I don't Imagine that a pedalboard could ever be difficult to use, so I will not write much here. That said, this one is so well made, that I suppose it is likely easier to use than many others. In other words, I find it more or less flawless, so in that regard, it is terribly easy to use.

This is where I feel I need to make clear both my history as a musician (level of experience) and history with pedalboards. I have been playing for about fifteen years, and have released a handful of cds on a handful of independent labels. I have toured in a van, a station wagon, and on airplanes. In short, I have a good idea of what it means to tour with one's gear. I did quite a bit of research when looking for a new pedalboard, and my standards were quite high. My last pedalboard was made by a dear friend, who divides his time between playing music and building custom furniture, cabinets, etc. so the mark was high. I looked at all of the other pedalboards and none of them were quite right. the flight-ready models were all too small and the others WAY too expensive. I had him build mine with wheels and a retractable handle which is amazing. Keep in mind though, that while this option brings great ease in transporting, it does add weight which can be an issue with new cargo charges on the airlines.
In terms of reliability, my primary concern was that this would be okay for air travel. Though it is not technically a flight case, Roy assured me that he felt it would hold up fine. When it arrived, I was frankly stunned by the construction, especially the attention to detail at how indestructible it is. I have toured with it a bit, more heavy touring happening this coming fall, and have no worries whatsoever checking it on the airline. To be honest, I can't imagine ever needing a new pedalboard, as this one may outlive me.

Roy is without question one of the best people I have ever purchased anything from in my entire life. I made a commitment a few years ago to get rid of as much "factory made" musical equipment as I could, switching over to things made by people. Small companies. I find that there is a much greater reward in buying things from "real people." What this means is that I had a custom electric guitar built, custom pedals, and so on. Of all these people, Roy was a true standout. His communication was perfect. He always responded to me quickly, and once we ironed out the details, he kept me posted of the board's progress as he built. The amazing thing to me, was that he wrote at one point, asking if I was in a hurry. I said "no," and he responded that while he was nearly done with my board, he felt it was sub-par, so he wanted to begin from scratch if that was okay with me. Of course i said yes, and thanked him profusely for his honesty and commitment to making a great product. In short, the customer service couldn't possibly be better.

This pedalboard is perfect. The build quality and attention to detail is stunning. The only thing I Might change is the wheel/handle situation but that is no fault of Roy's but really my own judgement. That said I'm sure that if i decide I want a different lid, that Roy would build that for me affordably and quickly. I really cannot speak highly enough of this pedalboard, and have recommended him to MANY musicians I have played with and met since I bought the board. Keep in mind regarding the price of mine, that I had mine custom built and it has eleven pedals, some of which are quite large, and a power supply; it is a big pedalboard. Frankly, I cannot believe Roy charges as little as he does for these. An amazing value.

It's a pedalboard! I got a custom MK-19 with wheels and a telescoping handle. The latches are all simple, but tough, and the velcro carpeting makes for easy pedal attachment.

This thing is a tank, plain and simple. With about 5 inches of tough foam in the top of the lid and an incredibly solid base, I don't think I'll ever worry about my pedals being damaged again. The latches are built just as well as the rest of the case. This thing is meant to take years and years of beating.
My only reasons for giving the board a 10 instead of a 10,000 are that I've only had it for a week (although I'm convinced that this thing will outlast me), and that reliability comes at a price: weight. Still, when you have a board built this rugged, it's hard to take off points for being too heavy. That's why I had Roy add a telescoping handle and some wheels!...which, by the way, are incredibly solid. Before actually seeing the board, I was worried that the wheels might crap out early. I was put at ease when the board arrived, and found that these suckers aren't going ANYWHERE.

I know it's been said before, but the only thing that outshines the actually quality of the board is Roy's dedication to his customers. Emails were ALWAYS replied to promptly, and Roy always kept me updated on the status of my board. With Rockbox, your satisfaction is guaranteed, and Roy will go out of his way to make sure that you're getting what you want (also been said before, but it's so true that I had to chime in and agree!)

