Two channels, both idenctical. Very easy to use, much simpler than many compressors... one knob for the amount of compression, one knob for make-up gain, one switch to go between compression and limiting, and another switch that lets you choose to view either output or compression on the VU meters. There are stomp boxes out there with more knobs than this thing.

Sound Quality : 8
I don't give it a ten because although I think it sounds great, I know that there are other more expensive tube compressors out there that are better. But they cost three to five times as much as this one. Whatever you plug into this unit, you will get a very warm, smooth type of compession.

Reliability : 8
It seems very well built and solid. This isn't a gigging peice of gear it's a studio piece -- but I wouldn't worry about hauling it around, it looks more well made than many guitar amps. I haven't used it long enough to evaluate reliability. But I bought it use in mint shape, and it seems to work as new.

Customer Support : 8
N/A I'm not sure this unit is still made, but Peavey has a forum where you can ask quesions and I'm certain you can still get tech support for it.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a great unit for any studio, the poor mans LA-2A. If you see one used, snap it up. You won't find another tube/optical compressor this good for anywhere near this kind of money. No one seems to be sure if they still make them or not. They are not on the Peavey site but they may still have some of them to ship

Now this is not exactly a review, so whether this will be posted or not is up to the people at Harmony Central.

I have read about this all tube compressor on the Peavey Website and in the Peavey Monitor magazine. I have also read a decent review about it in a studio recording magazine. Unfortunately I have yet to read any reviews about it here.

No music store in my area carries it as normal stock, so I would have to order it in. That is a risk as it is an expensive compressor.

If anyone out there has this compressor, please submit a review. It would be nice to know what you think about it. Will you?

Sound Quality : No Opinion
It is supposed to have a great sound quality, but a bit slow to compress bass freq.

I am thinking about buying one to be the compressor in my rackmount guitar set-up. Right now I use an Alesis 3630. I wouldn't mind something that is all-tube.

The one thing that I am concerned with about this product is if there is any signal bleed from Channel A to Channel B and vise versa.

In my opinion, there should be absolutely zero channel bleed in something that runs about 1500-1900 bucks Canadian.

I am the guy that submitted the review on the Tube Sweetener and the channel bleed was one aspect didn't like. Although the Tube Sweetener was only $340 Canadian.

I am hoping that someone out there has the Peavey VC/L Tube Compressor and is willing to put a review about its PROS and CONS.

Reliability : No Opinion
Can you depend on it?

Customer Support : 10
I have to rate Peavey a ten here, because even though I don't have this compressor, Peavey's customer service is excellent.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
So if you have this unit and have some time, submit a review. I am sure there are other musicians out there that would like to hear your opinion about this Tube Compressor
