The Morley distortion has two knobs (distortion and volume) and one switch (on/off), so you should expect it is easy to get a good sound of it.
Wrong!!!
As you can see in the other reactions the users complain about a thin sound, while I get a fat sound out of the same distortion.
The reason is that you have to tweak with the knobs. The volume knob is in fact not a volume knob but a kind of a drive knob like in the EHX Muff Overdrive. The both knobs (distortion and volume) are in interaction witch each other, like withe the EHX Double Muff.
So if you have the volume knob too low, than you have indeed a very thin sound.
To get a fat distortion out of this pedal you have to turn up the volume knob. I have a very fat sound out of this pedal.

When you know how this pedal works, you can get great sounds out of it. mostly I use it in combination with the EHX LPB-1 boost pedal and this combination sounds great.
The sounds comes near a Marshall tube sounds. It sounds less fat than a Marshall but it has more treble, so you have a transparent sound.
In combination with a EHX Double Muff it sounds great as well.
And a really awesome sound you get when you use this pedal in combination with the drive channel of a tube amp, like I do. I use it in combination with a Marshall drive sound and it is great for solos.

It is build like a tank and almost cannot be damaged. I own this pedal since 1986 and the only thing is that the sticker under the pedal can be read anymore and inside a female jack plug broke. Beside replacing the jack plug, the pedal itself has never been broken all this time.

I have never dealt with the company because the pedal can not be damaged.
On the website of Morley I was able to find the manual, what is great because the pedal is out of production for a long time. That is what I call service.

It's a very simple apparatus, they don't come much easier.

I use a telecaster, a stratocaster and a Gibson L6-S, for amplification I use a Twin Reverb or a Peavy Bandit. It does all distortion sounds good, from light to fuzzy. Watch out for feedback though.

Very reliable, it will outlive the cockroaches and scorpions. Trustworthy.

I play everything between John Lee Hooker and Monstermagnet. For heavy blues this machine is very useful. I like the chainsaw sound, but it kind of blocks out the natural sound of my guitars. Nice screams are quite easy to produce though. Not clean or perfect, but very masculine.

well its a bit noisy, but its a distortion pedal. makes sense. overall the fuzz sounds I thought was a little thin and really kinda sucked. it uses the standard cheap op-amp, diode clipping circuit, and the board was printed upside down, so all the components are on the solder side of the board. overall, just a early try at distortion by morley, and I'd say its probably best that they gave up. Its a 3 because it does distort, just not to my liking

the case is great. cast and heavy. switch died after all those years, or at least before I got it. other than that solid.

never tired to talk with morley, but they probably wouldn't know about this old box.

Well, overall its a nice solid box that I used to put another distortion ciruit into. its got pleny of space inside and holes already. The original circuit just wasn't that great. I was much more pleased with my new circuit. (its a remake of the Fuzz Face)

Absolutely huge. One of the biggest fuzz units i've ever heard.

Seems to be built very well. It is probably the heaviest casing i've ever seen on a distortion pedal

You can find these for very decent prices, and i strongly recommend finding one if you like very thick, fuzzy distortion.
