This is easier than it looks. The first knob (on left)adjusts rate and depth, second sets the effect level, third is number of repeats (regeneration) and fourth selects the preset effect. A little experimentation will result in a great sound. I have a vintage Boss CE-2 that I pulled from my p'board in lieu of this pedal. I use it for delay, with a little bit of chorus on the repeats. It's a killer sound. Very subtle, but you really notice when it's not there. It doesn't have the same "in-your-face" quality that the Boss has, but that's okay with me. I never liked chorus for chorus' sake. I like the fact that the original signal is not chorused, but rather the delays.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a custom strat clone with Dimarzio Virtual Vintage pickups. My signal chain is a Digitech Bad Monkey to SansAmp GT-2 to DOD EQ (for boost)to Boss volume pedal to Peavey DSP-16 to Digitech Digiverb. I use an old Yamaha amp. This is a very compact, good sounding and (most importantly)reliable set-up. I gig prefessionally and have gotten really good comments about my sound. Most folks are amazed that there aren't any tubes in the signal path. The Peavey pedal is sort of a secret weapon, since they aren't that common and most people aren't accustomed to hearing chorus seperated from the straight signal. My only concern is that if the effect is switched on with a lot of signal present, it will warble initially. I've learned to work around it and it really isn't that big of an issue.

Reliability : No Opinion
I bought this pedal new in 1987 or '88, and I've used it constantly since then. No concerns about reliability. To paraphrase Mr. Peavey, it's not just good for the money, it's just good.

Customer Support : 10
Peavey is an excellent company. I've used a lot of their equipment (especially PA gear) and I have never had a failure. I've contacted them with questions and have always gotten really helpful info. Customer service is top shelf.

Overall Rating : 10
I play professionally in a variety of styles. I have been gigging full time since 1990. I would definitely replace this pedal if stolen. I love the quality of the sound. It has its own unique character. I've used it with acoustic guitar with equally great results.

Not that bad...Just needs a few hours to get confident with it...
I won't tell what has been said before...
The only thing that sucks is that LFO & time are on the same knob...but it's ok if you want to catch crazy sounds...

Sound Quality : 9
not so bad...this thing isn't noisy at all, even using the stereo possibilities.I bought it used and I wondered what kind of sounds I could find from it...it is so ugly (cosmetically ridiculous).
I think you can find someting better than Boss choruses or Flangers because of its versatility, delays are cold and smell digital stuff, but delay travelling is ok.
I use it instead of a flange or phasing pedal, because it is able to cope with the burden of gain provided by a MT2 or a Big Muff Pi...it stays clean whatever you pass throught...
good sound unit, if you need it...

Reliability : 5
I totally depend on it for years..no prob
I e-mailed Peavey asking for specs and that kind of things and they answered quickly.they're professionals...that's all.

a must buy...it helps to do not have the same sound as everyone else...think about it...

Yes, a manual is helpful because if you find this in a pawn shop or something you'll look at it (it's a commonly overlooked pedal) and wonder: "What the hell is it?" The name STEREO EFFECT PROCESSOR at first gave me the impression that it was a "psycho-acoustic processor" like a BBE or something. Then I looked at the controls (Depth/Rate, Effect, Regeneration, and Select) and thought it was a multi-mode Chorus/Flanger. This is probably why these things are overlooked and can sometimes be seen in pawn shops for very reasonable prices (although kind of a rare pedal anymore).

Well folks, it's much more than a chorus/flanger. Although not labeled on the pedal, the 16 modes (via the SELECT switch on the right)let you obtain anything from chorus to long delays. Keep the DEPTH/RATE totally off if you want straight delay(s).

If you want to experiment with the DEPTH/RATE control, you can make your delays sound anywhere from slightly modulated (kind of U2ish) to crazy and demented, in a bad brown acid from Woodstock kind of a way. Seriously nuts if you want it to be. It's very cool for original stuff and/or experimental sounds.

This is a 12-bit A/D device I believe. Very nice clarity, not quite as crystal clear as, say, a Boss DD-3 stomper, but very nice. It has it's own tone. For all intents and purposes, still an early era stompbox digital delay pedal (this unit is about 1987). Keep in mind that this is 12-bit resolution (common for the era) and does show its limitations somewhat.

If you want super-duper-whammo clarity I would suggest a newer pedal which would probably be at least 16 bit resolution, most likely 20 bit or better though. However, this pedal sounds great on guitar or vocals. It has good clarity, good tone, and is pretty lively sounding.

Reliability : 8
Never had a problem with it. I have seen some roadkill ones, but these pedals generally look like they can take a beating, and this pedal hasn't failed me yet. I'll give it an "8".

Customer Support : No Opinion
What?? Imagine: "Hello Peavey, can you please help me with my discontinued, seldom seen 1980's effects pedal???....CLICK....."Hello..??..Hello??". I'm sure Peavey has good support IN GENERAL but consider the circumstances with this oldie but goodie. I'll leave it unrated, but be advised that you will probably have to DIG to find info/schematics on this pedal.

Overall Rating : 8
Nice pedal, certainly not really a common one, like most BOSS. Longer delays with DEPTH/RATE control on lower setting produces what I feel to be the nicest sounds (Edge/U2/Electro-Harmonix Memory Man comes to mind). If you see one of these for a reasonable cost, say $70.00 or less, give it a try. You'll probably like it. One word of note however (Mr.Peavey are you listening?)....WITH DELAY ON LONGEST SETTING THIS PEDAL IS SUPPOSSED TO PRODUCE 800 ms of DELAY. IT DOES NOT. Adding the DEPTH/RATE control to the mix will lengthen the delay, but will result in previously mentioned whacky ultra-modulated delays. That fact, combined with the 'confusion factor' (see EASE OF USE above) I give this pedal an "8" overall. It's forte is the modulated delay in my book. The lower setting CHORUS sounds are very pleasing too.

i use it with my LesPaul and different Marshalls and Peavey amps.

Its not noisy at all and its sounds very nice. different effects: Delay, Chorus, Flanger, Reverse, Vabrito) really nice effects. the Delay stops when you turn the pedal off. but you can play around with the knobs to get different kind of effects. like 3 types of flanger, 2-3 types of chorus, etc...

i can set the Flanger sound to the same used in the Pantera "Hell Bound" song.

Chorus is nice, but if you put too much, it will sound kinda metallica

Reliability : 9
I can depent on it, the only thing is that it needs an AC 9v adapter and it kills 9V battries. i use the battery Jack with a boss adapter and it works perfect.

2 outputs, which is nice because you can either use 2 amps or you can use one out to to amp and one to tuner.
