Ease of Use : 10
An early compressor/sustainer from maxon this one dated 1974, only ever seen one other and that was on ebay. Very easy to get a nice sound out of this. I keep mine on all the time I am playing with sustain and level set to 1 oclock position.I am playing a Rickenbacker 330x12 from 2004, and plugged into this starting from the amp a Ross distortion a brown one from Taiwan with that famous chip inside ? from 1976 Strange...next up is a Guyatone Rolly box phase sonix.. then the maxon compandor ... (next ahould be my Wem ic 400 copicat but its in for a service) then the Ricky 12.. The amp is a Reslo class A amp from 1962 18 watts or so of the most harmonic beauty I have heard and the speaker cab is a wem 1x12 cab from 1969 with a previous owner of some fixed ability in the music game !! anyway back to the maxon, you press the button and you dont want to turn it off....

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is transparent as far as I can tell, it evens the volume out something you need on a Rickenbacker due to the immovable pole pieces on the Pickups (high gains) > It adds a lushness to the sound which is very beguiling and this pedal certainly moves your playing up a notch.. certainly is a very forgiving pedal which is no bad thing and after useing for a while actually made me a better player. I just love playing with this pedal... I am not aware of any faults this is a nice 1970's pedal ... It pays to look for vintage...

Reliability : 10
I have only seen one other if I ever see another I will buy it just in case. It is housed in the usual small box MXR style ? I think Maxon made the innards for Ibanez probably Guyatone to and if thats the case 70's vox pedal inners were made by guyaton so all giving each other a helping hand the way it should be !! I would gig with this no problem without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have had no dealings with Maxon, I see the new pedals are not cheap and I think they stick pretty close to the original designs etc although components have changed through time..I would love to deal with them but have had no need to as of yet..After 30myears its still getting along well ...

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 30 odd years, I like the Raconteurs, Big Star, The Who live at leeds and the Dove and lots of 60's garage punk.... lately I play an amalgamation of these styles .. I guess it could be called vintage... if it was stolen I would be heartbroken !... there is no way I would let this happen ...
