Ease of Use : 10
Like all Monte Allums mods, it's fairly easy to mod. Just read and follow all instructions.

Sound Quality : 10
This pedal was a nice sounding chorus pedal to start with. The Monte Allums mods add a few features that make this classic pedal sound even better. I won't repeat everything here, as the mods do exactly what they are advertised to do. I like the increase in the rate of the effect. It's a much warmer, richer sound. An improvement to an already good thing.

Reliability : 10
It's a Boss stomp. 'Nuf said.

Customer Support : 10
Very quick to respond. Pays attention to his customers. Pretty rare these days.

Overall Rating : 10
This was my first stomp box. I bought it new in the mid 80's sometime. I've always loved this pedal. I was a bit hesitant to "operate" on this thing, but after buying the mod for my CS-3, I couldn't resist. I was very satisfied with the whole deal. The quality of the sound improvements, the price, the instructions and customer support. I even bought the H2O mod for my BD-2.

I bought a second hand CE-2 on the internet. 65 euro is not cheap, but it was the japanese version. I had already ordered the mod before I had bought the CE-2. After buying the japanese version, I doubted to do the mod. The pedal sounded good.
Only 2 knobs, Every combination sounds good.
The mod was easy to do. No problem. The manual Monte has is quite easy. Everyone can do such a mod.
Monte mails a color version and in the envelope is a copy of it in B&W.
I would rate a 10, but soldering is not for everybody as easy.

Sound Quality : 9
The sound has improved incredibly. Much more headroom and fidelity. Alse the rate has doubled. So, more versatile.
I use it in different combinations.

At the moment Cort guitars (G290) -> Monte SD-1 808 mod -> Monte H2O BD-2 mod -> Monte CE-2 mod -> Arion SAD-1 analog delay.

sounds great in every combination.
I rate this a 9, because I know my setup changes almost daily (GAS problems). But the monte mods are definitly keepers.

Reliability : 10
Just as good as the boss pedals. If you know how to solder no problems

Customer Support : 10
I have had some email contact with Monte. Very helpful and always responding.

as with all the other monte Mods I have::
BD-2 H2O, OD-3, SD1 808, MT2 sustaniac, DS-1 rectifier the CE-2 mod really improves the pedal. Better sounding, more musical.
I also have a Ibanez RC99 which is also very good. More leslie-like. I do not know which chorus stays on the pedalboard. But I definitly will not sell these pedals.
I have also owned the ibanez CS9 and the line6 mm4, but the CE-2 is better. Every time I try analog pedals, I am convinced the sound is better than digital.
I play in a coverband. Rock and blues are my music. I also like jazz (bigband music) and jazzrock (just listening). I play guitar for over 30 years and have owned a lot of equipment. But the analog pedals are the best. With mods like these even better.
