Ease of Use : 8
it's installed into the guitar which is rather simple. Just put a piece of copper foil(provided) and sodder it where the old parts used to be. It replaces your tone knob and your volume knob, and your jack. Top knob turns into a volume and bottom into an eq. One way for bass one way for treble. pretty simple

Sound Quality : 3
The sound really isn't that great on it. It takes away from the growl of my 79' Fender P-Bass. It definately adds volume but if you have a strong amp you're better off just using the volume knob on there. I do have to say though the preamp is absolutely silent.

Reliability : 7
you get somthing like 300 hours of use with the batteries, but i'd definately keep batteries on the side when you gig.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I didn't have to deal with the company but i did deal with Reed Custom Instruments. They were incredibly helpful. the first one i got i sent to a store to install it and the gentleman said it was noisey as hell. so we decided it was broken, i called Reed and they took care of everything from there for me.

Overall Rating : 3
I've been playing bass for about 4 years now. i'm using a Fender 79' pbass into an ampeg svt4 through a ampeg 4x10 pr something something. i'm playing a wide genre. i've played blues, rock, prog rock, covers of Ours, OLP, Placebo, Radiohead, etc. the bass sounds good with this preamp, but the bass sounded awesome without it. Bottom line, if you want to smooth out the p bass growl and add some volume, get it. it's silent and it's simple. but if u have a p bass it's pretty obvious you don't want to smooth it out or you would have gotten a j bass. personally i wish i never bought it.
