3knobs like said before. Stomp and you get a distortion

Sound Quality : 10
I think its amazing. The pedal can do slight distortions or full blown metal distortions. And each just sound so good.

Reliability : 10
It will survive a nuclear blast and your kids and grandkids could use it for their gigs. The LED can land a plane, none of this ambiguous 'Is it on or off?' that you get on stage with Boss effects.

Dennis is a legend. There was problems with the shipping from Texas to the UK, and I was informed every step of the way. WAs well packed and comes in an awesome little box.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm in a rock/indie band and have used a fair few distortions. I went on a whim to buy this and I'm not regretting it.

I use a Vintage 1973 Carlsbro 50Top headset and it matches the tone brilliantly.

If it was stolen I would buy another one right away, before going and knocking the teeth out of the guy who nicked it.

I love the LED, its amazingly bright and it is just such a well made little piece. Its boutique, so naturally there are things that you notice, like input and oupput jacks not inline, but to be honest, who cares?

It eats my Boss distortions out of the ground and craps them out, was going to buy a ProCo Rat aswell, but dont see any need too.

I am definately going to buy some more of these pedals. Was looking to get a TR1 and a Blue Box, but seeing as they make one, may buy theProTone equiviants. I will get a better quality pedal at a better price that will be more wroth the money.

If this were an action hero, it would be a Rocky/Terminator hybrid, it will destroy it nearest competators with testosterone and drive alone.

The british site I was directed to was www.boutiquepedals.com they have the full protone range and seem reasonable guys when it came to the delay in postage.

Ease of Use : 10
This pedal is very easy to use. It has the standard three knobs, Drive, Tone and Level. Doesn't come with a manual but doesn't need one.

Sound Quality : 10
My setup; Washburn WI68 with a Bareknuckle Warpig in the bridge position into a Marshall Slash signature head and 1960 cab. I've also plugged it into a Marshall AVT20 combo.

Simply, this is the best metal distortion pedal I've ever used (Marshall Jackhammer, Boss Metalzone, ProCo rat, infact I've tried quite a few of them). I like to use it with the drive and level dials set to maximum and the tone on 4. This gives a wonderful thick Crowbar kind of sound. I'd call this pedal a Randall Titan in a box.

What it's good for: This pedal is for modern metal styles. You can really open up the sound when you use the Body Rot with a graphic EQ.

What it's not so good for: Blues, rock, even 80's "metal". It will do these but other pedals do these sounds better.

This pedal is completely silent when operated with a battery and not especialy noisy with a power supply.

Reliability : 10
I've opened it up and the soldering looks top notch. I haven't gigged it but I'm fairly sure it would perform well.

Customer Support : 10
I've emailed Dennis loads and I have to say he's one of the nicest guys I've ever dealt with and very quick to answer questions.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar for 8 years. I play lots of different styles but for metal this is my new "go to" pedal. I will take it every where it take my guitar.

I bought a blemished model but I would have no problem paying full price for one. It's worth every penny.

Three knobs couldn't be easier. A Monkey's ass could use it.

My home set up is an Ibanez RG 570 which has the POS stock pick ups soon to be changed to Wagners into a shit load of pedals into a 68 Fender Vibro Champ. At work at lunch time same guitar into a Roland Cube Amp(Amazing Amp for the money!). The Protone makes the Roland Cube sound like a Marshall Stack at bedroom volume and thats no Joke. If you told me that a five inch speaker with solid state circuts could sound good I'd tell you to screw yourself, but it does! On the Champ it's wild and remember that's with horseshit pick-ups to boot. Sound Quality is f**king amazing. This is what a Metal Zone would sound like if it were Analog. Turn the tone knob down get your rythum chunk, tone knob up and screaming leads cut your throat. I have the Zoom Tri-Metal which is a great pedal. It's Analog but it is voiced diferently than the Pro-Tone and the Metal Zone. It's voicing tends to be a more modern sound more suitable to drop D tuning and perhaps Nu-Metal Horseshit. All three pedals have their place but before I used to use the Metal Zone for leads(better lead tone than the Tri-Metal) and the Tri-Metal for chunk. Now I can use the Pro Tone for both. This is a sleeper pedal. For Heavy Metal it's perfect.

Reliability : No Opinion
It is not built like the Zoom or a Line 6 Uber Metal so you would have to be more careful if your a working musician. I don't gig so I can't say it will be super reliable although I would imagine it will do.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent. Dennis is a smaller operation so he has to be on top of things, and he is. Thanks for the pedal Dennis you were right on the money. Would buy another one of his pedals in a heartbeat.

Overall Rating : 10
Again if you like to play metal and want a pedal versatile enough to give you thick chunk and screeming leads thats got an Analog sweet sound this is it. Like it says on the web-site this is as Metal as it gets!!! Now go get one crank your shit up and piss off your whole neighbourhood!!!!!

Gain and Level. Easy to use compared to alot of touchy boutique boxes...this is a great 'gainey' distortion box, I found it easy to dial in just the amount of powerful sustained aggressive distortion.

Sound Quality : 9
I tested with a Jackson Kelly(w/tonezone and air norton pickups), a '62 Stratocaster re-ish, a '52 Tele re-ish, and a Les Paul Studio.
This gave me a good mix of single-coil and humbuckers. Pedal chain was Fulltone Clyde Wah, Fullrive2, Fulldrive '69, BODY ROT, Voodoo Micro-Vibe, into a Peavey Classic 30(Hellatone speaker, new EH tubes). I want to say I'm honored to be an early reviewer of this pedal, it's a good one.
For the sake of actual useable ratings, you and I both know that somewhere, for some price, there is always something better! That being said I really like this pedal. Extremely thick and aggressive distortion, while still maintaining a smooth sustain. Very high gain and rich. Not noisy either, outside of the great tone. You could spend another hundred bucks and not get a better sound. I was an analog pedal hound, then sold off and went with COSM, and Line6, and learned the hard way nothing beats 'Organic' tone.

Reliability : 9
Protone makes a well built, great sounding pedal in the Body Rot. Very solid, better then other brands I have owned or currently own.
This is probably the toughest piece of gear I own.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I tend to play classic rock to metal, not tuned down much, think Zeppelin/Cream, to Saxon/Maiden, to say the Accused/R.K.L.type metal and hardcore. This pedal really works for me, and I really consider myself a bit of a snob when it comes to pedals, I never seem to find the right one and it ends up on e-bay. There are several WayHuge pedals out there I made money on but kinda wish I still had! That being said I have had this a week and every day I plug in I am impressed with the Body Rot. Don't let the name fool you, its not harsh, but aggressive and rich. ProTone pedals are GREAT values. Check them out!
