The board itself is built like a tank, no complaints there, my issue is with the soft carry case, as mentioned in a previous review, the handles are rubbish, mine are hanging on by a thread, so I've just ordered the flightcase for it (an additional ??100, which although i'm not ver the moon about, it is cheaper than getting a flightcse custom made, the cheapest I was quoted was ??150)
(the 10 rating is for the board, the case I would give a 5, its well made apart from the handles!!)

Overall a 10 for the board. BUT, if you're thinking of buying one, just get the hard case, I bought this 2 weeks before i joined my band thinking I wouldn't need the flightcase, just wish I'd got it from the start and i could've saved ??50!

Crap. The board itself is sturdy as a tank, but the carrying case has handle that is plastic and broke on mine after not much use at all. I didn't abuse the thing either -- the handle is just constructed really poorly.
I'm getting a Furman.

OK, so here is where we get to the meat of the issue. This thing is awesome. For one thing, its huge. I paid $140 for mine w/ the softshell bag.I just cant justify paying 100 more dollars for the ATA flightcase. Maybe you can find a better deal. But anyways, I can fit my Boss GT6, Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster, Keeley Katana, Boss DD20 digital delay, Moogerfooger 101 Low pass w/ exp pedal, MXR Smartgate, Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer, EH Small Stone(original), and Boss GE7 EQ with a little room to spare(if I wanted to pack them in I could probably fit 3-4 more pedals on there. Pedaltrain includes tons of industrial grad velcro, this stuff is tenacious. and some zip ties for the more permanent add ons. The slats in it should be standard w/ all pedal boards. No cable mess, and the wall worts, power supply/strip fit neatly under the board so no chance of some drunk ass kicking your cables...oops. I would highly recommend this board to anyone who is serious about their effects.

I asked for this pedalboard for Christmas "there really is a Santa Claus". Got tired of having me pedals in bedlam. Currently have a older
Ground Control midi Foot controller, Ibanez TS808, MXR dyna comp, nano
small stone, nano clone and planet waves tuner. Like the instructions
say with the board "great pedal boards take time" make sure you are in
a good frame of mind when you attempt this project.
It is very importaint to use the velcro all the way across the pedal
board, if you do not your pedals will fall off especially heavier ones
like the Planet Waves pedal tuner. I secured my Ground Control with 2
nylon heavy duty cable ties which I trust more than the Velcro. After
trial and error I am very happy with my setup.

This pedal board was very well planned when Chandler designed it. The
slits in the rails are a very practical design and helps keep all your
cables tidy. the combinations you can come up with are endless of how
you can configure your pedals to the best of your likings. It is built
like a tank and will last for years and is a pleasure to use in live
situtions. I can still see all my pedals with my mic stand in front of
it. For those of you still using a piece of plywood for your pedalboard
it is time to part ways and invest in one of these it will be gig money
well spent!!!!

I need to contact them in regard to a problem with the carrying bag
that came with it. Sadly it is starting to rip as i have not abused
it, the frame is made from chipboard nott very sturdy. Maybe regretting
not getting the flightcase? I have only has this for 5 months so a little dissapointing. Might consider a luan wood shell for future or
a sturdier plastic shell.

My pedalboard consists of the following: TU2 Tuner, Analog Man Mini Comp, Ernie Ball Volume, Dunlop Wah, HAO Rust Booster, Voodoo Labs Sparkledrive, Demeter Tremulator, H2O and a Dunlop DC Brick for power. The board is full, but it had plenty of room for numerous combinations. I went from a board nearly twice its size and weight (with a few more pedals, I might add) and they simply do not compare. All of my boards have been wood - the aluminum really gives the board a solid feel. The case is large enough to hold all your cables and misc. crap you take to gigs. I've already got the last amp I'll ever need to buy (Matchless Chieftan 212); now I've got the last pedal board I'll ever have to buy.

