The ACP-88 is very easy to use. It's straight forward and set up great. It's also easy to patch into in the rear of the unit. I didn't use the link option until recently when I began compressing stero signals such as keys etc... This function makes it easy to match the compression of both channels.

I've got 2 ACP-88's that I use with my Mackie 32X8. I use one strictly for drums. I've been amazed at how effective it is! I mic the top and bottom of the snare and compress each mic. If I want the snare to "pop", I can just abount make it knock your head off, but if it needs to be more "snary" and "smooth", the sound is equally great. The gates are priceless. I have very little trouble with bleed over because the gates are so easy to set. I use the other 88 for various instruments. From an acoustic guitars to a screaming guitar, they all really benefit from it.

I've had no problem out of either unit. In fact, I use other Presonus products in the studio (preamps etc..)and they are all reliable.

I record primarily country and gospel, but I've recorded everything from Bluegrass to folk to heavy metal and I use the 88's on almost everything. I've read some reviews that boast about the DBX 1066...I've got one of them too...it's a good unit, but you can't compare the price of one 1066 against the price of 8 channels of the ACP88. The 88 is more than worth the money. I would recommend this unit to anyone.

Setup was easy with an insert cable from my board to the back of the compressor. The channel displays were good every button and knob you would get with a DBX 1066. But the thing that blew my mind was 8-channels of compression and gates in a 2 space unit.

I thought the sound quality was awful. I mainly use the gates on drums because the band I work for is an outdoor gig band. The gates will click when they open up. I backed off the attack time but it took away all the attack of the drums. The compression kind of sucks. But the worst of all is that the pots are click-type pots and not smooth turn pots. If a pot is turned one notch the compression or output is heavily affected

I have to depend on it because its a lower budget band. So no opinion

I am going to return it to the place I bought it for some DBX 1066 and more gates. So no opinion for PreSonus customer support

I didn't like it but, if you need 8-channles of comps and gates in a two-space rack unit... Go for it.

I had a very easy time figuring this piece out without having to refer to the manual all the time. But then I been a live sound engineer for the last 10+ years. 8 channels of gates with compressers is great.

So far I have had no problem with the little jem every thing is really clean sounding. The only thing is and it goes for all ANALOG gates it chops off a little bit of the front end of the drum strike. But that is nit-picking.
