Ease of Use : 10
Easy three knob overdrive as youve always seen.

Sound Quality : 9
Mod improves the sound tenfold. Great bass and treble response, great sound overall. Does a very good Hendrix sound in my opinion, that thick overdrive borderline fuzz sound. Thats just how I set the pedal though. The drive knob can go from subtle transparent overdrive color to thick overdrive to full on fat distortion. Very versatile, and not a bad sound in it. It can occasionally get a touch harsh at some settings in my opinion, hence the 9 rating, but nothing is perfect, and with a minimal adjustment I can fix any of the harshness I hear.

Reliability : No Opinion
Boss pedals are extremely reliable. However this kit leaves it up to you. Do a good job with the modifications and everything should be as reliable as ever.

Customer Support : 10
Ive emailed monte twice, and have always recieved a very prompt response.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall this mod is great. For 25 bucks turn an average pedal into a phenomenal pedal. I say this pedal sounds as good if not better than some "boutique" pedals I have tried, and at half the price. If you have a stock sd-1, do yourself a favor and get this mod kit for it. If you dont have one, I would suggest considering it in the quest for a good overdrive.

Ease of Use : 10
Very easy to use. The added parts are a gain/presence switch and a clipping switch. Other than that it's classic SD-1 all the way

Sound Quality : 10
Wow, what a big difference. The original SD-1 suffered from excessive mids and its overdrive/distortion wasn't very satisfying. Well, this mod cures them all. The excessive mids have been replaced by well-balanced ones and the distortion is simply amazing. It covers the whole rock/hard rock spectrum. From AC/DC to Aerosmith to Led Zeppelin to Guns n roses to Green Day this pedal nails them all. The tone knob is much more responsive as well, allowing you to tailor the sound to your exact likings. Also the two switches make a huge difference. The gain switch makes the pedal meaner and the clipping one changes its attack from soft to hard. Amazing. Also it has a far better bass response - bass doesn't vanish when you turn it on as it used to be with the old one. As for booster to an already overdriven amp i cannot recommend it enough. It is like the perfect match to my Marshall JCM 800. No Ibanez, Maxon or anything else can beat this. A perfect 10!

Reliability : 10
If you do the mod carefully the pedal will last an eternity

I have been modding pedals for more than 5 years. This is the one and only SD-1 mod that has impressed me that much.