I own the PedalTrain Tour Pro.
It's hardcore. Despite not having a power supply (which you can easily attach a power bar anywhere on the board), this is the best, most acessible, and ergonomically correct board I've owned.
The hardshell ATA fits is greatly and even comes with extra space for stuff. PLUS, they give hardcore velcro and zip ties. An excellent pedalboard, for sure.

Very simple pedalboard to setup, the unit comes with light duty Velcro, not really strong enough for my tastes...So, I made it a bit more complicated by using two types of Velcro. I covered the aluminum with the black Velcro that was provided with the unit, then I used Dual-Lock heavy duty Velcro for affixing the pedals to the board...they aren't going anywhere!
The unit also comes in a nice briefcase, tough enough for getting to gigs and touring around here.

There are (or were) four small foam or rubber feet things stuck on the bottom of the fram, to keep it from sliding. Two of mine were unstuck. The folks at Pedal Train did the right thing by not including a power supply as part of the package. For one thing, it keeps the cost down. Secondly, there are several options (and price ranges) for various power supplies -- and each guitarist I'm sure has a personal preference, depending on the effects he or she uses. The beauty of this board (besides being rock-solid) is its versatility in allowing for individualized pedal lay out. It also allows versatility in the use of whatever power source you use. Great value and a must-have.

-mini ernie ball volume (split to boss tuner)
-dunlop crybaby with Fasel
-analogman bi-comp (the mini one)
-Barber Direct Drive (sweet)
-Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive (sweet, too)
-Voodoo Lab chorus
all into front end of Mesa DC-5, with:

Haven't had it long, but jeez, I'd have to run over it with a Kenworth to break it. No back up needed for this item. Like some previous posters, I think the goofy little glued-on rubber feet are definately not going to withstand any Jimi Hendricks antics for long. I , however don't hump amps or break stuff, so I am not too worried about it. If they come off, I'll fix it. 9 'cause the goofy feet.

Very easy to set up and use. Made out of some very sturdy aluminum. Came in a very indestructible briefcase type of case, which fits the board perfectly, because once you get your pedals velcroed to the board, all you have to do is take it out, and plug in and play. Then when you are done, unplug, place the board back into the case, and off you go. So easy....

Well, its a pedalboard, no sound. I just wish it was a littl bigger, with a power strip. But, I got a Voodoo Power Up, so its all OK now.
As for other equipment Im using, I hook up a Fulltone Fulldrive 2, a Boss DD 6, a TC electronic Chorus, a Boss Compression, a Phase 90, and , a Boss tuner, and sometimes a Rat Vintage pedal. All hooked into a Voodoo Lab power supply. I also have a Vox wah, but I mostly run it off the board for greater stability. I use two Tyler classic strats, and a Fender 72 custom tele.

Extremely easy set up. Being able to route the cables underneath the beams is great. Plenty of Velcro is supplied with this. I have to take a point away for the size. It's just a tad small if you have larger sized pedals. This is what I was able to fit:
Morley Bad Horsie wah (which is quite large at the base)
Reverend Drivetrain
Visual Sound H2O liquid chorus & echo (another biggie)
Boss SD-1

The case this comes with is pretty nice. Don't know about the lining inside though. It's a thin (1/8") compressed foam type of material glued to the inside of the case. Doesn't look like it will hold up, but the case itself is sturdy and the pedalboard is pretty much indestructable. The rubber feet on the bottom of the pedalboard are crap. Thin and soft and 2 of them fell off while I was setting up the board! Will have to find some better glue, but most likely I will look for some heavier duty feet, maybe even some small screw on jobs.

Overall, this is a very nice set up. I also got the George L red cable set. My board looks kick ass and I expect to have no major problems. The price is a bit high when you compare the size to other pedal boards out there. This is smaller than the nicer ones out there, and most of the larger pedal boards come with a DC supply and this does not. But, The quality of the board (indestructable metal) and the very nice carrying case IMO are higher quality then others. I would rate this an 8.5 based on it being a little too small, the crappy rubber feet, and I think the price should be 20-30 bucks cheaper based on no power supply.

