Unique, amazing and breathtaking!!! This is by far the best phaser I've ever put my hands (and foot!) on!!! I also have the Mu-Tron Bi-Phase, but believe me, this is way better in terms of tone and "liquid" factor!!! The phasing in fact is so watery, warm, magic and psychedelic that you really are pulled in another dimension when you turn this baby on!!!
The "center" knob (along with the usual depth and resonance knobs) allows you to have a total control on the phaser sweep structure and color, and is the key to a virtually endless disposal of possibilties!!! You can get chorus phasing, flanger phasing, vibrato phasing, all kind of swirling throbbing caressing pulsating wobbling psychedelic tones!
Of course it has its issues, like the hiss/noise, and some bizarre behaviours of the sweep sometimes (at very slow settings the sweep gets pretty irregular), plus these are old beasts, and even if built with the highest quality, age starts affecting them in some ways.
But it's just the usual thing when you deal with vintage equipment...if you want TONE, you have to cope with some issues.
And when you hear the tone of this thing, believe me, you really won't hear anything else!!!

These pedals are a piece of art even on the construction side. They were just built to last!!!
Standard maintenance could be required due to age and to the complexity (if you open the pedal and take a look at what it has inside, you know what I'm taking about...this is not the usual phaser stombox!!!).
Some units may have some problems, but nothing that cannot be fixed by a tech, and sometimes even by yourself (most of the times problems are caused by the bulb, and bulbs are still available for a few bucks).

These Tel-Ray era Morleys are of course out of production since more than 20 years, but Morley still deal with help and assistance if you contact them!
They even have the schematics for download!!!
Of course if you want very detailed technical infos, they cannot deliver the impossible, but nevertheless they are incredibly supportive and helpful where they can!

This has become my favourite phaser in the moment I first time plugged in the amp!!! In a few seconds it blew away all my favourite phasers: my vintage EH Small Stone & Bad-Stone and the Bi-Phase!!!
That watery tone quality and the infinite possibilities it has, just make it a priceless machine!!!
Talkin about about price, it's not yet gone sky-high like most old phasers (take the Ibanez Flying Pan...I've seen it over the 1000 dollars lately...people who buy that at that price are just INSANE!!!).
If you're lucky you can still find these Tel-Ray Morleys in the 150-250 dollars range, which for a phaser of this quality is just nothing!!!
Actually, if I should find another one, I'll buy it in a second because if something should happen to mine I would be lost!!!

This 70's phaser stands above all others! Really, the thing's about a foot tall and chromed out to boot, like the other morley pro and pfa pedals from the era. Ease of use? With them knobs on the side and a manual phase sweep option, you'd better be able to get a good sound out of it...firmware revision number: 1857309.103

It's a beast that slathers on the phase like an good old fashioned pap smear. I'm playing through a roland jc-120 combo and 412 cab and some homemade fuzz-ala Aaron Nelson-and this pedal just kills all. With the "hornet"(a fuzzface/big muff hybrid) in front of the MORLEY PRO PHASE you can squeeze out about 4 distinctly different fuzz tones the range from piercing earbleed to the fat assed growl of a 1971 dodge demon. I give it a 9 cause the noise-but it isn't distractive.

I get it on with the heavy rock-classic, metal, progressive, n such. Also like ambient sounds n jazz guitar swells. If somebody took this one from me I modified it with a small sub unit that houses a few of my farts so it can be triggered via remote switch to release my fury upon their thieving souls. Yeah I'd get another.

This is so easy to use, I don't know what the other guy was talking about. Maybe the light shield inside his unit is loose. Sometimes that happens in the Morley pedals but mine is easy and sounds great. The three knobs on the left adjust the center of the sweep, the depth, and the harmonic resonance. This is a very smooth phaser and hangs easily with other 70's vintage analog phasers such as the Phase 90, 100, and Ibanez PT-9. Those are nice phasers but this one is better because it has a few more tricks. If you want a certain speed set the pedal at a level and it will stay there, if you tighten the side screws enough for the friction to hold the pedal still. And, if you use the sweep control on the pedal it can get close to a Wah effect, although there is a slight delay, and this effect can also give you a phase sound in real time with the pulse of the music, or your foot. Any braindead guitarist can figure this out. Very intuitive.

