Ease of Use : 10
Easy, 3 knob analog delay. Super easy to tweak to that "just-right" balance, also easy to get the spaceship\raygun self-oscillation stuff.

Sound Quality : 9
What a deal! This things sounds like I had hoped. Warm, smooth, organic analog delay. Hard to find analog units these days. When turned up to it's longest setting (300ms maybe) the usual clock noise and degrading of repeat quality was noticed. When I saw it on Ebay and compared it to a listing on Discfreq's site, I knew it was a Boss DM-2 or DM-3 clone. I was right, and based on the number of folks bidding against me, they knew it, too. For you tech-heads, a quick peek under the hood reveals it sports a Panasonic MN3208 BBD chip and MN3102 clock driver. Jrc4558 op amp chip. No ribbon cables here! The internal solder job was neater and cleaner than I expected.
I won't fool with the trim pots as I've read it's too easy to ruin the pedal. My vintage Morley MODAER (rare) delay sounds a little better, due to the MN3005 chip and 18 volt power. But this Maxtone puppy may end up on the pedal board and see some smokey bars once again. The electronic noise freaks would love this pedal, it's very lo-fi. I love how it seems to be "IN your signal" not "behind or on top of" the signal. Digitals sound like a cold blanket to me.

Reliability : 9
It's probably made by Boss for a private-label importer, so yes. I'll give it Boss credentials. This would be a great backup for a player afraid to take a vintage DM-2, AD-80 or AD-9 to a gig. I compared it to the new Ibanez AD-9 reissue and this thing eats it's lunch. It's old and chipped and sounds glorious.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not sure about this. The pedal was also made under the brands: Maxx, Denio,Lazer and Rockson. Probably long out of production, but I think Maxtone makes electronic metronomes and percussion stuff.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
For it's boss style metal case to the green Japanese back label and metal thumbscrew, pedal geeks take note. This wolf in generic clothing is the DM-2 you can't afford, but now can! I'll use it for rockabilly slapback and lead tone-thickening on my hollowbodies thru a Peavey Classic 50 or silverface Bassman 50. Maybe confuse the dog with the alien invasion noises it makes. My Morley delay's mix knob allows me to go from totally dry to 100% delay with no dry signal. This one adds delay to the dry signal like most delays. I keep it up at about 80% wet. I just saw a Maxtone chorus go for $5 on ebay. (probably also BBD) I should have jumped on that. I've been around forever, why have I never heard of Maxtone before this??
