I bought it with the DST-5 for $20 each and obviously had low expectations. I've tried it through my LP Studio and American Strat and was blown away by how awesome this pedal sounds. It is very true to it's name (Ultra Metal) and I was shocked by the aggressive yet great sounding tone from this pedal on both guitars. It's got balls and low end but it's not muddy and it sounds more like good amp distortion rather than a cheap pedal. I own several other distortion pedals (MT-2, VOX Bulldog, Jackhammer, H+K Tube Factor and the Metal Muff) and this one is definitely on par.

I've only had it a few months, but it's probably 20 years old (88 I think) and it still works fine.

I've been playing and gigging for 15 years. I own many guitars: Gibson, Fender and old Ibanez and I play through a JCM 900 w/4X12 and an old fender head with a 2x12 fender cabinet. This pedal is comparable to an old Boss HM-2, but with better tone and less high end. I've played with lot's of different gear over the years and while this is not the best distortion pedal I've ever used, it's probably on of my favourites.
