It takes a little messing with to get the whole "picture" of what this pedal is capable of, but it is worth the time.

For the short time I used it before the bulb burned out (probably the original bulb from 1976!) I was impressed with the sweetness and purity of the phase it produces, I don't remember hearing any noticeable noise either. I found this unit in a record store/music instrument store in Phoenix AZ. after mentioning to the sales guy that I was jonesing for
an old and cool phaser. He then hesitantly told me about this old Morley pedal that was hidden behind the counter being saved for a trade show. Fortunately for me he was willing to let it go for a mere $100!
It was what I was hoping for; not only a great looking solid built unit; but one that sounds better than most of the units I had tried previously. I would say it is close in quality to the famed Ross phaser-just different sounding.

Haven't spent enough time with it yet, but it IS a vintage pedal!

I dig their website and all the resources they offer, they seem like they love what they do. I haven't called them as I found what I needed (new bulbs) right from a link on their site!

I play a variety of styles and this thing sounds so good I would try to use it whenever I can! I have been playing guitar for 31 years, bass for 21 years. I build ultra high-end tube guitar amps which I of course use and play a franken-strat with an old 1 piece swamp ash Boogie body (pre-Charvel) and a Warmoth rosewood neck with ebony fingerboard; Tom Anderson H2 bridge humbucker and two almost vintage stacked bugundy Duncan single coils that are quiter than most humbuckers! I use 2 of Evidence audio's Lyric HG instrument cables as well (a little pricy but well worth it IMHO) I also play an old Ibanez Roadstar 2 converted to Hum single Hum (excellent clean tone!)
If it were lost I would frantically try to find an exact replacement.
I love the purity of the phaser sweeps and the lack of noise. I hate the fact it isn't made anymore. My favorite feature is the phaser-the reason I bought it in the first place, the volume is a nice bonus! Sounds like this help me to be more creative in my songwriting, quite expensive sounding. I am so glad I found this big chrome pedal and can't wait until my replacement bulbs arrive from EBAY! I might even consider building (legal) clones in the future!

Very easy to get a good sound out of it. Very smooth, lush phase sound, and the Center, Harmonic emphasis and phase travel controls mean you have much more tweakability than most other phasers. You can get a really deep pitch-bending type high-resonance phase or a subtle, barely noticable textured chorusy sound. This is a 70s analog pedal, no patches, no presets. The manual is available online but you really just need to play it and play with it in order to figure it out. It is easy to hear the differences a turn of the knobs makes. This unit when purchased had a common problem with these pedals, the light shield tolex piece came un-glued. I taped it back down and it works as normal. The pedal uses an optical reader and if the shield is unattached it works in the opposite manner when the pedal is used.

I just have a single-coil 60s Fender Musicmaster with blade pickups in it directly into the PFV and then into a solid state amp. There was no noticeable noise on this pedal. The un-activated volume pedal setting is useful. The sound is very silky, great phaser sound! If you like phasers you'll love this pedal. It is more versatile than all other phasers out there. The pedal may be switched between controlling phase speed, to controlling the actual sweep. I plan on using this pedal for recording.

This pedal was shipped to me from out of the country in a box with no packing material. It is still working perfectly. It is in a chrome metal case! how much more bulletproof can it get? There is a lightbulb in the pedal that is what causes the phase sweep, and if it burns out, the pedal stops working. Therefore, I have to give it an 8. But you could use it without backup, just bring extra bulbs, available from Morley, or possibly Radio Shack. I have never had a bulb burn out on any of my old Tel-ray Morley pedals.

I have called Morley on a couple of occasions. Whenever they can help, they do. Morley no longer sells the Tel-ray pedals although their design is similar. Their pedals don't require a pot that can get dirty or scratchy like the crybaby pedals. But they have a customer service number, and they do answer or get back with you on the phone. If they don't have the info you need they will direct you to someone who does. If it is a simple fixit problem they will even take you through the fix over the phone. They are enthusiastic about their product. If there was an 11 they'd get one in this category.

I play alt-indie rock and jazz rock. This pedal can be used in the studio or on a pedal setup. Very versatile analog sounds. I have been playing for a while. If lost, I might look for another one. These kinds of pedals are fun but not really essential. They're like ear candy. Icing on the cake. There are a few phasers that compare to this pedal like the MXR phase 100 or the phase 90. There is a lesser known phaser called an Infinitphase which isn't made any more and it is the most tweakable phaser available. This pedal isn't as versatile as an infinitphase but more versatile, with its controlling pedal ability, is already a cut above all other phasers in my opinion.

My pedal is the Morley PFV-14.
Very easy to get a great sound! The manual is a two pager that you can get from the morley pedals website - it's OK, may have been useful
to have some sample settings.
It explains in basic detail how the phaser works.

My setup is Fender Jaguar 1967,Lovetone (Cheese Source), Morley PFV, Moog Ring Modulator, VOX Wah -> Marshall AVT275
No noise at all. Phaser has manual or automatic settings. In manual you control the phase in real time. In auto, a LFO sweeps the phase.
Personally I like the auto mode, you can set the sweep to be really slow and get that 70's swoosh. You get two LEDS, the front red LED flickers to give an indication of the speed of the phase in auto.
You have three chicken-head knobs on the side which control the
phase depth, center, and harmonic emphasis. I guess the harmonic
emphasis controls feedback.
I love this pedal - the sound is great!

I'm into US Garage punk, UK Freakbeat - 60's psychedlia etc.
It goes hand in hand with the music I play.
Been playing 7 years.
If the pedal was stolen I'd buy it again - if I could (these are pretty hard to come by in good or mint condition)
Wish I could hold of the Morley AutoPanner or EVO-1

An expressin pedal with two pedal switch (chose the phaser or the volume function), a hand switch for the On/off and three pot for 'Phase Travel', 'Center' and 'Harmonic Hemphasis'.
Not so easy to learn, but quite intuitive.
Just a litlle bit too 'big'.

Really good phaser sound, and really customizable with his experssion pedal and the three pot. No noise at all. I use it with a Fender Richie Sambora Standard Strat Signature and a Fender Hot Rod De Ville 4x10. Really versatile phaser sound, u can do anything u want.
The volume is really neutral... a really good built unit: useful and strong.

Not an essential pedal (as all the phaser pedal) but probably the most useful phaser pedal around (also if too 'big' and 'heavy')
