It's very easy to use this juggernaut. Takes a little while to get used to the controls, but its still very simple. You have to mess a while with the knobs to get a good sound; forget about the manual!

This unit has the best sounding distortion i've ever heard. It has the sound i love, which is rock and alternative. (For a nice little overdrive you maybe want to look at another pedal.) Using a Fender P with vintage pickups going thru a Ampeg stack, I can get almost any sound from i like; don't forget to dial in the mix-knob!!! I like this sound best for Rage against the Machine or Tool stuff. Very quiet unit, compared to some other overdrives/ fuzz i've tried. Definately worth checking out!

I would certainly buy this pedal again if lost or stolen. Love the sound and quality of build. Better than almost all other pedals I've tried.

Very easy to use once you figure out the right settings, but this may take a litlle time. You need to search a little bit for the 'sweet spot', but once you understand ths thing its as easy as any other pedal.

I have used many overdrives [ebs, ehx, boss and also the fulltone!] but i was never really satisfied with the result, until this thing came along... It sounds awesome.
Why does it sound like this? ->you can blend the distorted sound with the dry sound via the MIX knob; ths way you keep exactly the sound of your bass, but with the amount of distortion you need!
But; you have to keep in mind; this is a RAT; if you're looking for a 'smooth overdrive' this is NOT your pedal.
About the 'pop' which is mentioned before... there is no pop here!

The construction of this thing makes Boss pedals look like throw-away pedals... ;)
No problems so far with the electronics.

It's not the cheapest pedal, but i think it's one of the best pedals i've ever owned. It's truly amazing what this little 'mix' knob can do; it realy, realy makes all the difference.
There's maybe just one thing that's not 100% perfect; it is a quit 'heavy' little box; about 1000 grams; which is double the weight of an average boss pedal.

Doesn't take a genius to work out. Play with the rat on one side and deal with the volume and mix of effect/signal on the other. However, would probably have been helpful to have a manual.

I used this with a G&L bass, GK amp and Ampeg/GK cabs. I was dissapointed with proco, as although the sound i was getting was good and sounded alright, every time i switched it on the huge pop (as others have already mentioned) would occur. And it would seem to pop louder the more i used the switches! Not what i was after. Never used it in a gig, as i was scared of blowing the PA.

I'm sure if i had one that worked properly if would last a life time. When people say "built like a tank" they don't mean it, now this one IS built like a tank. But it doesn't really help as it's faulty anyway.

I sent it back to proco through my dealer at very end of warranty period. They sent me a new one within 2 weeks. So potential for a good review. However, the new one i have, although doesn't seem to pop when turned on (haven't tested on a big rig, just a small practice amp), has completely different fault. If i turn the blend/mix switch to vary the mix of signal and rat, it switches the sound off when it gets to the "signal" side!!! Don't know it it's just a soldering problem or what, but it's not good! So i'm just about to take it back again and try for a refund. I expected much better from proco products and got it based on the name. I won't do that again. But good effort for response time.

I'm starting to really hate this pedal. I just wanted a cool distortion for my bass that i could blend the signal with and it just always seems to have maajor problems. I'm annoyed i bought it, a boss overdrive would've probably done better! I aim to get a refund rather than one that actually works. Wouldn't replace it if stolen. Did quite like the sound you could get, but the problems were just so major i couldn't use it for anything serious. Why didn't I just get a Sansamp Bass DI to start with?! This pedal was expensive enough for what it was. Don't buy it, likelyhood is there'll be something wrong with it.

It's surprisingly challenging to get a good sound from the unit, and I've been using gear for decades.

What a terrible disappointment. I've used Rats on guitars for years, and also on bass, and I've long awaited a bass rat that wouldn't rob the bass of its fundamental tones. While "Rat-like", it seems even rougher than guitar Rats, making for a very unpleasant transitor-y tone. The transients are ugly, the decay is ugly. When engaging the distortion with the foot pedal button it generates a pop so loud it could probably harm bass or pa equipment. One turning the overdrive to a low setting the volume on the distortion channel disappears altogether. The mix function works fairly well, but what is the point of mixing such an awful sound?

For the purpose I got it, I play rock in general, not too heavy but certainly not light. I was unable to compare the product before purcahse because I haven't seen it in any local stores. I'm very disappointed in ProCo for this pedal. I believe they must have had some kind of assembly line glitch because I can't believe that their R&D people would have designed circuitry so poor. Did anyone at ProCo test the Juggernaut before releasing it to the public? This pedal is so bad that I will think twice before just assuming quality in ProCo branded gear.

This pedal is relatively easy to use, but I feel that a pedal with five knobs and 4 jack i/o should come with a manual. Even the website does not explain the functions properly.

I use a Gibson Thunderbird with a Labsystems 250s.
There are multiple issues with the pedal.
I'm twisting and turning the knobs and there's basically only one tone. All you really can do is adjust the amount of distortion. ProCo says that you can get the right degree of distortion. What degree are they talking about? 360 degrees of crap? The FX loop is mislabelled, the in is the out and the out is in? Figure that one out. The bypass switch "pops" everytime I turn the pedal on or off. The "pop" is so loud that I have to turn down my amp everytime I hit any of the 2 switches. Effectively rendering it useless for gigs and generally as a stompbox. In my opinion this is the worst stompbox ever made!!!

The only good thing about this piece of shit is that it looks sturdy on the outside. You could murder your guitarist by throwing it at him.(It's only notable function). Because of the "pop" I will not gig with it at all!!! If the PA blows, am I held responsible or ProCo?

I've Emailed the company twice and they didn't bother replying.
My dealer swapped units with me 3 times already and all 3 were problematic. ProCo should recall all their stock and wake up!!!
With a brand name like ProCo, you are not supposed to put shit on the market.

Do not buy this pedal! unless you've got money to burn, amps to blow, a desire for shitty tones and lots of patience. I'm a very plug and rock out bassist, I thought the juggernaut would be an extension of my playing but now its just used to hold my drummer's kick in place and occasionally used to throw at my guitarist when he overplays solos.

It's supposed to be pretty easy to get a good sound out of this, but try as I may I think my pedal is screwed. There's no manual that even came with it. There's a total of 5 knobs. There's the Amount knob that sets the amount of distortion, the Tone knob (aka filter) which allows you to tweak the highs so that they don't go through distorted, Volume which sets the amount of boost, Mix which allows you to mix in the dry signal, and the Master Volume which is obvious.

I'm using a Fender American Standard Jazz bass and just running it through my Korg Bass Pandora for now since I just received it for Christmas and I haven't tried it with my rig yet.
ProCo claims that you can get a non tinny sound out of it, but my model doesn't seem to do so. I really think there's something wrong with mine as a regular RAT sounds a lot better on my bass than this does. This just sounds pretty weak. So far I've been able to get sounds ranging from pure crap to almost acceptable. I really hope there's just something wrong with mine. I love ProCo and everything they stand for.

I also own a Big Muff and right now, my Big Muff sounds a lot better. This is sad because I expected this pedal to be better by far. ProCo claims the knobs are continuously variable, but on mine once you turn the knob pass 10 o'clock there is no difference what so ever. I was expecting this to sound like a RAT does with bass (which has been awesome in my experience) but better seeing as though you can tweak it so the direct sound can go through plus you can have it not effect the treble. Another interesting flaw I noticed on mine is in the effects loop. The in and out of the loop are switched. I don't know if this is a result of mislabelling or miswiring. Either way it's not cool in my book. I'm gonna return this to Zzounds for another one and I pray that this is just a one time occurence because I love the RAT sound and I've always wanted a RAT that you could mix the original signal with.
