A good thing going for it is that you can turn it on without having to always be in the toe-down position. It might take some getting used to, but I like the side button over the push the wah all the way down real hard technique.

10 I use a les paul vintage mahogany or an sg special through a peavey valveking 112. The morley is awesome and totally unique. The pedal has a ridiculously wide sweep so that you can modify what type of wah sound you want by not utilizing the full sweep. Also it is very clear and not noisy. I still like crybabies, but this does not ruin your tone.

DO NOT use the wrong power supply like I did. I had to resolder a new operational amplifier. So it really is higher than an "8" I just thought I'd defuse some of my stupidity. Really though, it is built extremely durable.

I play hard rock; this wah is great! At least for the price you can't go wrong, and I prefer it over my crybaby easily. Putting the wah level at 12 o'clock or slightly above suits me fine. It is not a perfect creation but it's the best wah I have encountered. If I ever lost it, I would probably get a mark tremonti wah. I know that Morley makes awesome stuff, and the Mark I sounds good on their website. It probably is better than this wah, while being a bit siimlar too.

This is a follow up review from my last review of this on 12/04/2001. It is much easier to get a good sound out of this than a Crybaby or something crappy like that, but as I stated in my last review you have to find the right "sweet spot" and rock the pedal around that instead of just going full forward and back. I really love the switch not being under the pedal. It just makes much more sense. That way you can turn it on in mid sweep and you don't instantly get this nasaly "what the hell" tone when it is turn on. The volume control is nice and it is easily controllable with your foot.

They need to quit asking that same question in this category "can you get the sound of your favorite artists?" I mean come on I am no copycat, and if YOU want to be this isn't the wah for you. But if you like great, unique, interesting tone it is the best wah there is. I love funk music, and what I play I like to call Funk Metal. You can get pretty close to the sound of a Q-tron + with this thing if you mute the notes just right and rock the pedal just right. You can make wah and other sounds that other wah pedals just dream of. I would like to get another Q-tron to keep (instead of selling on eBay like I do all the time) or maybe a DOD envelope filter to play along with it. Who knows what you could create with two filters going at once- especially ones as interesting as these. One thing that I think rocks is if you reverse the sweep. Rock the pedal down when you strike the note instead of up I guess that would be a AHW LOL. Just makes a very interesting sound. For the uniqueness of it, it deserves a 10. You can also aproximate a VOX sound with it, if you are careful with the pedal. It just takes some time to figure it out that's why It only got an 8 in the ease of use category, but for the sound category it deserves a 10 for sure.

Well it is a pedal that I have had for many years. I don't gig, but I have been stepping on this thing since at least the year 2000 I can't complain. There is no pot to get scratchy so that helps. The crybaby that I had that sucked, didn't exactly work all the time when I bought it brand new. That and the crappy tone is why I traded it for this one. Thank GOD the crybaby worked for those few minutes that I was doing the exchange. NEVER any problems at all with this one though. Oh, and you never have to worry about it doubling as a radio to-crybaby owners will know what I mean.

I don't understand how anyone can give them any less than 10. They give you FREE PARTS PEOPLE, just try not to take advantage of them, only ask for what you need. On top of this they answer emails promptly and everything much better than the other guys. Bill Wenzloff is the man he has been with the company since the early 80's. One time I emailed him to ask him a couple of general history questions and he gave a prompt reply within hours. See, my PWA has red Morley lettering, while others seem to have white, I just had to ask him what was up with that. The way he explained it is that the older (pre '95 I think) PWA's have the red, and the newer, but recently discontinued ones have white. He said that the tone should be similar, but I noticed that he didn't say the same. I would be interested to try out a white one just to see if there is a difference.
Another time I e-mailed them to ask how to modify the sweep on this pedal. There is a way to do it, and I suggest that you e-mail them for it to get it right.

This deserves no less than a 10. This wah could almost be used as an instrument in and of itself. The other products that I considered (or have owned) that are similar include the Dunlop Crybaby that I traded for it straight up-couldn't have got a better deal, I basically stole the MORLEY- and a Q-tron that is nice, but not as diverse, and I couldn't resist selling for $140 for the pocket change that I bought it for. I would also like to try out a DOD Fx-15 wah volume I hear that they are extremely unique also. This wah is right up there with the rest of them if not far above. Morley's current lineup is just as good I am sure. I don't think that it would be possible for them to make bad pedals. Now if only I could get them to bring back the ACV so I don't have to spend $200 on eBay for one. Oh, and by the way, these wahs are only like $20-$30 on eBay and a much much MUCH better deal than a Dunlop Crybaby that goes for about the same price. Fantastic Value for sure

Mine is '92 model, made in the USA.
Just a wha... This one is easier than many, because it is heavy, very large adn has a separate on/off switch. The 'level' button adjusts the volume when the wha is on, a vey good tool

This pedal is very very sensitive to the hardware. The circuitry doesn't use any inductance (no red or white fasel or anything...), just resitors and capacitors and an integrated circuit. Indeed, I think it acts as a "oha" pedal, rather than a "wha". It lack bass response, while the high end is very strong.
But this also give it a strong personality. After a few testings, and depending on your hardware (single coils or humbuckers ? neck or bridge ?) you can get a sound - or not. I played it on a marshall MG15DFX (transistors, integrated effects, I like it a lot for jaming alone) and a peavey classic 50-410, full tubes 4x10" speakers. Using the same guitar and no extra hardware this pedal always sounds good on the peavey and "not so good" on the marshall, due to its bass lack. I guess this is because the marshall itself lacks bass response during the 'w' phase of the 'wha' cycle.
Finaly PWA "pro" series means "pro" sound on "pro" hardware with a "pro" player ? There I would agree !! :o)
Anyway, regarding the sound when played on a good amp using the right guitar (humbuckers for riff of singles for funky) it sounds so good. This is why I give it a 10, the overall sound is creative an unique - any "pro" should like that. You will never get that sound from a Dunlop or a Vox, excepted maybe the 535Q.

