Fender Stratocaster(s-s-s)/TangleWood ElectroAcoustic> digital tuner> ShredMaster> Vintage, Cheapo Takai Chorus> 90's Fender Keyboard Sidekick Amp.
...this pedal sounds amazing in my setup, especially when i dont use chorus.
I play a lot of Nirvana, Manic Street Preachers, Pixies, Muse, down to classic rock, or metal such as BURZUM!!! I can get any sound i like, usually by turning 1 dial.
If i switch on my chorus, the two dont work too well together, but i think that is more to do with the other pedal

got it 2nd hand. played the hell out of it for 3 months, still on 2nd battery (1st had been used in shop) i spilt tea on it, jumped on the switch, the knobs, smashed a chunk out of my friends telecaster with it, thrown it, carried it in my bag to school.
the only things are chips to the painwork (strap ped) and the battery flap comes off if i smash it!

I have used many distortion pedals in the last year (DS-1, DS-2, DOD grunge, Zoom 505, RockTek's, Marshall JackHammer, Homemades... more) and this is my favourite! I can get whatever i like from it, with ease.
As a big grunge fan i always wanted a DS-x or a Big Muff but i was dissapointed with the boss, and the EHX was too dear. but i think this does the job better than both of them, think of it as a "Distortion Multi-FX Unit" 'cos you can get anything from it!
I haven't even thought of replaicing it yet, but i think i may buy a DS-1 for lighter fuzz when i use my chorus.
if i had it stolen/lost it, which is quite likely on our pub curcuit i would deffinatly get a new one, or maybe two!
this pedal rules all! but il give it 9 incase i find i dual-turbo version with better bass pot and batter pack :)

Very very easy to get the sound you want. The contour control is cool - but it only really makes a difference to the tone from 12 o'clock onwards.
Bass does bass and treble does treble. If you set gain to zero it still "gains" the signal a bit - it doesnt give you a clean tone. I use an Epi Les Paul Std with it, though you have a bit more control using single coils. The higher signal from humbuckers obviously does make a difference.

The precise Marshall tone. Fantastic harmonics - and if you turn everything to 11 you get a dirtier bass tone than you can imagine - you really need the amp and cab to produce it - maybe a Bass setup would be better suited :)

Fantastic pedal. I can't believe I got through this review without mentioning either Radiohead or Mr. Greenwood - DOH! Yes you can make the exact same sound - what to you expect? He uses one!
If it were stolen I would buy another one. But first I would hunt down the person who stole it and do something nasty to them.

I didn't expect it to be as easy as it was... The Gain/Volume explain themselves... And the EQ knobs (bass/treble) don't do as much as I would've expected. They still make a difference though. The contour knob does something crazy with the tone... Yes it's easy to use. It's for metalheads.. Come on already... (hehe ouch!)

I use a fender nashville power telecaster through an 88 twin. By it's self it sounds great... Kinda noisey but it does really give you that marshall distortion.. Truely... I also use a ProCo original RAT and a dunlop JH-1 wah. The RAT really has more of a high ended distortion and of course, can't get that marshall sweetness. I won't get rid of it.. But it won't stand up to the shredmaster. I'd say I could get radiohead(except for the fact that Johnny Greenwood uses a fender 85 solid state...)... And a whole lot of other bands sounds.. Very wide range on this pedal. I've played many distortions... The RAT and the shredmaster have topped the list.

I got it all fixed up when it arrived in the mail second hand... Ebay... So it should last me a while... It's nothing like those electro harmonix tin boxes... Not a rattle inside this brick. But it has not been long... A 7 to be safe.

I play hendrix, radiohead, foo fighters, pearl jam, etc.... Just a lot of rock and some softer stuff. This pedal reaches across a huge range and I'm sure it could do all i needed it to. I guess we'll have to see. I give it a 9 because nothing is perfect in the guitar player's world... I'll always buy more frickin effects. Delay next.. haha

Right... First off I use Jackson guitars (diff. pickups) into a JCM900 100w head, a GT-3 and a variety of random stomp boxes and cabs. With the contour turned right up, you have a truly ridiculous amount of bottom end. This sounds great, but you have to turn it down a bit in a band situation as you're fighting the bass player! Playing with less gives you a good punky type of sound. I use this pedal rather then the gain channel on my amp, so I would say that the quality is pretty decent! HOWEVER, there are a couple of things to be aware of. First, use a noise suppressor at rehearsal/gig volumes as it can get ugly when you take your hands off the strings. Second, don't plug it into the back of a GT-3 as it sounds truely pants.

This has to be one of the ultimate 90's thrasher pedals! It doesn't do anything fancy, eg feedback, just makes you sound as heavy as, well... The bigger the amp you play it through, the better it sounds too. I'm spending my time now messing around with a multi-effects box to see if I can get a decent distortion sound from that, but I'll certainly hang on to this.

I use fernandez strato type guitar, marshall 100w amp from early 80's(no tube), laney cabin 4*12".
Sound is just what you want it to be. You can get very massive sustain even with lower volume or you can get just a little sustain, just so you can notice it is on.

I play lots of different styles of music and this distorsion works very fine with me. I've played little over 10 years. I love the variety of sounds I can get from this pedal.
Only problem with this pedal is that I would need another one too. Although you can get just the sound you want from it, it takes some time to adjust it to another settings.