I have tried this out having just purchased it yesterday, but the other Morleys I've had, Power wah, and Power wah boost(an excellent pedal) are all similar in the moving parts category. Their wahs have lots of clarity and more range than any other wah pedal. This phaser has excellent sound quality, great range, and is adjustable. The pedal stands alone and someone will soon figure this out and the price of these will go through the roof!

Bulletproof. Morley chrome Tel-ray pedals are the best quality of that era, bar none. Of course I would use it without a backup. I don't think it would be easy to find a backup anyway. It might be interesting to try using 2 at a time, though(you'd have to sit down).

I called them and asked them about the sweep of another wah pedal I had. They told me over the phone how to fix it, by opening the bottom and re-attaching the light shield. It was easy to do. They have online downloads of manuals of their old, Tel-Ray manufactured pedals(long stopped being made by Tel-Ray). They are at the top of my list in customer satisfaction. Presently they are a testament to the longevity of the Morley effects company.

This is a great pedal, not so easy to use. It takes some getting use to and a steady foot for control. I bought one of these when my Maestro got ripped off. It's an original that was new when purchased.

Sound of phase is great with the exception of a little noise. The effects of the pedal itself is of very strong quality and presence. I've used this with several different amps including Yamaha G-100 w/2x10's, Peavey Renown w/2x12's and an Acoustic 150 w/6x10's. The type of phase sounds are unlimited.

I play Contemporary Christian with a jazz/rock feel. I've been playing for thirty-six years and this pedal will work with any form of music actually. I use a Line 6 MM4 Modulation unit now for my phasing and other modulation effects for conveniance. I use a Boss DD5 for delay and use a Cry Baby wah that sucks, and other effects that I dont use much now. I have distortion units but I use my natural amp distortion for best results.

This is the morley volume phaser which is the same as the pro phaser. made for morley by Tel-Ray, this pedal is like a cross between a wah and a phaser, you can use it like a normal phaser and change the speed of the lfo or you can disengage the lfo and sweep the phaser like a wah. i've been looking for something that did this for a long time and i don't know why more manufacturers don't do this. you can also use it as a volume pedal but that doesn't interest me too much. there are a lot of different sounds to be had from this pedal because you can change the part of the frequency spectrum where the phasing effect occurs with the center knob, the depth of the phasing sweep with the phase travel knob, and the regeneration/feedback with the harmonic emphasis knob. some of the sounds are quite extreme, you can get ufo noises and very deep slow phases similar to an MXR phase 100 but deeper, and sounds closer to a small stone. it's a really versatile phaser.it can be a bit tricky getting an even round phase sweep out of it due to the many options and the sweeps can seem a bit lop-sided in some situations - like the phase will come up fast, then stay up for a bit then come back down fast and stay down for a bit. the only thing that i have tried that does as much is the Lovetone Doppelganger which sounds more like a univibe and is not as thick sounding as this can be. i'm not too happy about the way the foot pedal will suddenly take the speed from slow to fast, there is a point where it's very difficult to get a medium sort of speed before it suddenly gets much faster. this is because of the optical circuitry, where the photoelectric cells suddenly get a blast of light. i think i might try to modify this aspect by sticking a small piece of dark cloth accross the "curtain" to let only some light through so the change is not so sudden on the speed/sweep.

i'm using this with a mesa DC5 and a load of other effects. i collect phasers and this is one of the best that i've found but i don't think it's the holy grail yet. it does have a fair bit of phaser hiss going on but they all do that a bit and it doesn't bother me any. i think the sound of this is very smooth and lush and if you ever see one you should buy it. if you're into phasers you won't be disappointed and these are hard to find.

i had to replace a footswitch but for a pedal that must be 20+ years old that's no big deal. this thing is built like a piece of medical equipment, it looks a bit like one of those chrome toasters and you could probably drive a double decker bus over it without the insides getting damaged. i don't think build quality goes much higher than this, this thing is built.

