Very Simple. Two knobs: Level and Gain. Turn them until you hear what you like

I have 39 guitars and I'm sure that it will sound great with all of them. I have tried it, so far, with a Parker P-36 with Kinman 60s Tele pickups,a Parker PM-20 with Virtual PAFs,a Les Paul with virtual PAFs and a Tele with Kinman 48 broadcaster pickups. The sound is unbelevable. I have a very large guitar rig and pedal board (teese WOF Wah, Fulltone '69 pedal, Big Miff, RSB treble booster, GR-## guitar synth, etc) centered around a 300 watt Vetta Head with four 4x12 cabinets and my guitar synth, piezos from my Parker Flys, reverbs and delays from my rack, and the reverbs and delays from my Vetta going to a Mackie 808s PA and Peavy SP Five PA cabinents. This is a Fuzz that is a recreation of the Sola Sound MKII tonebender (and then some) made famous by Jimmy Page on the first two Led Zeppelin albums. Using Supro models or Marshall Plexi. this thing nails the Led Zeppelin I and II sounds. With the level fairly high and the gain low to mid, the volume on your guitar becomes the control for your amount of distortion. It can go from sweet bluesy clean to controlled crunch to full out 60s sustaining Fuzz (using your neck pickup with the volume full out, think American Woman). I've owned a bunch of MKII clones including the HOP HED (which is an excellent pedal that I still use) and the Yardbox (which MKIII totally kills). This thing nails the Sola Sound Tonebender, The Jimmy Page Roger Mayer modded Sola Sound Tonebender, and everything in between and beyond. This does the Tonebender, but it also has more headroom and more variety. I LOVE THIS PEDAL!!!

Reliability : No Opinion
So Far, So Good

Customer Support : 10
I emailed back and forth with Scotty (who makes them) and Sean (who sells them. Scotth steered me to the MKIII (instead of the MKII, which he also makes that is an exact copy of the MKII Tonebender). He said thet I would love it and that it did the MKII thing, but that it had more variety and more headroom, and he was totally on the money about that.
Sean sent it out the day after I ordered it and I redeived it in two days!

I have been playing for 38 years. I've released six CDs. I am a total gear junkie and have had a ton of equipment over the years. I play original music that has roote in Zeppelin, Beatles, Queen, Who, Mahavishnu, Jeff Beck, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Zappa and all the Pop. Blues, Rock and Jazz from the 60s and 70s. This is a great pedal for vintage tone freaks. I would definitely replace it in a heartbeat. I'm bumming because it's almost midight and I can't play with it without someone calling the police. I guess I'll just have to wait until tomorrow.
