I use a Strat going through way too many effects into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and Bassman Ten. This is one of a few OD/Dist boxes I use, and is now my favorite. I looked for a long time for a CMOS based distortion and couldn't find anything. At least not in my price range. I am not going to shell out 500 bucks on something I am going to spend a lot of time stomping on. I emailed Dennis at Pro-Tone and he replied right away and told me that this pedal is in fact CMOS based, using the CD4049 chip specifically. He also told me he had a couple that were blemished (runny paint) for cheaper. I am very pleased with the sound of this pedal. It's exactly what I was looking for.

I own three of the Pro-Tone pedals and they all seem very well built.

Dennis was extremely helpful, and very nice, answering all of my questions no matter how dumb they were. Pair this with great sounding effects and I would definitely purchase more of his products without hesitation.

This is great as a well rounded overdrive. I play quite a bit of different styles, and this is well suited for most of them. Really good for a classic overdriven tube amp sound. Excellent harmonics, all the notes of a chord come through very well, it's definitely dirty but not muddy. Real warm, but cuts through. If a Tube Screamer is a steak it would be a NY strip, this thing is a Filet.
