one extra point....i just got my second one in a junk shop and learned a point: USE A 18V adapter. Batteries are too weak for this, and theyll eat them anyway. Also, interesting enough, the chorus with a 12v adapter gets flangey. Very detuned, anyway. and you can blend the detuning chorus and the vibrato together for some real nuttiness. very interesting, indeed. Chorus is still thinner than a ce1, but really detuned...

This unit is one of those double pedals Pearl made in the '80s. Plug it in, adjust the volume, twist the rate knob for shimmer(sorry, no depth),or if you opt for the vibrato (it is FAB), depth and rate. If not, you can set it for two different chorus rates and switch between them by kicking the switch on the front (There are two footswitch. One for effect and one to change between vib and chorus). It also has something called vib delay, that, apparently, if you turn in on, by pressing the foot switch, you can temporarily add (FAB) vibrato to the chorus, which end when you depress it. Why? Who knows, but the vibrato is fab (did I say that?)

You want to know me and my gear, read my reviews of my Roland re-201 space-echo, Guyatone ps-14 analog delay, Roland double beat fuzz, and more (I forgot). The chorus is so-so. This analog chorus is warm and lush, but it is not a Boss CE-1. I compared it to a Boss CE-2, even. The CE-2 was tons more musical than the Pearl, but it is o.k. I like it, but the CE-2 chimes more. The Pearl is stereo, though. Good Point, Bad Point. For a chorus, get a CE-2 or CE-1 (there, I reviewed a ce-2. two birds with ...). On the other hand. I LOVE THE FREAKIN' VIBRATO. I had a CE-1. It's vib is good, too, but the Pearl has that pitch-shifting, liquidy vibrato. I really love it. Maybe, a little leslie-like (good point), and, to me, it is a sweet sound. I haven't road tested a Boss Vibrato (I had CE-1, sold it intentionally, now searching for a new one at a good price, not like I need one, I have 5 analog choruses), but I would imagine I could get a similar sound out of an analog flanger. This Pearl is different, though. FAAAAAB FAB FAAAAAAAAABBBBBB!! So two effects, 5 point for the vibrato, 3 for the chorus.

It is old. Old pedals are moody, but the kinks came out of it after using it for an hour or so. Who knows? Vibe while you can!

Do Pearl even make pedals anymore?

I collect vintage pedals and I buy them cheap. I live in Asia and you can find them in dust bins if you know the right routes. I have 40 or so. All of my modulation is analog and vintage, and most of my pedals are older than 20 years old. Never used vibrato until this thing. Love it. Recently, I am listening to old Ride a lot, so I hook up from my Fender Jaguar the Pearl for vibrato, distort that with some overdrive, to a DM-2, to a CE-2. Next week, that'll change though. I always change my setup. If you are looking for a stereo chorus, it is o.k., but the vibrato is neato-burrito. I like it anyway. I am surprised how little information there is on the CE-22 on the net, hope this can help someone. FAB. 5 points for the vibrato, 3 for the chorus. Write me if you have any questions.