Don't know.
Morley shows the circuitry online, this seems incredible so I guess they are very open minded. Doesn't bring anything to us guitar players, excepted maybe the feeling that they believe in their products.

I have said so good things that I can't tell more. Here below is a link (in french - sorry but I'm french) which explains 2 mods - (please Harmony Central moderator keep this link active, it's a good value for PWA owners). The first mod is used to reduce the pedal range (in order to lower that high end response, and also adapt it to a bass guitar).
The second mod is intended to change the overall frequency response, in order to get a "fat" wha sound. It use an optional switch on the pedal, to choose between "fat" and "standard".
I DID NOT YET TRY ANY OF THOSE MODS - but I will.
Finally I give it a 10 beacause I like its look, the way it sings and also - overall - the sound I get with the right hardware and the right playing.

Plug in, Adjust level, and you're off. Not too hard to get used to the button wah switch, as opposed to my old Crybaby, where you would have to stomp the crap out of it to get it on.

I play a '96 american strat to an Ibanez tube screamer, P.O.S rocktek delay unit, Boss Bf-2, and a 120 watt crate amp. The Pedal fit right in my set-up, and off the bat sounded great. I initially went in to the guitar shop to pick up a crybaby, and tested a few, i liked the sound of them, but i was looking for a crisper, cleaner, wah sound, and the tech brought out some morleys. I wouldnt really use this pedal to reproduce the sounds of jimi, or srv, but it can do things most wahs cant. I like to play a lot of 311, dispatch, grateful dead, phish, and this pedal nails their sounds.

I CAN NOT STRESS HOW AMAZING THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS WITH MORLEY! I emailed a guy named Bill Wenzloff (info@morleypedals.com), asking for a part that had been missing on my pedal, and he replyed within a day, telling me he will be mailing it to me, free of charge. YOU CAN NOT BEAT THAT!

It was great on clean sounds when I first got it, but as many here say, the effect disappeared with high gain. I have one of the highest gained pedals on the market (Boss MT-2 Metal Zone), and I can still get a GREAT distorted wah out of it. It's all in the EQ. My setup is Epi SG---> Wah---> Boss MT-2 Distortion---> Boss CE-2 Chorus---> Boss DS-1 Distortion---> Fender Stage 112SE. The only reason I give it a 9 instead of a 10 is b/c I had to mod the pedal to get the sweep I wanted.

Awesome... This thing is made like a tank. Boss and Morley are the toughest pedals I have ever seen. That's why my entire setup is Boss/Morley. I don't have backup gear so I have to have the most reliable.

ok here's the thing, and it goes for ALL morley pedals. No matter what you get from morley (wah pedals), you can always send it to their tech to have them adjust it to ANY sound you wish it to have at NO cost other than the shipping. Their customer service is THAT good. I have a NSW and a few others. ALL are adjusted to EXACTLY how i want it. That is plain AWESOME. For this reason alone, no one should criticize morley's tone. If you just take some trouble to send it up or have them teach you how to adjust it, a morley wah can do anything you ask it.

I wanna get a phaser or flanger but this set up can take anything. ANYTHING! the wah suits me well (again see 'sound quality)

I'm using it with a a Jackson Dx10D with stock pickups into a Crate solidstate amplifier. It is noisy in wide open position. It's a bit weak pedal, but it's a part of my sound and sounds perfect to me.
I've heard alot of guitar folk who hate the pedal and I'm not suprised because it has alot of teble and a small mid sweep sweet spot, but if you're like me and want cut from their tone, mettalic sounds, bulletproof consruction, and a dandy price to boot, then I think this baby's for you.

I play Crude Speed Rock (live hard rock performance inspired by thrash that comes off oddly as punk). The pedal compliments my sound because I have a rather bright tone and love metllic overtones, which the pedal gives me. It's ease of use is a plus, it gives me peace of mind and allows to focus on making music.
I've been playing for 11 years and've had the pedal probably no less than eight. If something bad happened to it, I probably buy the same pedal. I use it for a few of my older tunes and when I require a lead boost.
My fave feature is it's sound. I chose this pedal way back because I didn't know anything about pedals and just liked Morley's logo and bought it on a whim (glad I did). It helps me get a signal enhancement when I do leads sometimes which is what I seem to use it more for these days.
IF you're looking for a wah wah pedal with max treble, ease of use ,ruggedness, and just modern wah tone period (without trying to find tone of the gods), try it in a store, then possibly see if you can gig it then make a judgement call.
