Ease of Use : 8
This is a kit you build yourself. If you've ever built anything electronic, it won't be difficult. You also need to buy a book called 'Electronic Projects For Musicians' by Craig Anderton. Once the kit is assembled, it works great - it allows you to produce any & all of the ring mod effects you've heard in the past (Don Ellis, Jon Lord, Jan Hammer/Jeff Beck, et al). Also, you may modify it once you are familiar w/ its components.

Sound Quality : 9
There are separate volume controls for dry and modulated signals, so you can blend them however you want. It generates very little noise unless the modulated volume is cranked up high - then you get a background tone. The modulated effect does exactly what it should.

Customer Support : 10
Got phone support from PAiA in minutes, and from Craig Anderton via Email within a day.

Overall Rating : 10
I'd recommend this kit to anyone who wants a classic, professional ring modulator. It's inexpensive, well thought-out, and does what the best ring modulators past and present have done. Until a current manufacturer markets a variable-pitch, hi/low input device, the PAiA/Anderton device is the one to get.
