Just an update on my last review. I had listed my displeasure here regarding pedaltrain's rubber feet that were included with the package. I had NOT contacted Pedaltrain on my own. I got an email a few days later from John Chandler himself, concerned and offering me a set of their new and improved feet. I am impressed to say the least. I love the product and the company and the service.

Its built like a tank, with "form follows function" mentality...its wonderful

I've talked with John Chandler at NAMM on two different occasions...He's a great guy and seems to have a genuine interest in the needs of his customers....He told me that in the next few months he is going to release a larger AND a smaller version of the Pedaltrain to better meet everyones needs!!!!

Overall Rating : 10
The only thing I would replace this with is one of his upcoming models if I thought that the different size was more apropriate....But I ain't gettin rid of the two I got!!!!!!!

Easy to use. Take your time like they suggest and use the velcro they supply. Not too difficult.

It's cast aluminum in a quality road case. It's more dependable than any pedalboard I've ever seen.

Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
Okay the naysayers think this is too expensive for such a simple thing. You are getting a $100 roadcase so I don't see that argument as valid. The company SHOULD offer it in a gigbag version and a no-bag version for studio players. That would open up the options a bit. Obviously they can't make 100 different sizes so I think the standard size should have been a little larger. I bought two for my rig and could actually still use more space. The design is genius and simple at the same time. Slats are great making the cables hide easily. They should add some velcro loop cable fasteners into the deal. It helps make everything rock-solid. The tiny little rubber skid pads are bad. They were laying somewhere inside the case when I opened it. They could be screwed on feet or better pads. I'll give it a 9.5 overall because I would love to see some of these small but easily accomplished improvements made. But it has made my life way easier.

The Aluminum slated board is difficult to place the pedals flat on the board. I would rather have a flat piece of 1/2" birch with velcro on it.

Sound Quality : No Opinion

Reliability : 7
It looks strong, maybe even too strong. I think they built it with that in mind and not the practicallity of the thing.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

I have decided that there are better ways to make a pedal board than buying a Pedal train. Make it yourself or check out some other options, there are custom builders out there who can build a better board for almost half the cost...

One of the most versatile pedal boards available. Comes with velcro to allow placement of various sizes and brands of effects to suit almost any situation. Also allows routing of cables below mounts to cut clutter. Sturdily made with rubber pads-keeps it from sliding even on tile floors. Comes with well made, attractive, padded case.
I have a collection of older (Valuable) Boss pedals. The case has lockable latches, which I haven't seen on any other brand.

Sound Quality : 10
My current set-up has 7 Boss pedals, a Cry Baby wah, and a Samson wireless receiver. All fit without crowding. I've tried several processor boards that are smaller and somewhat more convenient spacewise, but there always seems to be an effect or two that don't quite deliver the sound I want. This seems to be the best compromise. It's a little large for a small stage, but it keeps all of my pedals in a reasonable compact space and allows me to use the sounds I want. Nothing I've used is perfect, but this is the best overall system I've used.

Reliability : 10
The board itself would survive a nuclear blast. The velcro is renewable, and the case appears to be comparable to most of the road cases I've seen. I'm sure it would survive most band situations. I don't think I need any backup parts other than velcro.

Customer Support : 10
I've only had one opportunity to talk with them to order more velcro. They are friendly, and willing to support their product.

Overall Rating : 8
I play mostly oldies and classic covers. We seldom play cosecutive gigs, so portability and easy set up is a must. The only improvement I can suggest would be some sort of interior bag for cables, power supplies, etc. I would most likely replace it if lost. It's alittle on the expensive side but it's solidly made and versatile.

This is a follow-up to my last review. I came up about 8" short on velcro, emailed John Chandler and he mailed me about 20" of velcro, a pile of stickers, and new feet for the board. He is a great guy that knows how to treat a customer right. I got answers to my emails in hours and all the velcro I needed with an apology! You don't see this kind of customer support that often in the business world today!

Overall Rating : 10
Great compact board, 12"x22", good for 5 or 6 pedals and power, nice angle and visibility, well made with good case. If you need more, buy another one! Furman Pluglock bolts nicely to the front to take care of pesky wall-warts and free-up space for more pedals.

Fairly simple contraption, a metal powdercoated rack that the effects get velcroed to and a seperate road case to put it in.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
It makes no sound, only holds effects.

Reliability : 10
case and rack are rock-solid and weigh 11 lbs. without any effects.

Customer Support : No Opinion
havn't had to deal with them, and by the looks of the 2 items, probably won't have to.

Overall Rating : 10
Should greatly help getting in and out of gigs quickly without having to break down and put away 5 different pedals and power sources. Everything is now mounted and plugged in and ready to go. The effects are well protected and will last a long time.

The Pedal Train pedalboard is dead simple to use, though rather small (22"L x 12.5"W). However I have just 8 pedals to put on it (6 Boss-size pedals, a wah and an A/B/Y box), plus a power strip. The board itself is slanted a little for better pedal access and to see the LEDs on the pedals better. One of the nice things I really like about the Pedal Train is that the pedals rest on slats that are spaced apart, so that the cables connecting the pedals together and the power supply cables can all be routed underneath the board! So, no sloppy, tangled mess on top. This was a BIG selling point for me, along with the fact that it comes with a very nice hardshell aluminum case to carry it all in.

Sound Quality : No Opinion

Reliability : 10
The Pedal Train seems to be very ruggedly built. Made of some type of alloy metal. Welded joints all around. Very lightweight, even loaded up with pedals. Light as a feather unloaded. I'd depend on it.

