Very simple to use. You just need to understand what it does. It's a velocity controlled filter, so the harder you pick or more input signal you send to it , the more the filter opens up.
You will need to adjust it for different guitars if you switch often but it's pretty easy to set the attack level, just pick at normal velocity and roll the knob until it is triggering the filter.

This sounds great. On clean settings it totally gets the funky rhythm thing. With some OD or fuzz it feels like a wah that is very tight.
I have it after my compression and OD's even though conventional wisdom says to put it in front of them. Here's my logic: if you set it right at the correct trigger point, the controlled sound post compressor will trigger the filter in a very uniform way. In that way, it's much better for rhythm playing.
It's very clean and I like the adjustability of it. This pedal has a very good tone for my rig.
I play a Relic Strat and a Tom Anderson Atom through a bunch of pedals and an 18w hand wired Marshall. It is a great rig. I may need more clean volume though so I'm thinking about adding another amp for clean stuff, maybe a Victoria.

I only have 1, It seems like most of my pedals which is to say reliable. For me, most pedal problems are really pedalboard problems. Bad cabling, crappy velcro, power strips. IF you mount them solidly and power them properly, they just keep working.

I love filters. The really add a level of depth and expression to my playing. Currently I have 3 on my board: a Clyde Wah, a Oooh Wah 2, and this one. The Wah is very cool when you want to do it yourself, like long sustaining lead stuff, but the pedal get used more for stuff that has to keep tight rhythmically.
I've actually been playing now for 32 years, (OUCH!!). I play rock and roll in a band that covers a lot of styles; country, reggae, blues, hard rock. I did compare it to 2 others when demoing. It was my favorite of the three but the other 2 were very nice also. It was really just a personal preference thing.
I just really love to play and experiment with sound. IMO, These types of effects are really for people who want to cover more ground sonically. Since I play in a 4 piece with no other guitar or keys, I do like to mix it up a bit.

Very easy to get great sounds out of this envelope. Works like any other pedal, 3 knobs, in/out, and a power jack (or battery if you want).

I'm using a '97 Sorrento hollowbody with P-90 pups with the Mail Bomb. I believe the previous reviewer was unhappy with with how hard they had to attack the strings to get a response. I would question how hot his pups were. I too had to give a fairly good attack on my strings to get a good response. I thought it could be that my P-90's just aren't giving enough juice. So I gave my signal a small boost with a Banzai Cold Fusion II, just a real small boost. Whammo! That's all it needed! If you have some hotter pups then you will be just fine (or use a boost of some kind). Now that I had that issue resolved I tried every imaginable combination of adjustments on my guitar and the pedal. I got so many beautiful envelope sounds out of the Mail Bomb. I could swear there was a wet duck in there quacking away. I could adjust the depth and lose the duck for for some sticky, stinky jelly funk. This envelope is what I have been searching for. I am VERY pleased with the sounds it gives me. I feel sorry that the previous poster did not think of giving his signal a boost. I got a very wide variety of sounds and it is extremely quick and responsive.

The pedal has a feeling of being well-built and seems very solid. I can't give it a 10 because I haven't had it too long.

I play a wide variety of music, I use the Mail Bomb to nail the sound on The Music's "Take The Long Road And Walk It" and "The People". I've been playing well over a decade and feel I have plenty of experience to have a valid opinion. If this pedal was lost or stolen I would replace it without a doubt. I have searched for a long time for the perfect envelope, the only one I never got to try that I was hoping to was the Lovetone Meatball...but that's too expensive for me (around $550). I love how many different sounds I can get, I love how funky and quick it is. My only complaint is that the LED will blind you! It's way too bright!

Easy enough to use, with only three knobs to twist one way or the other, though no manual accompanying it.

Unfortunately, unless you pick your strings with a good amount of force to actually trigger the envelope follower, what you get is a new-found, bassy tone with much less volume than your original signal. Why this would be deemed favorable by anyone is entirely beyond me. Weird and annoying. As for the triggered signal itself, I'd say it's only fair and with not much variation, no matter how the knobs are turned. Clearly, a Mutron it's not.

May be reliable but that's beside the point.

Well, there is a curious irony in waiting for something in the mail, only to plug it in and find it a complete disaster. Mail Bomb, indeed! But I have to admit to being really puzzled about this given the reputation of the manufacturer as well as the sound-bites to be heard on Musictoyz, for instance. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that the one I got was defective. And, yes, I could have sent it back with the request to have it checked over and all that, but I quickly gave up on the whole matter and simply decided to get the refund. This pedal, like so many others, strongly raises my suspicion that pedals create more problems than they're at all worth.
