Three knobs for rate, depth and level and a toggle switch for boost mode make this pedal easy to use.
Getting a good sound is easy because there aren't any bad sounds in it.
It doesn't come with a manual because none is needed.

I'm using this with my Goodsell Super 17 because it doesn't have built-in trem.
I wanted a trem like that in my Allen Hot Fudge w/nuts, the bias-vary type.
The Blue Bird doesn't use an optoisolator, so it's not an on/off trem, but smooth and pulsating...just like the trem in my Allen.
The level knob is key to getting just the right amount of throb.
I like setting level just past noon, rate at about 2:30, depth around 10:30/11:00...nice 'n swampy.
I've got a good overdrive (Small Fry) so I don't use the pedal as a boost, but it's nice to have the extra function.

My band covers many styles of music including r&r, r&b, pop, ballads, etc.
I've already used the Blue Bird on a job and it sounded great. I continue to experiment with it and am very pleased at what I'm hearing.
I bought my Blue Bird as a blem. It had a few bubbles under the decals, no biggie at all.

I tried a Les Paul and a Tele through this into a Marshall plexi ri. The tremolo is awesome but the boost circuit is what i liked even more. Turn off the tremolo via toggle switch and it's a great sounding boost/fuzz...just right, very transparent and natural sounding. If you want to get away from the tubescreamer od thing but not too fuzzy, this hits the front end just right and it still sounds like you.

I bought this used, slightly beat up on the outside, no problems. It looks well built on the inside too, not mass-produced machine made junk.

You can actually talk to the dude who builds these and he also does custom work. He seems very knowledgeable, friendly and professional too. It doesnt get any better than that.

This could be used for a wide variety of stuff, if lost or stolen i would definitely buy another one, probably the Big Blue Tremolo because it has a footswitch instead of a toggle for switching between tremolo and boost.

3 knobs: Rate, Depth and Level, plus a toggle switch to pass from tremolo fx to volume boost (bypassaing the rate and depth controls). No manual, but doesn't need one. Mine is the V2 with the slower rate range.
Cool and useful thing about this unit is the LED that blinks in time with the Rate... I can sync it visually with my tap delay (Boss RE-20).

I use it in a common FX chain, after some OverDrives and before modulations and delays. Use it through mostly Fender amplifiers, with telecasters, les pauls, 335...
No noise, one of the greatest tremolo pedal I've ever played with... it has the feel of an old tube amp tremolo, in a small size... smaller than VooDoo Lab, has the level control that Carl Martin's lack, I won't waste time comparing to Boss TR-2... ;)

I play almost any styles of music from Pop/rock to Country... I've been playing for 15 years, 2 years professionally... (I'm only 22).
I've been searching for 5 years to find the effects that would suit my needs, taste, budget... and that would be "pedalboard friendly". I've been through several tremolos before I found this one over Ebay, now today seems to be that day, the day when I've finally found the perfect box... I'll sure take a look at other Outlaw Supply effects.

a rate depth and level make this pedal simple but easy to manipulate for a RANGE of tones. The boost/tremolo pedal allow it to but used as a gain boosting preamp independently of the tremolo. No manual but if you need one with this then you probably have no business using it. given that it's like 2 pedals in one and it has such a small casing, it's a real asset to my pedal board with limited available real estate.
the blinking LED makes it easy to tell the rate without having to hear it and makes it pretty cool to look at as well!

this pedal sounds amazing, the preamp is sweet! i have version 2 wich is the "slower" transistor-based version but sandy would be happy to mod it for you. I e-mailed Sandy about the pedal before i bought it and he did a great job of making sure that it was exactly what i was looking for. It's true bypass which is a must for me should something go wrong on the gig.
my setup/signal chain is as follows:
gibson lespaul special double cutaway w/p-90's ---> boss tu-2 tuner ---> boss ns-2 noise suppressor ---> Tube Works Tube Driver distortion ---> Ernie Ball VPjr volume pedal ---> THE BLUEBIRD TREMOLO ---> Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail reverb ---> Digitech DigiDelay ---> Sovtek Mig100 tube amp
i set the pedals rate at about 11o'clock, the depth slightly higher than the rate, and the level just under 1'oclock
This setup works great for me and the placement of the tremolo makes it an incredibly understated and subtle effect. I end up using more often than not on my clean tones. The real beauty of this pedal to me is that it's hard to tell if it's on but if I'm using it and turn it off then people in my band ask me what happened to my tone!
the pedal also works GREAT as a boost and with my tube amp if i boost the output it makes for a Killer overdrive/distortion

haven't had it all that long it seems solid as **** and i'm tough on my gear (underground basement punk shows, possibly to work possible environment for gear!)
i do use it on gigs without a backup. since it's true bypass if something went wrong i'm confident that i could just turn it off and my signal chain would remain intact

i play spazz/screamo as well as post-rock and other more punk related genre's like crust. this pedal, if you use it right and in a subtle way, is a perfect match for these tones!
i've been playing for about 6 or 7 years and i've already stated my signal chain above
if this pedal was lost it would definitely buy another!
i love just about everything about this pedal (is both sounds and looks Great!) except for the location of the power adapter input, it's right on the side which makes it stick out further than a 90degree 1/4" cable end, making my have to put it in the middle of the pedal board, not the end, to ensure that it won't get destroyed. but my favorite feature is the pedals simplicity and amazing preamp tone as well as the nice slow rates that are possible with this version.
i shopped around a lot before i bought this and i basically went with it because it was a steal @ 100bones and it was all analog and hand wired in true bypass!
i can't say enough good things about this pedal i would definitely recommend it to most players looking for a tremolo!

Amazing! I contacted Sandy a few days after I received the pedal with the complaint that the rate knob wasn't fast enough for my taste. A couple of days later he sent me the new capacitors (for free). Really great customer service. Definitely a rare find in today's world.

Great pedal coming from a great guy. For this type of sound in a brand new tremolo pedal you would probably run up a $200 tab. However, this pedal cost me only $100 new. Plus, it's a booster pedal too and has true bypass. What's there not to like?

simple clean sounding tremolo. set the rate & depth, step on the switch. watch the led pulse in time with the music - ooh, too cool....

very transparent tremolo with an old school vibe. now, when it first arrived, the rate was way too high, imho. i timed it at about 3.2 pulses per second on the slowest setting. too fast for anything i'd use it for. i dropped sandy an email and he said "send it back and i'll mod it.... for free" i did. he did. less than a week later, i was playing the tremolo i had been after.
my setup is a variety of guitars with either hums or singles into a vox v847 wah (modded for true bypass), fulltone full drive 2, keeley modded ds1, mxr phase 90, boss ce5, blue bird, eb volume pedal into a tube amp, dependent on the gig.
very quiet, clean & transparent. it just pulses the volume in a very pleasing vintage kinda way.

i've been playing guitar since 1969, you do the math???
i would buy another one if i needed to, but hopefully that won't happen
