Ease of Use : 10
Easy. A knob. A switch.

Sound Quality : 10
It sounds great with anything, but is absolutely dynamite with teles and filtertron gretsches.

Reliability : 10
Built like a rock, only sturdier.

Customer Support : 10
I've had a couple of emails with Robbie, and he's been extremely helpful and friendly.

Overall Rating : 10
I've had my Bad Bob Boost now for nearly six years, and I love it. It's a 'more' pedal, to quote a cliche. Brighter, snappier, punchier. With the gretsch, it keeps it from getting muddy when you turn it down. I set it for just a touch of boost. It's not even so much the volume boost as the shot of adrenalin it gives your guitar.

Ease of Use : 10
There's one knob. Set it to 12:00 +/-, and that's all you need to know.

Sound Quality : 10
This is the sound of your guitar, only punchier, and with a bit of hair.

Reliability : 10
I've had this pedal for 5 years or so, without a single complaint

Customer Support : 10
Robbie answered my emails quickly and friendly. Aces, in my book.

Overall Rating : 10
To me, this is the ultimate "more" pedal. It makes your sound stand out without being overly loud, or overbearing. I use it for the most miniscule of boosts, volume wise, but the punch it adds is amazing.

1 Level knob and an On/Off switch. How much easier could it be?

Sound Quality : 10
My setup is: Strat -> Analogman Sun Face (Fuzz Face copy)-> Ethos Overdrive TLE (Dumble ODS style OD)-> Bad Bob Boost -> Fender Twin Reverb (blackface).

I use the Bab Bob differently than most of these other reviewers are. I set my Twin on 3 and crank the Bab Bob to the max. The result is the greatest clean tone ever with less volume on the guitar and lighter picking and a real (IMO) Stevie Ray SSS tone with the volume up and playing hard. It livens everything up and it's astounding how much richer it makes my setup sound.

Reliability : 10
It's built nice and sturdy. I've had it for a couple of years and haven't had a problem with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I'm a blues player and while it may not throw a 'traditional' blues tone out, I love it and think it sounds excellent. It improves the cleans on my Twin and when combined with my Ethos gives it a unique drive that I've only heard from Dumble amps.

Simple as can be, one knob, signal boost

Sound Quality : 10
I bought this pedal to boost my Strat's signal going into a Supro Tremoverb, and more recently a Vic Deluxe (you want Tone? Well that's another review). This pedal cleanly boosts the guitar's signal, and the tone remains intact. As the boost goes up, the amp begins to break up and goes right over the edge. This pedal is not an overdrive, rather a signal boost. It's like upping the size of my Strat's single coil as the boost is increased. Also adds a lot of volume. I find that running the boost at 9 o'clock gives one a nice fat tone without adding too much volume. Of course, one must floor the Bad Bob to see just how much verve it has. I use this pedal right before an overdrive pedal, in this case "Tim", and the pair sound fabulous. Oh, and the Bad Bob is on all the time - 9 o'clock. Tried the Bad Bob with a master-volume amp (Rivera Chubster) set up clean, and it adds the same fatness and sparkle to the tone. Fabulous!

Reliability : 9
Rock solid. We'll see in 10 years, but my bet is Bad Bob will still be wailin'. Oh, and it came with a battery in it, and inside is signed by Robbie Wallace - cool, or what?

The Bad Bob is perfect for what it is - a clean boost. It goes with the non-master-volume amp, rounds out the tone and adds sparkle. I was advised to get a Klon, but after reading reviews decided to go with the Bad Bob - cuz I don't want the tone changed. I'd replace this pedal in a heartbeat. I play/sing Beatles and Neil Young with rig: Jap Photoflame Strat > Bad Bob > Tim > Vic Deluxe. The tone is so great, gives me a nice solid ride to sing over. Robbie, thanks for the Bad Bob, Fine Job!

this lil' pedal has reintroduced me to my amp! such sweet tones have always alluded me prior to this purchase. WOW !

one knob; hard to get it wrong.

Sound Quality : 10
my set-up at the current time is an epiphone casino with lindy fralin p90's, plugging into a 20 watt marshall tube amp (dsl 201). the pedal just pulls those ethereal tones from the dogears.

i have yet to find a poor sound out of this pedal!

Reliability : 10
i've only had this lil' guy for about two weeks, but have used it ceaselessly. very reliable thus far, although i would expect nothing less.

i would definitely use this on a gig, sans back-up. very sturdy and solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
have not had to deal with any c.s. so i cannot say how rgw are as a company. if the quality of this pedal is any indication, then i am certain that they would back this puppy up!

Overall Rating : 10
my style is all over the place; changes with the weather, but this pedal is the pefect garnish for whatever direction i take.

i would most definitely purchase another bad bob if this one got lost, etc. the pedal does what a booster is suppose to; it drives your tone to the breaking point and elevates your sound to the hallowed halls of sweet, lower wattage amp heaven. why go an buy a 15 or 18 watter (very pricey nowadays, not sure why) when you can get the same effect (of cranking the volume of these amps) from this pedal?

as a guitarist, you have your ups and downs; your moments of pure inspiration and also the less stellar moments where you feel stagnant, etc. this pedal has re-einforced my love of this instrument and has truly inspired me to challenge my abilities and raise them to the next level. peeling calluses, here i come!

