This unit is a great sounding wah/volume pedal. There isn't much to it, it's very simple to use.

Sound Quality : 10
I've owned this pedal for 25 years and have used it with humbucker and single coil equipped guitars, in front of Peavey, Roland, & Dean Markley amps as well as my rack rig which over the years has consisted of Mesa Boogie, Marshall, and Hafler preamps and power amps. It's a great sounding wah/volume pedal.
The wah has a wide sweep. I usually try to avoid the top of the pedal travel because it gets shrill. This pedal is from before the days when wah pedals had adjustable sweeps and Q controls.
Because it's a photoelectrically operated pedal, there's a point in the middle of the pedal's travel where the change in sound or volume is rather abrupt. That's because of the barrier between the little light and the photosensitive surface being moved away. A pot operated pedal would probably give a more even sweep, but with less reliability.
There's not as great of an apparent volume drop when you go to the bottom of the pedal travel when using it as a wah as there is with some wah pedals.
The pedal also has an adjustment on the side that can give you upn to 6db clean boost! So apparently it has an active buffer preamp circuit in it. Very cool!
The pedal is very quiet and doesn't suck the guitar's tone. There's no hiss when using the pedal, and the guitar still sounds clear and full when the pedal is off.

Reliability : 10
I can always depend on this pedal. For 26 years and countless rehearsals and gigs, it has worked perfectly.

Never dealt with them when they were around. They're gone now.

Overall Rating : 10
If this pedal ever died, I'd obviously get something else. They don't make these anymore. Some of the newer wah pedals have cool new features I'd wanna check out anyway.
This pedal sounds very good and will last a lifetime. That's what I like about it.
I've been playing since around 1977, and I got this pedal in 1980 when I was a sophomore in high school. I had only gotten my first electric guitar a year before that. I compared it to one of the chrome Morley wahs, but decided on the Mutron because I thought it sounded better. It was the cream of the crop in wah pedals in 1980. There've been a lot of advances in technology since then, but this remains a great sounding, dependable pedal.

I'm currently using this with my Roland XP-10 to add wah to my clavinet and harpsichord combos. I have yet to find a wah that sounds like this one! Nice long enevelope and excellant decay on the volume.

Reliability : 10
110% reliability. These units were made to handle the abuse from heavy use and travel.

So sad they're gone.

I play jazz funk fusion. I have also played many other styles as well.I have many old vintage synthesizers, effects. I also have a few newer synths as well. Basses, guitars, actually a whole studio. I have owned just about every wah you can think of that has been made in the last 30 years or so, and I can't find any that compare to this unit. If you run across one PICK IT UP!!! They're becoming quite rare these days. As a matter of fact, anything from Mu-tron, pick it up! In another 20 years you might be able to pay your kids college off! ;)

2 footswitches and a pedal...pretty easy.

Sound Quality : 10
This is the BEST wah I have ever used. The volume pedal is fun (when you get one, you'll understand, those swells are neat!) and the wah is LONG...much longer than any other wah. The combination of the 2 is what is so great... Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth is someone I look up to, and he used this pedal until their gear got stolen. Great for getting Daydream Nation and Washing Machine tones!

Reliability : 10
Solid.

This is a great pedal. Best wah and the option of combining it with a volume swell is fanstastic! Unfortunatly I have to sell this pedal, so if you are interested, email me. School comes first, and I don't need a wah more than my degree. hangwire@angelfire.com