I am so happy with my new pedalboard that I don't know where to start. The craftsmanship is beautiful, and looks to be impervious to wear and tear. The wheels and telescoping handle are, for once, two of the most solid parts of the board. This board is a sight to behold.
The bottom line is that you simply can't get this kind of quality and attention to detail in mass produced boards. You really have to see one of them in person to appreciate just how meticulous Roy is with his work. I can't wait to get out there and show it off!
My quest for the perfect board is over, and I have Roy to thank for that. The best thing is that should anything happen to my board (which looks to be highly unlikely, based on how solid this thing is), Roy is always available to fix it. Thanks Roy!

Roy at Rockbox is a great person to work with, he will do his best to accomodate and work with your budget. I choose Rockbox because I needed a pedalboard right away and I got mine within one week, unlike other companies that need 2-3 weeks.

The craftmanship and detail on their pedalboards are of the highest quality available at a reasonable price, plus you don't have to wait a ridiculous time frame. I am totally satisfied and will buy again from them if I needed to add or upgrade my pedalboard.

Seems to be built to last. Absolutely solid construction. Heavy-duty latches and hinges, industrial carpeting, industrial-strength velcro, and a totally solid box to match. Even though he recomends not using these boxes in airline travel I believe it would fare quite well.

OK, here's where Roy really shines (aside from his awesome pedalboards!). If I could give him a 100 rating I would.
First off, let me get this straight... I actually originally ordered the .50 Cal box, not a custom. It was great but unfortunately my Line 6 DL-4 was too tall to keep on the upper tier and allow the box to close properly. I mentioned this in passing in one of the many e-mails back and forth between Roy and myself and he wanted to make it right. In fact he went OUT OF HIS WAY to make it right.
A new box was made to my specifications including custom-cut foam on the inside to keep the pedals in place exactly how I had them set up.
I really can't say enough about how great Roy was to work with. He will make SURE you get what you want.

If you would like me to send some pictures of my finished board send me an email.

Very Well built. There is amazing detail to construction and quality of the unit I bought. I designed built and wired my own pedalboard and needed a housing and lid where I could just plug and play. After visiting with Roy Collum at Rockbox Pedalboards, I sent him dimensions, pictures, and a general description of what I wanted in a unit. He came through with flying colors on construction and professionalism.

I love my pedalboard because I am an individual stompbox nut and perfectionist. I achive the sounds and tone I want because the housing and lid not only gives a good way to transport my little prizes, but protects the settings as well. So I just plug and play.

As I said, very well constructed with attention to detail in every way. Dues to the large size that I needed, it is even support braced on the inside corners of the lid. Very dependable piece of equipment. Used it on a gig last Saturday, and other musicians in our group went wild over it.

Roy Collum at Rockbox Pedalboard is top notch to deal with. He took care and made extra effort to be sure and understand what I wanted and needed in my set up. He kept me posted during the construction phase, then when he shipped it, he emailed a tracking number where I could tract the shipment progress. Not only that, but the day it arrived at my home, he called me by phone to be sure everything was in order. Great customer support. Everyone else should be this way.

I'm an old dude. Play 60s and 70s golden oldies, classic rock, top 40 country, 70s and 80s blues, and gospel. I own a 76 American Tele, a 98 Fender Lone Star Strat, an American Nashville Tele Deluxe, and Fender Roland Strat to drive my guitar synth. For amps, I use a 63 Fender Twin, a 73 MusicMan HD130, and a Fender Deluxe Reverb. Acoustically, I play an EF341C Tachamine thru A Fender Acoustasonic Jr. My pedalboard has nothing lacking and helps me do my thang with pride and success. If you need a good quality pedalboard that wont break the bank, call or email Roy Collum at Rockbox Pedalboards. You wont be sorry.