Butt simple: on/off, volume, LED indicator and in/outs. The beauty is the gradual sweep of boost from very slight to too much.

Sound Quality : 10
Supreme! I never intended to keep it on all the time! But, I do. It is true bypass which I don't need given that it's always on. It truly doesn't color the tone at all. It does what's described, boosts the signal and sends a tube amp to that special place.

Reliability : 10
No problems, no backup needed, eats batteries very slowly

I play in a 3 piece blues band using primarily by Reverend Avenger, Bad Bob and a heavily modded reissue '65 reverb, with original speaker. I find that if I plug in the boost using a 6" cable, sit the Bad Bob on the amp and just run a cord to it it's easier. I max the boost and set the amp volume at between 1/2 (no kidding) and 2 depending upon the venue. Now, you will notice that the power tubes probably aren't being utilized and you're right. Maybe that's why I haven't needed to replace them in several months of gigging.........

Easy as could be! Plug in and go. On/off button, knob for level. Ads a bit of gain to your sound. Nice for boosting your leads. Makes your strat sound fat, too!

Sound Quality : 10
Gibson Les Paul Standard, Fender Strat w/Texas Special Pickups into a Marshall JCM800 100 watt head and 4x12 Marshall cab with Celestion Vintage 30's. Bad Bob is at the end of my effect chain and I use it mainly to boost leads on the Paul or fatten up the strat sound. Very nice sounding pedal.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank. Buy one....or two!

Great. No complaints here!

I play a lot of different styles of music and the Bad Bob Boost fits every style in its own interesting way. Get one and play with it to find the best application that works for you. But, get one!

This pedal is as easy as it comes however it is more tone than you would expect.
Just turn the knob up until you get the sound you like.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound quality is great, meaning it does not color, alter or mess with your tone at all. I use it in front of a modified Fender Princeton Amp that was goosed up to 40 watts with upgraded trannys and tubes and a JBL K120 speaker..my guitar is a 94 Fender Custom Shop gold sparkle tele with Fender vintage noisless pickups, orange drop caps, flatwound 11's, graphite compensated saddles, cts and switchcraft electronics and a cap and resistor across the volume pot..I put a Nice Joe Compressor in front of the Bad Bob and thats about it..sometimes I use and MXR Phaser too...that is my gigging rig a good 25 nights a month. The Bad Bob makes the whole rig just sound more alive, smoother, chimy-er,ballsier and clearer. The pedal also feels really good to play through and does not alter your picking attack at all. This pedal is also crucial to use with older vintage amps as it makes em usable . I also use this pedal when recording straight into the console in the studio some times and it works really good at that too.

Reliability : 10
This pedal hardly eats batteries...it works every gig with no problems..I have had for a couple of years and it is perfect.

Customer Support : 10
Robbie Wallace is a very friendly and pleasant person. I great guy!! He is quick to answer emails and understands tone as he is a really good guitar player too

Overall Rating : 10
This pedal is great for every style of music...

One knob. Easy!

Sound Quality : 10
THE most critical effect I use. It's on all the time running into vintage Fender amps. The high impedence input imparts a brighter edge - my single coil guitars simply "come alive" with the Bad Bob. Turning it off will not happen!

Reliability : 10
Built to last forever. PTP, hand wiring. Can it get better?

Rob is great. Ask him questions, he'll get you answers.

Overall Rating : 10
This is the first effect in my chain. Had it for a year now. It's a staple of my sound. It's way more than just a "boost" - I've got plenty of those. It imparts an edge and warmth at the same time and can really goose a tube amp if you wish. But you don't even have to use it to "boost", just run through it at unity gain for 5 minutes into a tube amp, and then try to turn it off. I dare you!!

A great circuit (thanks Jack!), executed flawlessly by Rob.

quote:
>Here's the deal - Boutique pedals have many advantages (listed >above), but tend to cost far more than they are worth.

Depends on which ones you get. It's just like mass produced. There are great ones and there are crappy ones. For Example a BOSS or MXR are constructed good but a arion, danelectro, etc are not.

>They are for rich people who play guitar on the weekends, and the >few professionals who have enough extra money after they have paid >off their producer and the advance from their record company.
biased BS. you are so clueless.

quote:
>90% of the boutique pedals I have tried are just not worth the >money. Shhh. It's a big secret, don't tell anybody. Boss makes >great pedals with great warranties, and they are much cheaper and >better designed than most of the other expensive pedals out there.
>They have 40 smart people working on every pedal to make it the >best possible. How can one guy in his garage compete with that?

Hello, most boutique pedals are built on the same circuit design since the 60's and just modded or improved. The same damn thing Boss has done except they like digital chips. If you weren't an ass you'd know the difference between a Boss and a boutique. A boutique has the quality and sought after transistors that actually make the pedal stand out not some bulk economy caps and crap that comes with a boss. You apparently don't know what analog is.

quote:
>The only reason I took a chance on this pedal was because I figured >they couldn't screw something this easy up

Man you are such a arrogant and stubborn ass.

>I don't believe everything I hear, and I don't have time for techie->talk.
Good, so everyone else reading his so-called expertise about pedals should ignore it.

>This pedal is a diamond in the rough, and I don't dish out >compliments that often. This pedal is my secret weapon, and it >makes the girls say, "Your guitar sounds so pretty".
All it does is overdrive the amp. That's not a secret weapon. LOL.