Very easy. There was more than enough velcro included to attach all my pedals. Extra space inside the case around the board fits all my cables as well as extra batteries for my wireless setup. Makes setup/takedown quick.

My board configuration looks like this: Samson Airline Wireless receiver > Boss TU-2 tuner > Voodoo Lab Chorus > Boss BF-2 (soon to be replaced with something less noisy). I also have the stompbox that connects to my amp attached to the pedaltrain. I used to also have a Boss reverb/delay pedal which fit nicely with all.
The only real affect a non-powered pedalboard has on sound quality is the ability to fit your pedals in the configuration you wish. The pedaltrain accomplishes just that.

I had my pedaltrain perched on top of my amp at a gig with an uneven stage (stupid me). When I took the pedalboard out of the case, the case flipped backward onto the stage. It fell roughly 4 feet and landed on it's hinges. Unfortunately, after that the case wouldn't close correctly.
I e-mailed John Chandler (the owner of the company - and also the only contact on the website, pretty cool if you ask me) explaining my situation and asking what my options were. He got back to me the next day with a solution.
Shortly thereafter I had a pedaltrain in perfect condition. I cannot specify what it cost for replacement, but it was very reasonable.

This pedalboard is great. Originally, I bought a used DOD pedalboard and carved it up with an X-acto knife so it would fit my Boss pedals (all I had at the time). As I switched out Boss for other brands, I could no longer use the case. So, for awhile I carried around my pedals in a backpack. What a nightmare! Setup, etc. was a mess. Then came pedaltrain. I didn't want to spend $170 on a pedalboard, but after shopping around for different models and reading user reviews I bought the pedaltrain and haven't looked back yet.
I've had mine for about a year now. Whenever I'm at a gig I watch it like a hawk, but if somehow it was stolen I would definitely purchase another one.
I would recommend this to anyone wishing to protect their pedals and make setup/takedown simple. It is also very space-efficient...no one in my band has a van and so having a pedalboard that stacks easily is important.
The only drawback I can think of would be the size. If I were to add more pedals, they might not fit. But if that happens I'll either buy a second pedaltrain or the new larger model (if it's out). For now, the size is just fine.

It?s a ?Aluminium? frame? of course its reliable. The case its self is beautiful and feels very sturdy. First day I got it two of the rubber feet fell off the bottom of the frame, the glue it was stuck with is shit. Now all four have fell off, I?ll have to find some thing different to stick on the bottom so its doesn?t slip when I tread on it. On the other hand the Velcro on the frame does a incredible job of making sure my pedals are going ?NO WHERE?.

It?s a brilliant idea, I was a bit sceptical paying #160 for a case with a metal frame inside. The case alone looks and feels the price. BUT? I do wish its was about four inches bigger, in my opinion it?s just that little to short. It?s good for smaller pedals (like Boss etc) but like someone said before if your running some line6 stuff or similar size pedals, there won?t be much room left to play with.
Also I thought that because its raised/slanted at the top it would be hard to get to the pedals, well I wasn?t entirely wrong? you have to balance when your playing, but its ok, just make sure the pedals you use the most are at the bottom of the frame so there easy to get to. It does have the advantages of tucking away those annoying cables/wires, thus making it look tidy. I?m happy till I can afford a super custom made pedalboard.

I traded in the Pedal Pad for this because it was too big and heavy (made of wood). Also, after taking off the pedals a few times, the carpet hairs pulled. After awhile, you'd have to recarpet the wood to use it! Just change the velcro on the PedalTrain if you ever have that problem (so much easier).
This thing's size is excellent though. Easily holds Matrix Tuner -> Boss V-Wah -> Boss Acoustic Sim -> Boss Compressor -> Ibanez Flange -> Danelectro Trem -> Akai Headrush -> EH Holy Grail comfortably, plus all my backup crap (cords, tools, etc) in the case. All you need to carry is this thing and your guitar bag.

