New model with led and adaptor. Four knobs for volume, drive, bass and treble.

The treble and bass knobs really work great, and the volume boost is loud and clean. I tried this pedal out at 30th Street Guitars with a Gibson Les Paul Standard into an old 100 watt 1971 Marshall- the amp wasnt anything I wanted to take home, but the pedal did a terrific crunch and boost. I bought the pedal.

One-man show in Oregon. The American flag sticker on the back of the pedal is sort of cool. Decent white paint job also. This pedal has an excellent vibe to it- looks like it was built by someone who really knows what hes doing, and who has a clear vision of what he wants to create.

I play blues and rock and bought this pedal to use as a booster overdrive for my amps- its very transparent and the overdrive tones come from overloading your amp's pre-amp tubes, and if you have your amp up loud enough its power tubes will distort also. Great authentic crunch. This is what Jeff Beck used in the early 1970's to overdrive his tube amps and get a clear raunchy sound that is responsive to picking attack, and cleans up well with guitar volume. This pedal does all of that extremely well. I was trired of buying back-up tubescreamers like another Maxon OD-9 or some boutique whatever, so I bought the Prescrition Overdriver instead. Id buy another Prescription Overdrive if I needed a back-up. It fits my style, and I like the pedal's responsiveness. And its loud as hell! Unity gain on the store model was at 9:00

four knobs: drive, volume, bass, treble. this is very easy to use! the drive-control has a certain turning point at about 4 o'clock where the big buzz rears its ugly haed and gives way to the fairly brite and biting internal distortion, fairly similar to a vox tonebender, isn't it?

i use it with strats, teles, gibson-type guitars and any of my amps. it has great boost qualities as it delivers a good hump, but not too much! it's basically a very neutral sounding pedal, if You want a clean boost here's Your choice! souping up the drive-knob, a fairly harsh-brittle distortion gets added, but it's not destructive. it evens out when You overdrive a tube with the overdriver. the mixture delivers some of that late 60s sphere with the mixture of tube saturation and fuzz. if someone rememebers jeff beck, jimmy page or eric clapton - that's the direction of the overdriver. additionally, i have the impression that someone looking for early 70s ritchie blackmore sound should try this pedal, as deep purple's "in rock" shows some fuzzpedal involved, later sounds may be due to the overdriven amps. both sound qualties are nearby with the overdriver, i think.
the bass and treble control are very effective, yet neutral when in 12 o'clock position. they're great to subtract some bass on a souped up amp or to add some treble when necessary. You can draw back the high and the low end very carefully.
as it cleans up with the guitar volume drawn back, You can use it as a exactly adjustable treble booster, too. the last option makes me shout "HELL, THERE'S NO GERMANIUM TRANSISTOR IN THIS PEDAL? JC, HOW DO THEY DO THE CLEAN-UP THEN?!!!?" something unique is the high "click" coming along with the sound of the overdriver, no matter if you use humbuckers or single coils.
i think this pedal is adjustable to any amplifier and can even out unbalanced bass- or treble-spots.
i don't know how someone can sell this pedal - thank You, doug!!!

i play popular styles, mainly rockguitar. i play for about 24 years and own too much guitars, amps and pedals. at least my wife says so.
if this pedal gets lost, i'll get another one. it's a very versalite and neutral sounding overdriver with some fuzz qualities, necessary to achieve a zep/beck/blackmore sound. in addition, it behaves like a germanium driven unit concerning the clean-up option. it gives me sleepless nights and a heavy head if i have to choose between my jacques pedals, the everman fuzzdrive or the prescription overdriver...the available sound file at http://www.fuzzbox.com/ovrjames.wav doesn't represent its full possibilities. don't mistake this pedal for a fuzz-stompbox!!! nevertheless, some will love to use the internal distortion alone for very special fuzz/distortion tones - i have the feeling that there are tommy bolin sounds lurking around the corner, but haven't tried it with my hiwatt yet...

Easy to use -- one drive knob, one volume knob, one treble knob, one bass knob. pretty easy to figure out. However, points off for no LED light.

I play a Tele 52 Reissue into a pre-CBS Bassman. Indie rock is my style, and this thing sits on a board with numerous other FX pedals. Originally, I got this thing -- thinking it would be a lead booster for my Boss BD-2 (with Keeley mod). But upon further experimentation, I decided this guy was best suited as my main dirty, rhythm tone -- and I'll use the Keeley'd BD-2 as the booster. So, that's what I'm doing with teriffic results.
I have it set like this: Bass and Treble at 1:00; Volume at 9:00; and Drive at 2:30. Set up like this with the Tele into the Bassman I get a very crunchy rhythm sound. Just pure balls -- makes my Tele sound as mean as pit bull. Yet it remains very articulate -- can definitely pronounce individual notes and tones within an arpeggio. With the Tele, I've not found this pedal to be fuzzy at all -- turn the gain up, it becomes a nastier distortion -- like a RAT on steroids. Myself, I don't do much with that setting - as I have a RAT, and Big Muff, and the aforementioned BD-2 to handle such tones. But this thing really nails my main Tele rhythm tone -- think Jeff Beck or early Clash.

