Ease of Use : 8
Couldn't be easier. Knobs are very sensitive, This is one of the Tel-Ray early 80's pedals. Morley provides a PDF of the manual on their site archives. Awesome 3 knob, 18 volt analog delay pedal. Great Ebay snag. I have the Morley Deluxe Distortion that matches it. Operates just like the old Ibanez AD-80 and AD-9's. I'll continue to feed it two 9volt batteries until I can find or modify an 18 volt DC adapter.

Sound Quality : 9
I am tempted to give it a ten because of how blown away I was with the whole analog bucket-brigade chip experience. But, I'll give it a 9 just because there may be an Echoplex or a Fulltone tube tape unit out there that deserves a 10. I'll never spend that kind of cash on an effect or take it to a club gig, so that's a fantasy! Honestly, this Morley is the best delay I have owned. Up to 330 milliseconds delay. Like the AD-80, the Morley MOD-AER uses a Panasonic MN3005 chip, a high voltage BBD chip that is long extinct - and highly sought after for the extra headroom it creates with the extra voltage. The extra voltage enables a more accurate, full-frequency reproduction of the input signal, and a more balanced powering of the circuit. The the only noise I noticed was a slight high-pitch tone and the longest delay setting, which I won't use. I've heard it can be tweaked out with the internal trim pots, but I haven't touched 'em. Really thickens up my tone and smoothes out the bite of the amp and pickups. An unexpected bonus was how it adds a slight signal boost when on.(better than sucking signal,IMO) Morleys are known for no signal-loading and keeping the tone pure. You can sometimes find these on Ebay as the "Echo 300" it's the same pedal. Grab one if you ever find it. NOW I understand the rich, organic thing they rave about with analog delays. Yes, it's better sounding than digital, but digital delays are crisper and versitle, and great for other music styles. Have both. Problem solved!

Reliability : 10
Absolutely dependable if you keep batteries on hand. The age of the unit is all the proof I need. I usually have backup guitars at gigs, but not effects. I'd hate to do without it, but life would go on....
I love this line of Morley effects. Read my review of the Deluxe Distortion.

Customer Support : 10
No support for something this old and out of production. Morley's site is helpful. Manual was available. No problems here. Most techs could repair it if needed.

Overall Rating : 9
I'm using this for Rockabilly/Psycobilly and classic rock with Bigsby'd hollow bodies and tube amps. I love it. If it were lost, I'd have to shell out big $ for another vintage analog pedal or expensive equivalent. The only things comparable are the Maxon/Ibanez
AD-80 or a DM-2, but I bet this Morley sounds better. The only thing better is a real tape echo or the Way Huge delay. The 18 voly, 2 battery thing is inconvenient, but part of the recipie of it's excellent tone. When my Danelectro Dan-echo started crapping out I picked up the Ibanez DE7, a great, flexible, tight sounding digital pedal. It works great for live gigs. A little AC hum in that one when playing notes, gated when not playing. Real useful, but I had to have an analog, and this MOD-AER plays nicely with my other Morleys. For slapback and doubling, I'm happy and impressed.
