Ease of Use : 9
It's real easy to use... two knobs; volume and intensity. Only issue I have with it is that it has quite a short jack cable coming out of it and sometimes I don't want it to be so close to the amp. (I'm going to get a jack output plug installed somewhere discreet so I can use any kinda cable...

This is hands down the coolest surf reverb around. I tried Fenders too but loved this cause it was dirtier, esp compared to the Fender reissues. It has a real crashy wet sound. Has a bit of a hum but I don't mind it cause then you know it's vintage, we play loud anyway! I'm giving it a 10 here because I love the sound... it might not be everyone's cup of tea though, and it's hardly 'pristine'. I always have the volume up full on it and have the intensity usually between half way and three quarters. If I turn it right up it freaks out a bit much and everything's just crash and splash and crazy distortion. It is dirty and splashy... great old school surf sound. I play a 67 Jag through it and into a early 70's 100 watt Holden Wasp (NZ made). I heard Link Wray used one?

Reliability : 6
Actually it broke down recently which was very sad because my back up, a Boss spring reverb from the 80s is nowhere near as good. I was still getting a clean signal through it but the reverb wasn't working. I took it to a guy to fix who buggered it up even worse, and I've just recently had someone else fix it properly! I don't think it'd had much done to it ever before and it's old so this kind of breakdown wasn't unexpected. I hope it goes sweet for another 30 years... I won't be as rough on it as I used to be (I love kicking it to get that big ol' crash sound).

Company who made these don't exist anymore as far as I know

I play loud dirty surf music with this and it's perfect. If it was stolen or lost I'd move mountains to get another one. I think I love it more than my 67 Jag... cause you can put any guitar through it and it sounds grrrreat. I prefer it to the Fender ones I've tried, although it is similar. It's got two valves (don't know what/how many the Fenders have) and it drives the sound a lot. It adds a bit of distortion and grunt, and is very wet sounding. It doesn't have big roomy hall reverb kind of sound, it's shorter and splashy. It is perfect for that water droplet sound you just gotta have to play REAL surf. I use it with vintage gear and I don't care about a bit of hum, I quite like it I think it adds to the warmth. These units also look good and are quite rare esp in good nick (even more so outside the US). People always ask me about it, it looks cool on stage... a bit more kitsch looking the the more elegant Fender, which I also like. And everyone has fender shit, it's cool to have something different.

Two controls - reverb intensity and normal volume, plus foot switch. Activate reverb, turn intensity knob until it sounds right. Pretty easy.

This is exactly what I was looking for in an outboard reverb unit. Plenty of depth and just a really cool reverb sound. I find it perfect for surf guitar music and good for anywhere you might want a traditional spring-reverb type sound. A little touch of it can do a lot for thin-sounding vocals as well. Some might find it a little too "boing-y" sounding, but it's just right for me.

When I first bought the unit, it made a sort of "clank" sound with the attack of the note, as well as a slight hum. After opening the tank and vacuuming the dust, cobwebs, and mouse droppings off of the reverb springs, the clank sound stopped. Even though the original tubes were all working O.K., I went ahead and replaced them with NOS. The filter cap was bulged out so I replaced that as well. This eliminated the hum. It has worked perfectly since.

I checked out a lot of reverb units before buying this one. New Fenders, old Fenders, and on-board reverbs in Fenders, Ampegs, and various other amps. None of them came close to the great reverb sound of the Premier. It works great for guitar, live vocals, and in the effects loop of my mixer to add reverb to tracks that were recorded without it. If something happened to it, I would try to find another one, but they seem to be pretty rare and are selling for at least twice what I paid for mine.