Moslty Classic rock, soul and R&B. By far it is the best pedal board on the market that won't crack or break with heavy use. Velcro attaches all pedals, Morley volume/wah, TS-9, Boss acoustic simulator, and Boss DD-5. All powered by a Voodo Labs Pedal power box and I also attached my Fender 3 channel switch for the evil twin. I have all cables (extension cord & guitar chords) wrapped together in a 1" black flex tube that runs from my pedal board to my power conditioner& amp. Some people say $169 is too much for a pedal board with out a power supply. That's Bull Shit because of the quality of the metal die-cast board and the case that comes with it. The case is worth $100 by itself so the price is right. I will say the only thing that is a downside it is the size. If you are using a power supply that has to go on the board that's more space already taken up. If you're using mainly smaller stomp boxes then you will have enough room. But if you use bigger stuff like Line6 modlers then you won't be left with alot of room. Other than the size, everything else about it rocks!

Since the pedaltrain doesn't come with a power supply the sound quality all depends on your source.

It is definetly reliable. It's hard-shell case is equipped with metal framing and you can't hurt it. That's the main reason I bought the pedaltrain was the protection it gives you and your pedals.

I play a Fender Stratocaster through a Fender Hot Rod DeVille(4x10). I might buy another pedaltrain board...that's how good it is! I do wish it was bigger, and had more room inside the case(that's not a big deal-it already has room for cables and shit, but a little more room would be nice for extra pedals). But besides that everything else about that pedalboard is the best!!! If you don't buy a pedaltrain you're lacking in the brain. You would also be a pussy for not buying it, if you can't handle the strength and toughtness it has!

Very Very Easy. Just velcro on your pedals, route all your cables and you're all set. Everything looks and works great.

Well this is a pedalboard, a device to keep all your pedals together, so there's no sound coming from the board, so I can't comment on the sound quality. However, keeping everything together and protected is a very valuable thing. The pedaltrain keeps your pedals, patch cables, power cables, etc... protected so you know that when you step on that stage that everything will work and sound the best possible.

Incredibly well build. Very sturdy when stomping pedals. The case is very well built. This thing will last. It's like asking the reliability of a huge peice of a metal. If you were to punch it, you would break your freaking hand.

OK. Seriously. I noticed on their website that they were coming out with new models. It didn't specify what the new models will be. So I e-mailed the company owner (John Chandler) asking about the new models and he responded in like 15 minutes. Incredible. His e-mail was nice, detailed, just excellent. He explained to me that there are new models that will be as following:
1. The "pedaltrain-pro" it will be 32"x16" and come with an ATA style HEAVY DUTY flight case with recessed hardware and wheels on one end. Serious tour grade stuff!
2. The pedaltrain-jr. 17"x12.5" in a high quality padded gig bag, a low cost alternative for small pedal board needs.
3. The original size pedaltrain 22"x12.5" will be available in both a gig bag version or the current hard case.
SWEET!
This guy has an awesome product with awesome customer support. I don't really know what else you could want. John Chandler is a great guy. It's like buying a pedalboard from a guy you've known for years. Too bad not everyone selling a product is like John. A+++++++++++++++++++++++ Incredibly kind and helpful!

I've been playing modern rock for about 8 years now. I play Paul Reed Smith Single Cut 10 Tops into a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier stack, and this thing is the best peice of guitar equipment that I think I've ever purchased. I'm actually suprised at the cost of this thing. I would expect to pay the $160 that I spent on it (musicians friend) on the case alone. If this thing was stolen and I went to buy another one and found that the price was bulked up to $300, I'd still buy one and be super happy with it. People who think this thing is too expensive are just cheap or stupid, and have never purchased a quality road case before so wouldn't know what people pay for them.
If you need a pedalboard and you don't buy a pedaltrain, you're an idiot. Period.

What I like best about this rig is its light weight. The Pedaltrain itself is lightweight aluminun, and I have the soft case which offers great protection for gigging or rehearsing without breaking your back. Simple ideas are the best.

Solid. I had some trouble with the velcro sliding a bit, but I think that may have to do with hot summer days. I have the older soft case, and the seams on the inside seem to be tearing a bit, but I probably overload it.

