Im using a Durango Guitar Works short scale Alder body mapel neck.Voodoo Amps 10watt jcm800 1x12 cab with Eminence Blue Tick Hound speaker.I set the amp up semi clean gain at noon. This gives me a great semi clean tone and the steping on the Modded mt-2 give a mix of marshall mesa style ditortion. Its really a great mix of classic rock and metal.

Ok this is my second Monte Allums modded pedal. The 1st one was the ds-1 recto that was awsome without the tri-gain mod.It didnt sound as good with the tr_gain add on and ive read this from others as well But so it is.Well with the mt-2 i decided not to go the tri-gain rout and im glad. This is the best distortion pedal i ever had.

It is easier to dial in eq than the stock version in my opinion.

Very good sound quality. Good smooth, harmonically rich distortion for miles and miles. A little drive goes a long way. I usually don't have the drive past 12 o'clock. When you dial the distortion back to around 9 o'clock you can great some convincing rock distortion as well. Very amp-like attack as far as picking goes. It feels like a slight tube sag responsiveness which some speed metal players might find cumbersome but most other rock/metal/blues players will appreciate. The nasty nasally fizz is removed which is really a huge plus. Superb Sustain.

It's all up to how well the mod is done. In the diode-lift position (on the switch) I have some electronic noise when dissonant chords ring out. I feel it is due to my soldering work, so I gotta go back in with the solder gun. Monte Allums recommends testing the pedal after every component change. I didn't do that. I just did 'em all at once then checked it.

Very good support. I have had questions about other mods and the owner was very helpful. Legit. Great to do business with.

I have been on a long quest to find the perfect pedal for my style. I have tried, Hardwire Distortion, Rocktron Metal Planet, Tube King, Twin Tube Mayhem, Saturator, Bad Monkey, Distortion Factory, and many others. When I tried the Metal Zone I was really turned off. I knew about the Monte Allums mods and found a great deal on a Metal Zone, so I gave the mod a shot. Really glad I did. It has a very good range of distortion. I needed a pedal that could straddle the Hard Rock/Metal territory. This pedal goes beyond that. I find that, due to the pedal's character, I am able to use it in heavy blues as well. It is the best "heavy" distortion pedals I've every owned. There are other pedals out there that are really kick ass but I can't afford $250+. This one is the bomb. Really, really, love ti.

This was the Sustainia Mod Plus kit. Like Monte's other Mods the instructions are pretty straight forward as long as you know a bit about soldering. The MT-2 pedal was OK before (I'm not into heavy metal, but bought the pedal on Ebay just for the Mod), but afterwards it is so much more versatile even for non-heavy metal players.

The pedal was OK before, but after the mods the sound was so much more crisp and the EQ way more versatile. With the 3 way switch you can get everything from overdrive to full out heavy metal distortion. You can tweak most any distortion you need out of it now. I mainly play a 78 Gibson LP Std and a custom 84 Strat through numerous pedals and several amps and PODs also. I basically replaced an Exotic AC+ with this pedal and a modded BD-2.

Like everyone says it's a Boss pedal and I've never had one fail. My soldering skills are fairly good so I can trust that.

I mainly play Christian music, but come from a rock and blues background. I have been playing over 32 years. I would definitely look to replace this pedal if something happened - with the mods. It gives a great sound and is very versatile with the mods.

This pedal was cool to start with but had a nasal sound. The mod cleared it up and it now actually sounds like a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier if you run it through a good tube amp. The 3 way switch really adds tons of options and the mods clear up the distortion so that it is cutting yet you hear the guitar. Great instructions to do the Mod.
It took about 3 hours to do with 2 people. Not hard at all.

I run it with a couple of Fender Tube Amps and various guitars from a Les Paul to a Godin loaded with Active EMG to a Strat. This is not a pedal for a Strat but it does sound good still. With the other guitars it smokes for metal.
