Very straightforward and easy to use. I like that the slow and fast speed trimmers as recessed and not an on-the-fly sort of adjustment....this just makes it that much easier to deal with if you ask me.

The only thing not easy about it is the spacing of the foot switches. You can't just pound on it like an MXR because the three foot switches on the top are spaced a bit close together. The upside of this is that it keeps the footprint small, but I have to be careful when I'm engaging/disengaging any thing on it. Small potatoes in the scope of things though.

Because the DR Single is a rotating speaker simulator and not a Univibe clone, the effect is bit more subtle (just add a phaser on it for some really gooey undulations) but has a ton of personality. There really is an illusion of movement in this sound, which is not easy to achieve in a pedal. And I love the ramp up/ramp down tones when changing speeds. At stage volumes through a higher wattage amp the effect is really satisfying.

The built-in overdrive is merely OK in my opinion...in fact, I'd rather have that part taken off completely to provide a little more room between the on/of and ramp up/down switches. It's a convenient feature to have and really makes for a complete rotating sim package, but I'm not sure the DR Single really needs it. I don't use it.

Reliability : 10
One of the most well-built pedals I think I've ever seen. Seriously. It's not just rugged and weighty, but everything feels incredibly well built.

Jay, the builder, answered every email question I had about the pedal in a very timely manner, and was extremely helpful. He kept me apprised of delivery times and entertained all my goofy question. Good guy, quality product.

Overall Rating : 10
I play it all. I have a Strat, Telecaster, an ES335 and an old Italian no-name funky hollowbody that is fun to get weird on. A Dr. Z Carmen Ghia, Fender Deluxe Reverb and Vox AC15 round out the pack and I've got a ton of pedals. I've been playing almost 25 years.

I bought the DR Single to capture those Leslie-fied tones on classics like Abbey Road. It nails it. I didn't directly compare it to anything else really, I just searched through the Interwebs and here on Harmony Central to see what was out there that could cop that kind of swirl in a pedal. A very favorable Guitar Player review sealed the deal.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a spinning speaker sound in a convenient, well-built pedal. Shut up and buy one already.

The Option 5 Destination Rotation Single. A long name but still very cool. Many friends and forums pointed me in the direction of trying this pedal. I was not disappointed. You can tell right away that it is supposed to sound like a Leslie. It comes with all the trimmers (that are neatly on top, instead of inside under a plate!) set to a fairly good Leslie simulation. So, right out of the box you can be noodling, very well, some SRV or classic Abbey Road stuff. I was quite taken by it and the honeymoon period never wore off. Kudos! The manual is not really necessary if you know what a Leslie really does but it can be useful, although the writing inside is kind of small. Everything is explained clearly and not at all confusing or condecending. The trimmers on top are cool but I can see how some people might have a hard time twisting them (the best method is explained in the manual) for this, I will deduct 1 point.

Wow! Not bad at all. I know you can never get that Leslie out in the open air sound with any box... let's be realistic. That said, this thing really nails the recorded sound of one. Mind you, I am not talking about the 145 sound because it has 2 speakers that are always churning at different speeds. This thing sounds so close to a Leslie 16 or 120 (single speaker Leslies) that my ears could hardly tell the difference. The overdrive in it is very cool too. You will notice that grind as the "speaker" whips around at you with that overdrive on. I did find that the overdrive effect works best when you have the mic placement.. kinda like a depth control.. set on the low side. With it up too high, it has alot of volume swelling. That too, I found useful though. I use mine with an American made Tele through a Crybaby--> TS9--> Destination Overdrive II--> DR Single--> Boss DD5--> Fender Blues Junior or Deluxe Reverb. I have these all on my pedal board. When I play out, especially blues stuff, I will kick in the DR Single and just fills the room... cuts right thruough and I always have to answer questions about it. I think I have sold a bunch.. Still waiting on my check from this company becuse I have sent so many people their way :) Just kidding.

Reliability : 10
It seems very dependable. I even dropped mine a few times. Clutzy me, but it just keeps going. I have had it now for 4 months with no backup. I don't think I'll need a back-up but would like to have one just in case. I think I would probably have to run it over to break it, but you never know.

Customer Support : 10
I emailed them once before I bought one and got a quick reply.. and once my question was answered, the guy is like, "If you need anything else, let me know. Always happy to help" or something like that. It appears that they are very helpful.

I play mostly blues and blues based classic rock. The Beatles, SRV, Jimi.. you get the drift. I have to play standard cover stuff (bills to pay) too and sometimes kick in the DR Single for a chorus type effect and it carries well. It works well for pretending that you are playing keys too. I cannot believe how much I can make the DR Single sound like my guitar is a B3 through a Leslie when I do those staccato "stabs." Just fascinating!
I have been playing for close to 20 years and have went though many effects.
If it were lost I would beat myself up. If it were stolen I'd beat the thief up! I love how small this thing is. It is certainly smaller than the 200 lb. Vibratone I used to carry around. It is also like 4 times smaller than the H&K Rotosphere... both of which I have lugged around. In comparison to the H&K, which is good, this does sound better with much less noise, weight and size. There isn't anything I dislike about it but I could see how some people may have a problem with the trimmers and the small print in the manual. Other than that, dynamite!