I've been looking at a few pedalboards for the last 6 months to house a lot of pedals I have. The main purpose was for the pedalboard was house about 10-12 pedals (no custom layouts since I might change things), and also to transport them from place to place in a convenient and secure fashion. So it had to be a pedalboard built into a case. Some makers I looked at were simply too expensive, large or custom for what I needed (Trailer Trash, Pumaboard, etc.). I already had a Pedaltrain 2 which I liked, but it's a bit big for what I needed, and the pedalboard and case are separate. I wanted to explore other options. I looked at a variety of companies, including Gator, Pedaltrain, TMCases, NGM Pedalboards, NYC Pedalboards, PedalPad, Rockcase, SKB, Rave On, and the cheaper Rondo stuff. There always seemed to be something wrong with them -- either the price was too high, specific options jacked up the price too much, necessary options and features were lacking, size was not right, the wait time was too long, or maybe too cheap (like the Rondo) and not really gig worthy.
Then I stumbled upon RockBox Pedalboards (www.rockboxpedalboards.com). Roy Collum runs this operation, and I would have to say that it was the most pleasant transaction I've had in a very long time. He offers standard models, but also can customize them, or make custom pedalboards to your liking. I really like his sizes, options, and especially the standard features. And his price is very competitive. I asked for a slightly deeper case, and he got back to me with a quote in less than an hour. He is extremely responsive to e-mails. I ended up getting two pedalboards, each about 24"x16" in size, with recessed butterfly latches. He also charges a reasonable amount for shipping.
Once we decided to do the deal, we discussed a possible schedule, which he easily met. He kept me in the loop on the progress of the pedalboards as he was building them via e-mail, and he promptly shipped them out earlier than I had initially expected.
The pedalboards are rugged, durable, very well built, with great features (see the website for more info). Roy is a truly nice guy with exemplary customer service. I highly recommend these pedalboards!

Solid, reliable construction. Very professional craftsmanship, I don't see how I would have a problem with the board. Even the tier (an optional component that I requested), which I was originally worried would come loose when it was described to me, is completely immobile when secured to the main board and I have no fear that it will pop off during a gig or anything like that.

I wanted a custom size so I contacted Rockbox for a quote and to discuss my needs. E-mails answered promptly, worked with me closely to make sure my board met my exact specifications. Offered money-back guarantee if I wasn't satisfied, and checked up after I received the board to see how I liked it.

I play alternative rock, I loaded this up with 10 pedals, a power supply, power strip, and a cable kit and have never been happier. It's tough, looks good, holds my pedals firmly and is exactly what I had hoped for. Before working with Rockbox I had considered some other pre-fab pedalboards out of the Musician's Friend catalog but nothing fit my needs and my budget nearly as well. My only complaint is that loaded up it's pretty heavy because it's solid wood, but that's my own fault for having so many pedals. I would recommend Rockbox to anyone who is looking for an excellent, affordable pedalboard.

This is a review for a custom pedalboard built by Roy at www.rockboxpedalboards.com according to dimensions I provided according to pedal size and layout.
The pedalboard is well arranged, and with the tier option, I can reach the 2nd row of pedals with ease. I have a total of 6 Boss/Digitech style pedals, an ART Tube MP preamp, a Snarling Dogs Blues Bawls wah, and a power strip on the board, and I still have room for more!!

Doesn't apply, directly. Indirectly, since I don't have to worry about settings changing between gigs/rehearsals, my overall sound is better. I don't have to spend anywhere near as much time dialing in my tone.

You can absolutely rely on it, with no concern for any type of failure. This thing is built like a tank, but is surprisingly light (before you add the pedals). I put the cover on the case and it's as solid as a rock. You can stomp on this board all night long and it doesn't move the slightest bit.

Roy is great to work with, and willing to help design/build anything you can dream up. I have been to his website, and he offers some standard models that look to be built to the exact same standards as the one he built for me. He responds to e-mails and telephone calls quickly.

I currently play new and classic hard rock/metal. I always want my effects with me, just in case inspiration hits me while I'm on stage. With this pedalboard, I can easily transport and protect all my pedals with confidence, and connecting the signal chain now takes all of 2 minutes. With the power supplies and cables already connected, my total setup time has been cut in half. The board is solid, attractive, and very well made. Thanks, Roy!
