I use this pedal chained after a Digitech Screamin'Blues overdrive/distortion. I keep the Digitech pedal's gain between 12:00 and 3:00 o'clock. I use the SMT-2 to provide boost and contrast to the Digitech pedal. I've been able to get a descent sound from it by putting the tone on 5 and the distortion knob cranked all the way to 10.

I can get some serious Santana-esque sustain with it using a Dunlop Crybaby Wah in the heal-down position in front of the Screamin'Blues pedal. It is a distortion pedal, so by its nature, it is noisy. It is not as noisy using a guitar equipped with humbuckers as I have used in the past. Now I play a Texas Special Strat. My amp is a Fender Princeton 65 (before DSP). If pristine sound is what you are after, this is not your pedal. If you like some dirty distortion, but not as much as the name would imply, this one has some grungy dirt.

I have been using this pedal since 1992, and it has never let me down.

I bought this in Korea, and have never had to deal with customer support.

I play a variety of music from blues to grunge to 70's rock. I have been playing for 35 years. I play a Fender American Series Texas Special Strat (all single coils)which goes into a Crybaby Wah to a Digitech Screamin' Blues, then to the PSK SMT-2, followed by a Boss DD-3 Digital Delay. The delay pedal goes to a Dunlop High Gain Volume pedal, then finally to my Princeton 65 amp. This pedal works great for hard rock and grunge. Even though it is called "Super Metal," I wouldn't use it to play metal. It does not have that kind of bass response. I like the pedal better than I used to after I started using it with the Screamin' Blues pedal and the wah. Stomping on it makes me want to play Nugent, Aerosmith, AC DC, or Nirvana.
If I lost it, I would replace it with a boss distortion pedal. I don't use it all the time, but it gives me what I need for the crunchy stuff.

I sold this pedal to my friend for 40 bucks, but I just figured I would give a review. The sound is decent, except it has a wicked high end that goes from extreme to zero in a slight touch of the tone knob. It is a little difficult to get the right sound. If I were to crank the tone about 1/2 the way down and take the distortion to a 4th, then I can get some fuzzy Jimi Hendrix type sound. (even though it says "SUPER METAL")

I guess it is your average Korean, pawn shop P.O.S. I stated the High end in the last category.

It has been beat up quite a bit, but it still keeps its crappy tone.. Kinda reminds me of a BOSS distortion..(the ugly orange one..)

Simple. 3 knobs: level, tone, distortion

No rating because this is so highly subjective... I love this pedal dearly, and use it on my bass for its big, fat, squishy fuzziness, and (as far as I can tell) that is all it's good for. It's messy, hard to articulate with, and no guitarist I've ever handed it to liked it.

Boss-style pedal, and I've never had a problem with it. It's the only bass fuzz I need, but I have my Zoom 506 to back me up if I'm in a bind (but it just wouldn't sound right).

Do they even have tech support?

I paid practically nothing for this pedal-- I bought it in Korea-- and I love it. It does one thing, really, and will let most people down if they want tight, mean distortion (it is called "Super Metal" after all), but if you want a big, dripping, sloppy fuzz...
