this overdrive pedal is really simple because there's not a bad tone in it. just set the gain for how much grit you want (or a totally clean boost) set the level and your off. The tone knob is not very conventional, it's more of a cut-through-the-band-knob. This means that even a very low set- tings it still passes the high end through. This is interresting because at low settings you get more fendery sounds, midway gets kind of voxy, and higher sounds go marshall. At maxed settings the tone knob gets a little weird... not bad but cool weird. No manual comes with the pedal but I had no problems figuring it out. Very hard to get a bad sound.

10+ This is the best sounding overdrive I've ever heard! Between my friends and I, we pretty much owned everything. What this pedal has over all my other pedals is clarity and MIDRANGE. This is not the cheesy tube-screamer midrange hump that kills all the lows and highs either. The sound you put into it comes right back out. No more screwing up my guitar or amps tone just for a bit of drive. the distortion in this pedal sounds more like a cranked amp than a cranked preamp. By far the best part of the pedal is its boost function. I play a non master volume amp (tophat embassy) that sounds incredible turned up loud. However the clean range ends at about 4 or 5 on the volume. The clean boost in the menatone literally sounds like I walked backstage and turned the amp to 10. And that without the level knob all the way up... there's still more! If you have the pedal set at a low gain and set the level to the same volume as the amp its hard to tell when the pedals on or off! Then you can boost the hell out of the sound from there.
THIS PEDAL IS INCREDIBLE!!!

I've only had mine a couple of weeks (its the second one ever made) and I've had no problems. Brian Mena the owner of Menatone encourages a peek inside the pedal to see how its made... All point-to-point. Its made on a terminal board like an old fender, and those last forever. I dont think I'll have any problems. And by the way when switched off the pedal has no effect on the sound at all. I'll give the rating of 7 only cause i haven't had the pedal that long.

The only way to get a Menatone red is to contact Brian Mena yourself. This was the only complaint I have. Don't get me wrong he's not a jerk or anything, its just he builds them one at a time out of his apartment in california. The problem is he doesn't seem to be home alot, or at least not till late at night. But if you leave him a message and a time to call he did get back promtly to answer any questions i had without a wasting his time attitude. Once I ordered the pedal took about a week or so to get to me. And I never had to call him since.

I would buy this pedal ten times again. It's the best overdrive/booster pedal i've ever heard. And for not much more than a tube-sreamer its a steal. If you already have a great guitar and amp and don't want to comprimise you tone for some more sustain you have to get one of these. this is great for any style of music except maybe speedmetal.