Customer Support : 10
Here's one of the best parts. The Pedal Train was supposed to come with Velcro to secure to the board and underneath the pedals, and instructions on how to set it all up. I got mine home and opened the case. There was the board, and a set of keys to lock the case, but no Velcro or instructions. So, I e-mailed John Chandler (the owner of the company) about the matter, and he replied by phone AND e-mail within the hour, apologizing profusely and asking me for my mailing address for sending out the Velcro and instructions. A few days later I received the Velcro, and not only did he send me the Velcro and instructions, John sent me some extra Velcro and 3 small Pedal Train bumper stickers! Cool!! John's one of the nicest guys you'd want to talk to, and I feel he goes above and beyond in the customer service department. He made me feel like I was his only customer! Not to mention, he puts out a superior product!! I looked at several pedalboard companies before deciding on Pedal Train, and I'm glad I went with the P/T. Thanks so much, John.

Overall Rating : 10
I've played blues for about 10 years, so far just for my own enjoyment at home, though I also do home recording. I had a homemade pedalboard (36"L x 15"W, made of particleboard) before the Pedal Train with about 14 pedals and a Pedal Power power supply on it, and I found that I REALLY needed to slim my pedalboard down (including the board itself). The Pedal Train is a perfect match for me. If it were lost, shame on me! If it were stolen (or lost), all my other effects would be gone, too, so I guess I'd have to start over. If I DID have to start over, though, my FIRST purchase would be another Pedal Train! I couldn't recommend it enough!!

Man, this thing is so friggin' easy to use it aint even funny. I have had all the SKB boards, a custom board from pedalboard.com, and several that I made myself. This thing is the coolest because of the case, the design, and the price(more on the dollar figure later).

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Well, it doesnt make any noise, its a pedalboard. What I will say is that it fits all my effects pretty nicely. They are- Budda Wah into a Carl Martin compressor-into a Fulldrive2-into a Carl Martin Boost Kick-into a Maxon AD-80 Analog delay-into a Voodoo lab temolo(4Knob version). Everything is powered by a Voodoo Lab pedal power....rock on.
Guitars by Tom Anderson,
Amps by Mike Holland

I would gig without a back up. Its a solid piece of Aluminum, what is gonna go wrong? very solid.
The case looks pretty solid, but we will see after time passes how well it actually holds up.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them. I have read good things.

Overall Rating : 8
O.K.- The board is cool, and the case is cool. Its a perfect fit for the board but it leaves a little extra room for cables ect. The only thing that bugs me is those crappy little rubber pads that are supposed to stop the board from sliding, when i got it home one of them had come off, and i hadn't even taken it out of the plastic yet! I figure if i'm gonna pay damn near $200.00 for a piece of aluminum, and a case, the feet should be drilled in and real rubber stops should be used. Now on the other hand- the case is very nice and all together the whole thing weighs less than half of what i was carrying before. The open slats in on the top bugged me until i got my pedals on there and found that i can route extra cable length etc. underneath...cool. Im glad i got one, i love it, but damn if if it didn't cost me. I think its alittle high for a non-powered board. The other thing is that it only comes in one size, 12.5 by 22 inches. I dont recommend if you have Line 6 stompboxes. I checked around and generally a hard case for a pedal baord is like $250.00. So when i saw this, i said Hmmmmm, ill try it. the case does not look ATA approved, but if you are throwing it in a trunk, you cant beat it, for the buck. The SKB stuff is cheaper and powered, but its made out of plastic and i think its powered by a naked wire soldered to some tin foil or something.

This pedalboard is ingenious in design and very simple to set up. Angled face allows for easy step to higher up pedals. I got mine in 2001 with the soft padded case. I currently have seven items on this board, including the power supply and amp footswitch. Accomodates them all very nicely. I love this thing!

Sound Quality : 10
My gear list includes two Strats and a mint condition Ibanez 335 copy from the early eighties. For amps I use a Carvin Legacy combo for large rooms and a Tech 21 Trademark 60 for smaller clubs. With this pedalboard, my set up time is very quick, very tidy and professional looking. The case makes for quick and easy transport to and from gigs.

Reliability : 10
This thing is built tough with a lightweight aluminum frame that seems indestructable. I can't afford two pedalboards, so no backup. I have a couple backups for my pedals though, they certainly won't last as long as this great board. The soft case is thickly padded and leaves room for extra stuff like cables, extra pedals, etc. Of course, they now make it in a hardshell case.......

Customer Support : 10
This is the best part! Recently I went to their website and saw that they have changed the cases to hardshell flight cases. I emailed them and asked what someone with the soft case could do for an upgraded hard case, and I got a response from Mr. John Chandler himself, president of Pedaltrain! He told me for a limited time customers who bought the old style Train with soft case could upgrade for $45 bucks (If I remember right, its been a few months) to get a hard case. I sent him the money and within 5 days got the new case. He has earned a customer for life with this fantastic personal treatment! If it ever got stolen I would get another immediately. I gave my soft case to my flute player in my funk band who uses Boss harmonizers and Delays on an Skb board that fits in there perfectly, so she has a good case too now. Now I have no worries about my pedals or my board.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I would recommend this board to anyone who uses a moderate amount of pedals, as it will not hold 15 pedals unless you dont want to actually plug them in. If you use a tasteful amount of effects, then this tasty board is just what the doctor ordered.