It's kind of hard because the possibilities are infinite with this thing. I spent awhile in 'FOOT' mode trying to figure out what the 'CENTER' control does(nothing that I could hear). It does change the sound in 'AUTO' mode though. No manual. But I do have an old Morley brouchere from circa 1978 which has paragraphs explaining all of their pedals so that helped a little.

Guitars w/humbuckers, Marshalls. It's somewhat noisy. It has a low hum when you engage it, from the internal power tranformer I'm guessing. But man this is a cool ass unit! Phaser is my favorite effect & I've been longing for one of these since a friend loaned me one for a week when I was 16 (20 years ago!) So I finally got it. It's the ultimate phaser. It'll even sound like a wah sometimes & also can do the whackiest, most freaked out sounds you can imagine! Just the unit itself without an instrument plugged in makes cool UFO sounds. I can't say enough about the sound of it. I'll take a point off 'cause of the hum.

I play Pop/Rock. I don't know if I'll use it much in my band, I just like playing through it at home. I've been playing 22 years. I've got a re-issue MXR Phase 90, Pearl Phaser & a Boss PH-1r(sucks horribly). I'll tell you what I dislike about it is the low hum & I wish it had a wall wart because I don't hate wallwarts like most people seem to. What I really like is the versatility of real time control & just the cool sounds! I have to be honest, I can't give it a 10 because of the hum, so it isn't perfect. Other than that, it's really great.

It take some time to get used to, particularly if you want an even phase sound -- the center of the signal can expand but it still requires a steady foot -- definetely a learning curve, but is to be expected considering how dynamic this pedal is. It is, however, steady, some having found your sound, your good.

Forget about it. My pedal is in mint condition. Watching that red light slowly flicker up is all I need to get me going. Phaser is a tricky effect, you don't want to overuse it, but this pedal definetely pulls you back. It can also sound a little like voice box, late 70's style, which doesn't much interest me.

Morley's website is endearingly amatuerish, rivaled only by E-bow's. But this is the looseness that's makes them so attractive. They do promptly respond to e-mails. And this pedal shall never break.

All pedals should work like a wah, where you control the sound with your foot. During the course of any song that's dynamic, you need to be able to shift the rate or travel as the song changes. I've already got my eye's open for similar Morley's: the Echo, the Flanger. As I have never seen any other company respond to the need to control your sound in the moment, I'd say they remain unrivaled.

The sounds are amazing. It is the most versitile phaser I have ever tried. It literally can can get a vocal wha effect, vibrato, raging resonant sweeps. The setting even though seemingly sparse are deceivingly complicated. But generally nothing in life worth having is easy.
If you take it off of auto you can do the sweeps yourself (there is a slight delay ) My favorite thing to do is leave the auto off and take the hollow tone in the middle of a phase. I would definately buy one or five again, but I can not find any of them. Some cons are noisey (most phasers are), rare, gain is a little louder than most pedals, the volume is selected automatically when you turn the pedal off, so if your tripping that you are getting no juice its probobly because your volume pedal is where you left it in the phase mode, duhhh.

I've used this with guitars, synths, vocals, through amps(tube) and aux sends. One of the best phasers I've heard...very versatile. Whereas most other phasers excel at a certain sound, this one covers just about all of them. An older piece, so it's a bit noisy, but not so much that it's a concern.

This piece has been used for indie rock, experimental, trip-hop and ambient music that I've produced over the years. I would buy this again, if I could find one! The best feature is the wah-like foot pedal which controls either the phasor speed or modulation(just like a wah, but with phasing instead). Possibly the only superior phaser is the ADA phaser...I'd tried most of the rest, and they just don't compare.