this is a funny pedal-if you have it through a clean amp it is only good for a clean boost...with a marshall or similar amp it will drive and add some volume -with a closed back cabinet it sounds like early 70's Jeff Beck.i have used it with bass,as well-the treble and bass controls are good for fine tuning to different amps/guitars.oh,it's not noisy at all...

this is the thing-it went kaput, and i had a tech open it up to find(in his words)'a poor grade switch, not very good quality wire and a bunch of cold solder joints-who the hell put this together?'he fixed it,but he basically had to rewire the whole thing...he also claimed that it was wired for 'sort of' true bypass, and he corrected that when the Carling switch was put in-now it's fine, but i'm rating for when it wasn't.

when i called the guy,he was basically saying "if it doesen't work,
you must have fucked it up" and wouldn't own up to a faulty pedal!
these cost a hundred and fifty bucks discounted...the switch was OK
according to my tech-the problem is the poor soldering and crappy
solid-core wire AND possibly a bad silicon diode(we'll see).

this pedal is real simple to use. the 4 knobs are easily located,so dialing in your tone is a snap. the only thing that bothers me is the battery removal senario(4 screws holding the bottom cover),i kinda got use to my old rats battery compartment. No manual came with it, who needs it anyway. all though it would have been nice to have it.I dont see myself ever getting ride of the pedal, its to cool.

1969 gibson sg special w/p90s or 1964 fender mustang into bruno wau wau machine into a 2nd issue rat into the rx overdriver into a eh deluxe memory man split to a mid 60s gibson falcon 19rvt tube combo and a mid 50s david bogen challenger 10 tube head w/homemade 1 12 speaker cab. the pedal fits right into my set up. is that jeff beck finally coming throuh my speakers? the sound and switching of this particular pedal is great. i dont mess with the treble setting much.

i have been playing guitar for 18 years. my music style varies from the 50s music to some new artist to date(2000). this pedal is a ideal match for older tube amps and other effects. If this pedal were stolen i would by three more! the knobs are perfect for stomp boxes. again the back cover removal for battery replacement is a minus. the lack of an led dosent bother me one bit(darn i cant remember if i pressed the foot switch or not duhh!!)either you hear it or you dont. this pedal helps me in a creative kinda way(using a pick or finger) it doesnt get in the way at all. i dont want to turn it of sometimes.

i've used it w/ a 40W sundown amp and thru a digitech tube preamp
direct-with the amp i'm more inclined to use as a clean boost as it
has a lot of headroom-nearly as much as my everman fuzz drive(great box) but it has a cool warm distortion/fuzz when you crank the drive.
another reviewer said the higher settings were fizzy and harsh but
i don't think so. it's also very quiet...sounds great.

i did notice the on/off acting funny although it usually
works fine-it will just not come on all the way or not switch out
completely.the funny thing is, i also have one of their yardboxes and it also was acting funny. i thought it was the on/off but i had the
jacks replaced and now it's fine. i can't imagine this one having
the same problem but i guess it's possible.i'll have to see if the rx
gets worse before i rate this.i did buy it used, but it was in exellent shape and less than a year old. the yardbox was bought new
4 years ago so it's most likely not a "bad batch of parts" thing but
who knows?

when i called him about the yardbox he seemed to think anyone could
fix the switch and i wasn't keen on sending it to oregon for at
least a week. turns out i sent it to justin everman in iowa, so what's
that mean? honestly, the PE guy seemed nice enough but he wasn't like,
'i'll fix it free' or anything...NEXT!

i'd say it really is a good pedal and not a one trick pony, either.
kicks most other medium gain pedal's asses easy, but it does costs more unless you find a used one. the cutting out thing really bugs me even
though it's easily fixed-it seems to me these higher end pedals have
more reliability problems than the "ordinary" types...how often do you
hear about a boss pedal not working?

Sound Quality

As others have said already, this is basically two pedals in one. When the gain is anywhere below 3 o'clock, it's just a clean boost. To my ears, it's a very transparent clean boost, though the treble and bass knobs can be used to alter your tone if you want them to. Kept flat at 12 o'clock, you get a real transparent clean boost. I don't hear any added treble. When the gain is over 3 o'clock, it turns into a kind of overdrive/fuzz. Way different than those wimpy Tube Screamer type overdrives. It's fuzzy and gritty with tons of warmth and fatness. I quite like the fuzz you can get out of this pedal and find it real usable.

For the price I paid for it, I think it's real usable. I'll probably end up using it for clean boost in my one band and for fuzzy rhythm stuff in my other band, so I'll get plenty of use out of it. Again folks, this isn't really an overdrive pedal in the sense that is most commonly used today. If you're into Tube Screamers and Fulltones, this is not the pedal for you. But if you're looking for a sturdy, true-bypass clean boost that doubles as a cool-sounding fuzz, this is a great choice. I was all set to buy a nice fuzz, but I may not need to now.

I'm using this pedal with a hotrodded marshall 1959 reissue, 1960tv cabinet and an aria pro II "panther series"(with Tony Iommy signature PU);with full gain & treble on the pedal i get a biting, shrill 70'lead sound, with reduced gain and treble i get a good crunch or even some psychedelic bluessounds
I also tried the overdriver with my marshall valvestate(VS230R)but it doesn't work very good - this pedal requires a tube amp
