The SCARY FACE - Simple to use - U just cannot dial in a bad sound - The question is what do you need more - The true Cleaner Fat vintage vibe or FUZZ! The only thing that is hard is that I cannot decide if I like the cleaner end of it in my overall sound or kick on the Fuzz for a great lead and Rythym sound. 2 Dials - Act counter clockwise (different and cool) Dials act the way you want them to - smoothly! And it does not take up alot of pedalboard!

Perfect 10. I know most of you have heard this before, tried the pedal and the sound may vary or whatever. This pedal is dead on FUZZ heaven. It has nothing but musical vibe to it. It defines what Fuzz used to be - and extremely organic/overthetop vowel-y distortion. this pedal really has it! My Rig consists of an Ashdown Class A 60 watt combo 2x12 using Celestion Vintage 30's. and my big RIG is a Soundcity 120 and a mesaboogie 4X12 featuring the oversized cab running the Mesa Vintage 30's which actually handle 90 watts each comfortably. The secound setup is really meant to rock a outdoors or a larger arena. (almost there!) I run everything with a pedalboard the rest of my setup is all boutique, truebypass. As Scott at proAnalog said, this pedal is meant to be used proffessionally. It likes to be played at higher volumes - This is not meant for the bedroom but I will mention one thing - Played through my 10watt hiwatt bedroom amp - it sounded pretty freakin good - it was the first night I got the pedal - got home late - put on the headphones and rocked for about 2 hours, blew my ears off but I could not put my axe down. The pedal is hardly ever Off on my pedalboard. It just sounds too good - I am still experimenting slightly with it - I've owned it for about 3 months and the pedal really sings and cleans up nicely. Especially when I push my tube amp. The more I crank my amp the more the pedal breaths life. I play a slightly alternative rock. A little grungy but I guess it is original. Some of our covers are From Radio head, Neil Young and some 60's stuff. I have been through alot of pedals - mainly due to alot of the pedals out there need to be modded to some degree to fix the drawbacks. I feel the drawbacks stem from either bad components, bad design, or good design but weak links, or sometimes the disigns are not very useable due to huge volume increases or the non transparency of the pedal getting kicked on - Ya you want to know the pedal is ON! But I want the transisition to be smooth. Alot of designs don't allow this to happen. As well alot of pedals out there are just tuned wrong to begin with - I've tried pedals that had the best components and a true design - but sounded to muddy or to tweaked out which I feel is the drawback of Analog Mike. --> There are alot of sweet distortions and Fuzz's out there that certainly do the trick - there is something about Scotty's pedals that sets them high above the rest. The tuning, the use of 60's mullard components and the testing are all what makes this perfect.

Scott is awesome - A true historian of music as well as being a player himself it helps with the perfect tuning. He is just an email or call away.

overall - Proanalog is a diamond in the rough. I've played for about 15 years and have been in serious bands and studios for about 5 years. I have not done any side by side comparisons - you don't have to. There is a recogizable high fidelity sound that has a touch of mojo to it about this pedal - it is very rich in harmonics and freq response. It is very sensitive to pick attack and your guitars volume and treble - it makes your axe come alive. you will miss it if it is not there. Anything I wish it had would be in another pedal and different design - It seems that Scott is doing the exact mod that Roger did for Jimi back in the 60's. This pedal is a perfect time warp - only it is built to today's specs. I really want to buy Scott's entire line of pedals.

1977 Fuzz Face with Scotty's "Scary Face mod".
OC-44 Mullard germanium transistors.
After 30 years of having to suffer thru using other company's so-called "real deal" germanium fuzzes...all with pitiful gain and hardly any FUZZ, I got the real thing. The key is in the transistors used, how they are tested, ect.
This gets the sound of Jimi's Woodstock, Winterland, BOG, Berkeley, and just about every live show, up the the mid 70's when he started using a silicon fuzz.
Plenty of fat gained fuzz. Cleans up to play Monterey's Like a Rolling Stone...It's exact. So exact, I want a second one just to have a spare. This is the BEST germanium fuzz out there, period.
