The Ds-1 is an OK pedal. However, fit the Monte kit and it becomes a fantastic pedal. I don't think I've ever had a bad sound out of it!

Sound quality is pure, very boutique and much quieter than the original. The tri gain switch is subtle but does make a difference. I think the rectifier kit is more of a change, the tri gain is just the creme.

Boss won't let you down. The mods are simple and easy to do so unless you are a right bodger, reliability should be great! The quality of components is excellent.

Stunning - if you want the Satch sound or Steve Lukather or anybody who's good at the high gain distortion guitar,, go for this pedal. The DS1 is a classic but lacks a little in certain areas. This mods turns it into a great pedal.

Easy Breezy. Just follow directions. Also helps to have a nice clean, "sharp" tip on your soldering iron. I did this with a $7 Radioshack iron

Holy Monkey! This thing sounds fantastic. The switched in diode is super smooth, the LEDs have a great tube-ish sound -- it's the one I use most.
On a Standard Strat with DiMarzio Pickups through a Hot Rod Deluxe- you can get some really great classic tones.

Great--- however word of caution.
I mounted my switch and LEDs so that the LED would pop out the top and light up as you played, but I mounted it the wrong way- when I took the switch back out it broke-- probably my fault. I headed to Radio Shack and put in a new one and it's perfect.

I often switch between low-key acoustic stuff and bluesy stuff, but this makes me want to stick on the AC/DC songs for a while longer. Great tone. I've only had it a few days and haven't really REALLY tore into it- but it'll be a mainstay.
I definitely rank this right up there with my Analog Man TubeScreamer.