This product is very easy to use. It's a Pedalboard, so there isn't any adjustment, or effect on sound quality etc. But you attach the provided velcro and it allows you to configure your pedals in a variety of ways to suit your needs. Then you put it in the case and off you go. It makes your life easier with regard to your guitar or bass rig.

Of course this unit does not effect sound quality. There are a number of devices on it that do. It has a positive effect on my sound considering that if I didn't have it, I'd be reluctant to carry around as many effects due to the inconcenience. So in that regard I would say it makes me sound great. NOTE:This isn't one of the "all in one" boards that in my opinon "CAN" have an effect on your sound due to cheap power supplies and inexpensive "routing" features that introduce all sorts of connections and hardware (read: more that can go wrong and effect your signal). Start with this board as a GREAT foundation, put quality stuff on it, and you'll have a GREAT rig. Now, if it could only make me play better.......

The unit is constructed from aluminum. There are no moving parts. Everything is solid and welded together. I'm thinking that there isn't much I'll be able to do to it to break it. I would gig without a backup for sure. Tough as nails!!!

It's not very often that a product like this comes along. From it's thoughtful design to it's fantastic quality. I almost forgot to mention....It comes with a GREAT hardshell case that the board fits in and that has extra room for cords, extra pedals, etc. It is exactly what it has to be, nothing more. I've used it and got great feedback from other pros who loved the idea and felt that the company really hit on something. The old saying "The best things are usually very simple" is true here. This is destined to be a "Classic".
Great Job John!!!

When i was looking into the pedaltrain I took some measurements and found that all my stuff might not fit on the surface (Digitech processors take up a lot of room). I emailed John Chandler (Maker of the pedaltrain) about it and he gave me great assistence on my pedalboard. Even emailed me back within five hours! And he even cared enough to tell me to email him back on how it worked out!

This pedalboard so far has worked out quite well for me. It's durable enough to withstand my weight when I have to switch different effects on and off and it allows you to choose which kind of velcro to stick on the surface (nice if you take your pedals off the board and you don't want them to to stick to the carpet floor).
The only board for me.

I've only had it for a day, but it definitely seems reliable. That's why I bought this in the first place. This beats the crap out of my plastic SKB board anyday. The pedalboard itself is metal and comes in a nice hardshell case with extra room for cables. There are also slots in the pedalboard to help hide cables. Nice!

This is definitely a great pedalboard. It neatly fits my 5 Boss pedals and my Big Muff, with some extra room to spare. I'll be needing another board here pretty soon because more pedals are on the way. This doesn't have a power supply, which is actually good since I can now pick a good quality power supply. A strong, reliable board with reliable customer service. What more could you want?

You really have only two choices for pedalboards. Premade anvil-type or plastic SKB/Furman types and the Pedaltrain. I believe it belongs in a class by itself. This thing is made of metal and will withstand any type of abuse that you throw at it. I believe this is the only board that will last a lifetime. There are no fancy gimmicks attached. This is the highest rating I have ever given any product. I own one already, but will purchase another for my second setup. Do not get one with electronics attached. They go bad sooner or later. With the pedaltrain, you just upgrade your toys.

This is an absolute no brainer - stick your pedals on with velcro, wire it up and go play. I have the soft-case version, and I like it *better* than the hard case...the softie allows my H&K Replex to "stretch" the case just a bit - and it won't fit in the hard case.

It's Great!!! Everything is there ready at your feet. And the hard case is a beautiful thing for protection when moving equipment back and forth. Since all the cables can be routed underneath the board, it looks very professional. I do wish it came with a place to store cables, strings, etc. Even still it's a great buy!

Just an update on my last review. I had listed my displeasure here regarding pedaltrain's rubber feet that were included with the package. I had NOT contacted Pedaltrain on my own. I got an email a few days later from John Chandler himself, concerned and offering me a set of their new and improved feet. I am impressed to say the least. I love the product and the company and the service.
